86k on my golf, no issues. hope my new tiguan has the same run. but yeah i've heard VW horror stories. but then again, i've heard horror stories about many manufacturers.

traction control does shit in icy/snowy conditions. and FWD is shit in icy conditions. hell, even AWD isnt that great in these conditions. 4 Wheel Drive, or better yet 4 wheel drive with a locking rear or limited slip rear diff. is what you really need in the snow. dont call the driver an idiot when you dont know all the facts yourself.

@sirtubemaster not at all. in icy conditions AWD is the next best thing to 4WD. FWD is somewhat better in snow and ice then RWD, but it sucks in every other venue.

FWD always has a tendency to understeer for one thing.

@Transane zi still disagree....my FWD truck when off roading does great...lots better than AWD but pending the system i suppose.....i rarely engage 4wd because my FWD is so awesome
