Uechi-ryu is old type karate from Okinawa.

it has very strict training and closer to actual combat.

@b0rderbr0ther22 Only 4 styles of Karate? There's a lot more than that. First, you didn't even mention the first and oldest style, Okinawan Shorin Ryu. Shito Ryu is a hybrid of Shorin and Goju Ryu, and there's a difference between Japanese and Okinawan Goju. Uechi Ryu is actually about 20 years older than Kyokushin. Shorin, Goju and Uechi Ryu are all Okinawan, while Shotokan, Kyokushin, Shito and Wado Ryu are Japanese. Then there are offshoot styles like Isshin Ryu, Chito Ryu, Gosoku Ryu, etc.

Eu até que fiz alguns meses de aula na academia dele, mas acabei parando a pancadaria é muito pesada kkk, pelo menos a academia fica aqui na rua da minha casa, um dia talvez eu volte a treinar lá ^^

meus parabens sensei mta gente não conhece os estilos de karate de contato e começa a flar besteira mas graças ao seu trabalho e de muitos outros karatekas de verdade algum dia esta historia muda...eu me arrependo de não poder colaborar com isso ainda, mas acredito que todo karate deveria ser de contato como igual a todos os estilos .

@karatekareal , Todos os estilos de Karate são de contato, basta apenas você querer que seja. O principio do karate é a Defesa pessoal, concordo que alguns esquecem disso, mas se você treina o seu karate pra ele ser de contato, independentemente dos estilos, ele será de contato, e digo mais, será muito efetivo, tanto quanto o do Sensei Gustavo Sampaio, que não é do meu estilo, mas o adimiro mesmo assim.

@animejoao theres no protection in Karate Full Contact at all, thats why you cant hit in the face with hands just with legs. Unrealistic? why? you fight in the streets with gloves and gear in the head and use the same skills that you would use in the octagon? of course not. none competion of martial art shows the real world. it´s all about adaptation and you have to face reality in the street.

So it's obvious that he does practice Karate at certain points, but what gets me is, whenever he's doing an MMA bout or a kickboxing bout, I don't see ANYthing resembling Uechi Ryu training. Albeit, I am somewhat ignorant to the real depths of Uechi Ryu, but I just didn't really see any in the MMA/Kickboxing bouts. Maybe I miss something?

@Ronnock It is pure uechi-ryu, but in mma everyone knows that only one martial art is not enough, but 90% of his skils come from Uechi-ryu training. He practises Brazilian Jiu jitsu too of course.

UECHI-RYU is a hard style of Karate from Okinawa. It´s a full contact Karate, emphasizing realistic combat, physical toughness, and praticality in its training curriculum. Sensei GUSTAVO SAMPAIO is the best representant of it, recognized by the masters from Japan.

@faggio60 Truthfully, both in kickboxing and street fighting, virtually none. They both favor the same stance, low kicks, low kick combos, occasional advanced kicks, basic boxing with straights and such, physical toughness, etc... Uechi does have hella wrist bashes and slightly favors counters over regular faking and attacking...thats really about it :D

@ricardorel I have a Ni Dan in Uechi so i fealt it ok so correct your statment. Although uechi excells at Hard techniques it is only half hard.It is taught as hard/soft based on the circular Blocking and joint locks/throws found in some kata. Peace

Nah it's just at wado ryu and shotokan we use a different style of fightin but recently I discovered that this is also a famous fighting style

It´s beacuse shotokan is a semi-contact style and Uechi-ryu is full contact, probably that´s why it looks "weird" to you.
