I am a great fan of Nobuo Uematsu as well, and I was one of those people not expecting much from the FF13 OSTs after realizing that the composer was not Uematsu, but I dont agree with this. Most of the OSTs in the FF13 are ridiculously phenomall. While I was playing the game I kept saying to myself "these songs are way too good to be merely game OSTs".

The music was the only real link between the games other than someone named "Cid" and a few other random things. The fanfare is so well known that people who don't play games know what it is.

@chaff5 I agree that it'd have made it feel more like FF, but this game, the plot, the way things happen, it all feels FF. I've been playing them all for years, and I loved this game. The music is amazing, Nobuo Uematsu still has a great spot in my heart, but I know good music when i hear one. This game doesnt deviate that much i dont think though.

The battle music in this game is great, but the boss music is somewhat meh. I mean, I can see what they're trying to do, it sounds absolutely grand, and at around 0:49 it really starts to build up to something amazing, but never really gets there. I mean, even Final Fantasy XII, for all of its supposed flaws had absolutely epic (and this is using the term in it's rightful definition, not the memetic understanding of it) boss music.

well, ive never seen any other enemies casting Doom besides Eidolons in FF XIII. Maybe its because im still at the start of chapter 11, at Gran Pulse Steppe... Good to know that some of them can, so ill watch that carefully XD

FFXIII is very technical and beautiful in its own standing, but Nobuo's soundtracks always felt so complete and dynamic... I mean The Decisive Battle from both FFV and VI... Clash on the Big Bridge... Dancing Mad... Boss theme from FFIV... it really just doesn't get much better than that.

@d4rkokami i actually like ff13's battle theme more than any other, and this boss theme only really holds up to ff6's and maybe 7's. i'll never get enough of how people seem to think nobuo uematsu's apparently the only composer in japan capable of composing music at all for this series, when final fantasy x, xii, xiii, and tactics plainly state otherwise; i do know he was ONE of the composers for x and xii, but those are my two favorite soundtracks int he series and he didn't compose them alone

I didn't minus it at all, that was all the other people reading it. I just stated the facts. FF Boss themes to date (With the exeption of FF7) have been made either Orchestrated or Techno.

About the Dissidia soundtrack, almost every review gave thumbs up to the good soundtrack. There's a song to fit your taste no matter who you are. Nothing much else to say, guess you just didn't have the taste for them.

The loss of Uematsu is a sad thing for S-E indeed as this is pretty bland. I've not heard anything that's really made me go 'wow' yet. The tracks are... good, but not anything standout.
