  • Am sorry am not a dog groomer yet am still in school for it but I now that its never ok to blow on the hair

  • this must be so much fun for the dog

  • Thank you so much for this video!! It's just the information I needed and it was presented very well. And I love the way you gently worked with the girl -- she is soooo cute!

  • I want a giant poodle just like that, the perfect fluff to keep you warm xD

  • Thank you so much for this video. I am interested in purchasing a poodle (standard) and want to do the grooming myself. I am quite certain that I will be able to do a decent job and may excel in time due to your instructions! Your gentle manner was very reassuring to Cleo ... and to me.

  • where is this school

  • My moms poodles like that lol

  • amazing work.

  • It would be nice if all dogs stood still like that; is that dog drugged, or what?!? It took a groomer, with my help restraining him, two hours to groom my mini schnoodle, and she used clippers!!

  • at 3:17 she's like fml

  • I groomed my miniature poodle myself for the last 5 years of her life. I liked my doggie's fur much shorter than this but it's a nice haircut regardless. Well done!

  • how did i come across a dog grooming video

  • Amazing scissor work. I love it when you have a great dog that will sit still long enough for you to do your best work. It always makes my day. :)

  • I wonder if my dog will sit still for the session

  • Great video.

  • These Folks are right about finding&keeping a Groomer that fits for You&Your Dog. It's less Stressful for the Dog to see the same People every month. They know the Routine&won't freak out. They even start to like the attention that they get.For Pets like PoodlesGrooming is essential for them to remain Sanitary&Healthy. I would do what I could to Brush Her out Everyday. That,& a ShorterCut. No Poofs for Her Tail or Feet. She Looked for My Brother for Months! They are Aware & It's A Very Sad Thing!

  • Her Doctor was Great with Her & they knew She was a Just In Time Patient. No Cages! She'd wait in the Car until they were ready for Her. It was a LaborOfLove to take care of Her.But no way was My"Niece"going to the Pound! My Brother thought too much of Her for that. She Died of Renal Failure. No one does Doggy Dialysis in Alaska yet. Were not quite big enough for that. Maybe one day soon. She was an Austin,Texas Dog& had never seen Snow in Her life. I had to push Her off the Porch with My Foot!

  • had kept Her for Me for Four Days when I had to go for Surgery. There were no problems because They were used to each other by then. She Died a few days short of 15 & I still miss Her. Pets to My Family were always like Family Members with Their own Rights,& Responsiblities. She had Mild Epilpsy from Inbreeding. She was a Rescued Dog & was very Neurotic. It took Her almost two years to decide I was not going to just leave Her somewhere. TRUST! She also would Freak Out at the Vet's, (continued)

  • I had Poodle Number Three that I Inherited from My Brother. He'd had Her for Eight Years. Their not a very Manly Dog & of course I got those Looks from the Non Poodle Owners. She was a Mix Cocker Spaniel & Poodle. Second Smartest Dog I've ever had. The Smartest being another Poodle! That Poodle was supposed be My Fathers, but picked Me as it's owner. They are The Smartest Dog on Several Charts. I took Her every Month to the Same Groomer. They had their own deal worked out! She (continued)

  • you are awesome. It was so cute how after you put the bow on she got so happy.

  • Wow...you are very talented. I have never seen a clip done free handed to this degree of perfection. How long have you been grooming? Awesome job.

  • my dog would NOT be that calm. he would be all over the place (his a Klein Poodle which is in between miniature and standard)... but hes only a little pup. lol.

  • wow you are very good! i love animals and i'm considering becoming a dog groomer i hope i can find an instructor as good as you here in chicago ^_^

  • What beautiful dog and a very good groomer. I have been grooming my poodles for many years and it is a wrestling match from beginning to end of cut and not a very professional look. . I must not have the majic tough. i enjoyed the video so much. It was a joy to see the little dog be so doscile. LOL Now I have a Shitz tzu in the mix and he does not like haircuts either.

  • How do you get the poodle so poofy/fluffy? My moms toy poodle never looks like that. They insist on getting him cut really short on the body. And as I will soon be taking him in, I was just wonder what I can do to make him look better when he grows all his hair out. I really dislike that she has him cut so short.

  • Wow! What a good dog!!

  • how cute....

  • Great hands and skills. Thank you for sharing!

  • That dog is soo cute!! It's got a face like my Bichon!

I was wondering, could you cut a labradoodle like that?

  • LOVE THE DOG ITS REALLY CUTE ♥♥

  • Man that dog is so patient. My dog would run and figet the moment you try to cut her hair. I'm going to try this out, thanks for the demo! ^__^

  • Wow your technique with the scissors is phenomenal.

