Outsanding Girl! I Love That! I just found you about 10 minutes ago, and thought, who is this little beauty??? You are REALLY GREAT! Makes my old heart sing listening to you. Stay with us sweetheart. Thank you!!!
WOW,,,I got-ta play that over, God bless you young lady. Im 70 yrs old & lve been "messing" with a guitar for most of my life until a few yrs ago ( arthrites stop`ed that ) but l could never come close to playing like you. I`ll bet Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Jerry Reed, & a lot more are smileing down at you. l wish you the very best of luck...
Fantastic playing, great guitar and you look beautiful!
Please tell me how you learned to play like this. I have tried the alternate base note thing many times, but just can't get my thumb to be "independent". Any special drills or easier songs you can recommend?
Thanks for putting this and your other videos on YouTube - I'll keep coming back.
Flawlessly played! But I miss the sound of the Gretsch Filter-trons. To my ears, they beat the cold sounding Gibson hums every day of the week. Not a popular opinion, I know, but I've been playing 45 years, and I'm entitled to my opinion. But again - GREAT playing!
Wow.. we are witnessing a greatly talented musician just getting more assured and creative. The tradition is in safe hands and Marcel Dadi smiles down from above.
Wow!! Your Black Mountain Rag made goose pimples run down my spine. What a talent. You may not be the best but I've never heard anything better. I've got to go now. I've got to listen to your Black Mountain Rag one more time before I close. Well, maybe twice more.
If your videos had existed when I was in college, I never would have graduated! Right now, I need to go to work and my guitar is right over there . . . maybe I'll call in sick. You are the best. ~Jim
macyn, my toe just keeps a tappin. Love your guitar and don't agree with some of the neg comments re your vocals - you're the whole package - keep @em coming. From an english fan. Cheers
Today is my first introduction to you Macyn. Great job on the fingerstylye guitar picking. I even checked your other videos. I'm now a subscriber and I added you as a friend. Please check out my channel. I to play the guitar but, not as well as you do.
I really enjoy your playing! I know Chet and his family would be so impressed by you musical phrasing and by your beautiful, sunny smile! Have you been to CAAS? And if not, give me a scream and I will help you get an invitation!
Please let me know if I can be of any help to you in your future musical endeavors.
sorry folks but Leo did Not write Black Mt Rag, It's an old fiddle tune written probably before Leo was born. Good job on chet's arrangement though. Saw a couple of her other vids. VERY nice playing.
Macyn your playing just keeps getting better and better all the time. I enjoyed this video a lot. That must be a "dairyland" tractor in the background :) Where did you get that Gibson? Pretty nice. Best wishes to you.
I got this guitar from the father of a deceased Vietnam War veteran. It was his son’s. Captain Ronald Alan Ross was killed in battle on October 31, 1969. I played this guitar at a veteran’s memorial dedication in his home town with an actual rubbing from the wall displayed on the guitar. Not a dry eye in the park. I have physical possession of this guitar, but spiritual ownership is still the Captain’s.
@busker12 Oh, that is so very special, Macyn. Thank you so much for passing along this info. What a treasure you have and it is meaningful to me, too. I was sailing around Vietnam on a Navy ship when Captain Ross was killed (yes, I'm THAT old).
SweeeeeeT !!!! and finally a piece with an electric guitar, nicely produced GREAT background , and this time the camera person got the before and after smile !!!
Hi Macyn, always great to see new guitar work from you! Very nice Gibson archtop you have there. Gonne rewind and play again, can't get enough. Any plans to travel to Europe?
"Black Mountain Rag" is actually an amalgam of the first half of Keith's "Black Mountain Blues" with the second half of his "Clinch Mountain Blues." According to Keith, another fiddler put the two half-tunes together because he couldn't play the second half of "Black Mountain Blues."
I have recordings of both original tunes on a long-ago vinyl LP, the only one Leslie Keith ever made.
Deliverance much?
Ko good playing
