And the Montero is based on the Strada, which is the safest pick up truck in Europe (4 stars on the Euro NCAP safety test, the only pick up truck to attain it, no pick up truck got 5 stars btw). While the hilux failed the Moose test. So, who's the safer pick up based SUV? You'll be the judge
On the post regarding the fortuner 3.0 outperforming a strada 3.2, wow that's the first time I've heard of it. Mas maniniwala ako kung montero ang naunahan because of its heavier weight, but strada? I've seen many strada GLS Sport outrunning fortuners and hiluxes without belching black smoke
May I clarify something here? The stuck accelerator pedal or sudden acceleration of the Montero Sport has not been proven by the majority of owners. It was just blown out of proportion by julius victa's blog. So in short, it is just an isolated case. Some owners that I've talked to experience that issue were honest enough to tell me that it was their fault, dahil sanay sila sa manual tranny they thought they were stepping on the brakes in reality they were steeping on the accelerator.
@justincaps Well a relative in Tacloban city Philippines also experienced the acceleration problem while the car is parked actually. & AFAIK they have had some time before Mitsu gave in to there complain. Nice run, but may I ask what tire speed rating do you have? Because some SUVs are not safe on speeds around 200kph +/-. Many blown tires resulting to fatal accidents, even other innocent motorists are seldom involved in thee process.

Speedometers are usually overstated by a couple of kms. Should use a GPS to truly measure ground spreed and remove all other factors influencing the speedo. Like larger or smaller tires.

Yup. I did it at a straight portion between Floridablanca and Dinalupihan. I did it before I installed a K&N drop-in air filter. I will observe the top speed if it goes up after putting K&N
@slypfumaster this car's top speed is probably limited by the ecu. i watched a video of a vw touraeg v10 diesel and it only reached 210 km/h. i also watched a vid of a hyundai accent and it reached 190 km/h. notice that despite the big difference in power between the two cars, their difference in top speed is only small. so yeah, the montero's top speed is probably limited by the ecu