  • Wow! you have some patience to scissor all that lol! Awsome job! you should do a how to on a T&C

  • great clip for the winter!? with its feet not clipped it will bring in more wet and mess! barly any shape on the back leg. very little explenation on shape for this dog.

  • Great scissoring work and Cleo is a great dog to work on. I also love how this groomer is so gentle and sweet with her; you can tell she really loves dogs. :)

  • this was very interesting how she only uses siccoers.

  • yes, serious scissoring skills!!!! LOVE it!

  • thats a really well behaved dog

  • she is a doll

  • @xena2345678 she said that shes groomed that dog since she was a puppy & thats y she doesnt use that thing

  • @xena2345678 The reason the dog is not on a noose is because the dog is well behaved..I only use a noose on dogs that need them..Owners need to realize that groomers do care about the dogs that they do.. but they have a job to do and need to stay safe also.. No groomer would hang a dog..It takes alot to be a groomer, no body is doing it for just the money, cuz it is no get rich quick job thats for sure.. Most dogs are not as well behaved as this one...and many owners just dont get it..

  • @xena2345678 she has a grooming loop she obviously ties some dogs groomers dont use those to strangle dog you know

  • @xena2345678 she has a grooming loop she obviously ties some dogs groomers dont use those to strangle dog you know she is still pushing him around and he isnt liking it you can tell by how he licks his lips if she tied him she wouldnt have to push him so much

  • @xena2345678 Some dogs who move around NEED to be restrained for their own safety. The blades and shears are razor sharp and can cause serious injuries if a dog isn't staying still. You should really find out about something before knocking it.

  • @xena2345678 She might not need it for this dog, but its there, and I can bet you, if your dog acted up she wouldn't hesitate to use it. Its a matter of safety for your dog and for your groomer. The dog could be cut, or seriously maimed, she could also fall off the table, the groomer could be cut, a dog could bite if its skittish. There is nothing wrong with restraining a dog on the table, and no decent groomer worth her salt would ever "choke" or "hang" an animal.

  • thanks you for this video! im gonna have my baby poodle look like that next time we visit her groomer! :)

  • @EHLHaiZAH but it depend, because poodle is such a wonderful and pretty pet! different age stage of poodle have different hair cutting style!! (personly want to be pet groomer someday!! LOL)

  • That poodle is sooo good on the table!

  • @TexasMom17 yea it must be use to it

  • I want to learn to groom our 4 lhasas and 1 maltese. Two of our lhasa's will go to sleep while your bathing them and one of them when your drying them...lol. Cracks me up everytime....you just wonder what they're thinking!

  • @TexasMom17 They are like "A~~~!! so comfy!! thank owner for the bathing and warm air drying!!" haha~! I got the same problem with my puppy before, when I bath him in the sink, he will dooz off to sleep and I did actually let my hands off from him and he just lay off to the base of the sink!! it was so cute when he did that!! (PS when he was about 5wks old)

  • this is the only way i would groom a poodle if i was to get one. it looks so much cuter than the typical poodle cut

  • Could you please look at my slide show of Gigi toy poodle and suggest the best way to clip a 3 pound tea cup poodle who loves people. The creator3924

  • Hi, yama272. Why don't you take the lessons at my school? I am a grooming instructor.

The second best way is to ask your local pet groomer to trim it. From your description, I'm guessing it's heavily matted. Don't be surprised if your groomer clipped his/her hair very short. It is the most timely efficient and painless way. In order to have your poodle styled like Cleo, you will have to grow back her new hair, while maintaining a mattless coat. It takes time. Trust your pet groomer.

  • @tonihana10 hi how much does a dog groomer earn?

  • Thanks for comment, louboulover.

If you are looking to buy a poodle with a shorter muzzle, the best thing to do is to see her mother dog. You can predict how the puppy becomes when full grown.

However, the teddy bear cut can be achieved with any poodle. Hair does and should grow around the muzzle on toy poodles.

  • Hi Tonihana10, Thanks for your response. Could you please tell me if the poodle in your demo is a miniature poodle puppy or a toy poodle?

