  • lol when u wave the comb it looks as if its wobbly lol u have helped me a lot

  • first off you need to make sure the hair is 100% kanekalon. this ensures that the sealing process will stay longer. Also it is important to maintain your dreads, i.e. after a three month period remove them, reseal them and there you'll have it good as new. The backcombing process needs to be done while securly holding the hair! if you don't its obveous what is going to happen, the hair will fall out of the candy cane. youre welcome

  • I always have strands of hair come out when backcombing so they end up a tad thinner than I would want. It also wastes hair. How do I stop that?

  • That happens to me too. I've never been able to stop it. I find it also depends on the brand of hair too.

  • I dont back comb mine but they turn out the way i want them to but you can get the synthetic weave/hair lol for 99 cents.

i got 6 packs and made one pair of falls but i can wear one and it would make my head look full =)

  • I prefer to backcomb as I find the dreads to be sturdier and hold up better.

  • Yeah yesterday i tried it , it turned out really good =).

  • where do you get the synthetic hair at?

  • This is so neat!

But I have a question...is there a certain technique to backcombing where you don't have lumps or anything?

Because when I backcomb, it mkaes the hair shorter and lumpy and I can't get it right!

Technique or is it just lots of practice?

  • Honestly, it's just a matter of practice. If you find you're getting lumps, stick the comb through it and give a wiggle to loosen it up. Then you can try to even it out.

The hair will get shorter with backcombing anyway. to get longer or shorter dreads, I just vary the amount of hair I use. Some people like to cut the hair though or stagger it but I don't like doing that.

  • I have the same problem, I use many synthetic hair, and when I backcomb, the dread shrunk, I have to use many more synthetic hair, and nevertheless I make dreads (and fake, extensions, etc...) since very long time.I do not have to have the good technique. I use synthetic hair jumbo, I backomb, then I plunge them into very warm water, and I end the end with another source of heat. It is good or not for you ?

  • You have to make sure to smooth it out and stretch it back down after backcombing, I do the backcombing in small sections and it works fine for me.

  • Go on eBay and search

"Super Silky Jumbo Braid for Hair Extensions"

    Will that work?

  • I imagine it would. Be sure to include the word Kanekalon or KK in your search though.

  • My candycanes fail lol.

  • Heh so does everyones at first. You just have to keep practicing.

  • Cheers, that really helped =)

Better video quality might of helped and sound was quite quiet at times, but overall thats really useful!

  • Yeah my camera really sucks. I'm saving for a new one at the moment. I'm glad you found it helpful overall though.
