I guess it is the same old story everywhere where nightclubs are concerned. Minimized expenses and maximized profits. This explains the expired insurance of the building if it is true. And the single exit to ensure no non-paying guests. And non-adherence to the building fire code. And do whatever to bring in the crowds even if it is illegal like fireworks, pyrotechnics, etc...These places are fire-hazards and if you are foolish to visit one, stay close to the exit...just in case.

Stupid club s owner did not renew insurance - or the insurance did not want to renew because the building did not meet the safety regulations. The owner was busy supporting the PAD yellow-shirts so did not pay attention to the club's fire safely systems.

Hi, my friend!When I saw the Church likely club,with a huge Cross ( which is for Christian people the highest symbol of Christianity) I realized that the name really fits to that koncept. Saint,or San is a high respect holy word put when given names to holy personalities. San Joseph,The holy spirits (espiritu santo)..comming from latin the word SANTika,referred as HOLY-(whatever)..SANTOS & SANTAS are the holy spirits( as we call them in my country)

My apologies to anyone who may have found this in poor taste. This is a promotional video I received a few nights ago that was played just before midnight on New Year's Eve. I was in Santika with several friends during the fire and while I witnessed some fireworks that didn't seem to go off as planned, I didn't see any obvious indication that this is what started the flames which began directly above the band in the ceiling.

A little too ironic in the naming of the event as "Goodbye Santika" when it truly was the end of the place and of innocent lives. What a shame. When are people going to learn that you can NOT use pyrotechnics and fireworks INSIDE nightclubs. The same thing caused the deaths of 100 and injuries to over 200 in the US at a club in Rhode Island. Neither of these tragedies had to happen. God rest in peach the souls lost here at the beginning of 2009.