Also does Cleo have a smaller muzzle or a standard poodle muzzle? It seems impossible to find toy poodles with the shorter muzzles here in London UK. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

  • i Just got a mini poodle, and his hair needs to be trimmed, but his hair isnt like Cleo's its all crazy and weird, and we wanna know how we should trim it , what grooming tools would we need, any specific ones that you can tell me would be nice :P

  • Could you please help me? I really want to get a toy poodle but I notice that some poodles have longer faces than other and i would really like to get a teddy bear looking toy poodle as I prefer this look. Do all the toy poodles grow hair on their face in order to achieve this teddy bear look or do some not grow hair on their face? Can the cute teddy bear look that you have created in this video be achieved with all toy poodles? I look forward to your response, Kind regards

  • Great video! Cleo looks so amazing after! I wish my dog was easier to groom then she is. We think she is a Shih Poo, she has a small long nosed poodle face, and long poodle legs...But her body is that of a bigger build shih tzu!...And the hair is just sorta weird. lol I think Boots is adorable, but just breed some advise.

  • thats a good dog... I groome my own poodles and they dont stay put... oh well I still love them... im going to try this look now...

  • A good groomer also knows how to train the dog for the job. But that only works if customers bring their dogs every 4-6 weeks. The dog can remember. I loved the way the groomer was so calm and gentle, great job. loved it. I would trust her with my dog anytime. lovely!

  • Cleo is a good dog & the groomer's got some serious scissor skills. Thanks for the video.

  • aww she's so good in doing it.

  • cute

  • Thank you for the comments.

I know it's hard to handle puppies . You can't finish off grooming puppies in a haste. It takes time. The poodle in the demo has been our customer sicne she was puppy and she is used to getting groomed in our shop . That's the reason for her good manner.

Look at other dogs in my other video. we don't even need to use noose for them . They are very cooperative and relaxed. They behave incredibly well on the grooming table.

  • omg she is soo calm i cant even get the pet shop PUPPIES to be that calm even though they have seen me like 100 times

  • Not only did I notice what a great job you did with the grooming itself, but you were so gentle and calm with the dog, she looked very relaxed! I love seeing that in a groomer.

I was pretty blown away with the scissor work- it was so smooth and precise, and looked great. I hope I can be that good one day. :) Thank you so much for putting this video up, it helped me a lot!

  • how old is Cleo?

  • Thank you for your comments.

Yes, you can do Teddy Bear Clip on a standard poodle. Some people don't like "shaved poodle face". Then I recommend Teddy Bear Face on them.

Standard poodle leaving long hair on their legs looks gorgeous. It's perfect if you can brush and comb regularly.

  • so cute! but can you do this cut on a standard poodle?

  • I absolutely love this cut its a poodle cut groomers usually make my poodles bald and I really hate it oh also your a lovely groomer!!!

  • My family is picking up blue (dull metal) miniature poodle pup this weekend, and this is definitely the type of cut we will be keeping in mind, except the hair on the ears will probably be kept shorter because ours is a boy:-)

Can this cut be used even during the summer?

  • Just be sure to keep up on your brushing if you have a longer cut like this. Always brush the coat with a slicker brush/comb combination until there are no knots left. Need to brush every day if possible, but once a week is the most time you should go.

As for the cut and hot weather, it really just depends on your dog. If your Poodle is panting a lot and seems like it is too hot, go shorter.

  • that is gorgeous. Im possibly getting a miniature poodle puppy. the breeder is a groomer so i get to choose the cut i want. as its summer i asked to have a kennel cut and her fur sheered a bit closer to the body. I will deffinetly consider this cut for winter. Very nice work and very nice dog. I can only hope the groomer i chose around here(I will be looking) Is as big on keeping the experience positive for my dog. Do you have any suggestions on choosing a groomer?

  • very good groomer!!!! Your enjoying this session with care and love and it shows in the poodles confidence in you.

  • I agree, she's very calm, which helps. There are plenty of dogs out there who will freak out no matter what the groomer is like though, haha.

  • Thank you for your comments

One reason Cleo is so cooperative is because she comes to my shop regularly(every month). She knows that being groomed is fun and she allows the groomers to do what they do best. If your dog has matts and tangles in the coat, it's usually a painful and uncomfortable experience to be groomed if it's not done properly. The dog may try to get away with the grooming and jump off the grooming table. Cleo does not have such bad experiences.

  • That was a very good demo, Cleo is so cooperative, maybe she is used to your hands right? Grooming 2 of my poodles is a sort of battle where I do not know how to restrain them, I do not like to see them under stress and shivering. I like the idea of this style, but can you tell me how to achieve the fluffy length without getting tangled? should I shave them to start from scratch? please give me an idea, thanks

  • I think what they don't understand is that we don't all have dogs that will just SIT there and allow themselves to be touched and poked wherever!

  • :) dog never know how serious if he eat the scissor.

  • it looks easy when the dog coperates like that but my 4 month old puppy whants to eat my sisors

  • I would love to groom a poodle like that!
