try cyanogenmod 7 on that phone. your phone will become awesomely fast with that rom. It is a modified android OS. you can do tweaks on it and overclock your cpu :D

Heavily used it only last a day like every smartphone. With moderate use 2-3 days are also possible.

It can be done without rooting.

All you need to do is installing a recovery. There are various ways to do this. Once you have your working recovery, you just have to install a new rom from it.

The latest Cyanogenmod 7 nightly build works perfect on Gen 2 blade. Ive had it running for some days now and no problems.

It's called gyroscope. And yes all Blades have it. (Every android device has it. If not than it has only limited access to the google features.)
