  • Give this man your money now. He deserves all the money and respect that is to give. Take money from Rihanna and those fuckers who cant sing properly and give to this guy.

  • This is amazingly done... one of my friends posted this on "feibu" and this is the first time I heard of this guy. And I've just become a fan. The harmony between his mouth trumpet and his guitar is brilliant! That's talent right there! @_@

  • fuck ray Charles and stevey wonder this guy is bad ass. I WANNA BE RICH !

  • if it wasn't for Dave I never would have known Raul. Thank god that the late show is aired in Denmark. It's a killer album

  • awesome!

  • goodness gracious... was he lip-buzzing from 2:01 onwards?? i'm learning trumpet and if he's pure lip-buzzing, that's the CRAZIEST i've ever heard! Someone give him a brass instrument..!

  • @28crucis check mouth trumpet on youtube, it's not lip-buzzing

  • @Eyescreamg Oh.. thanks alot!

  • la cantidad de gente que hay con un talento increible y simplemente no tienen la oportunidad de brillar, viva la musicaa !! y las oportunidades verdaderas !! ^^

  • O_O

    WOW,increible...Es todo un hombre orquesta

  • Talk about a "one man band" !! :)

  • Fucking Amazing

  • I'm gonna trow my guitar away.

  • ops!!!

  • Wow, qué bueno!!!!!!!

  • Instant EARGASM

  • id give one of my eye to him...not even kiddin

  • OH MY GOD!

  • favorite!

  • Wow! He is to the guitar what Stevie Wonder is to the keyboard! His voice and trumpet are equally as good! Our world has been blessed by incredibly gifted people and given their handicap makes them more incredible. I also think of other blind musicians like Ray Charles(one of my old favorites) Jose Feliciano, George Shearing, Errol Garner and singers like Andrea Bocelli. They have a sensitivity and emotion that exceeds the norm and have proven no matter how great the burden, it can be overcome!

  • I've seen him perform live and it was one of the greatest performances I have ever seen in my life.

  • always there is a blind person that better than you ...... or an asian guy..

  • Great song and MAN!

  • He is amazing! (:

  • great

  • Its a genius...new stevie wonder

  • wow

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Most Taleneted People are Blind, I.E Stevie Wonder, Raul Midon. Amazin'

  • AwEsOmE!!!!!

  • du caralho

  • and he's blind.. God Bless him..

  • @jobrocker if god would have blessed him he would gave him eyesight... god my ass...

  • @jingeshan24 God blesses us all...just in different ways.

  • @PABWECG if being blind is a blessing than i dont want to have any connection to that god... he must be one horrible person to hang out with!

  • @jingeshan24 I hope it's obvious that wasn't what I meant.

God blessed him with an incredible musical talent and a desire to pursue it.

He also happens to be blind...but none of us is physically "whole" - we all have weaknesses; maybe not blindness, but something else; and we all have gifts.

So, just because he's blind, it doesn't mean God didn't bless him - that's my point.

  • @PABWECG let's just agree that god didn't bless anyone ok? XD

    he was geneticlly unlucky...

  • @jingeshan24 Sorry, no can do :D

How could he be genetically unlucky with talent like that? ; )

  • @PABWECG talent is something you develop. he was born geneticlly superior to the majority with his musical hearing, however without hard work all that talent is worth nothing.

he is genetically unlucky because being born blind is a bitch... no matter what religious twist you add to it there is no pretty way to tell it - the dude's blind and he's fucked for his entire life. (at least untill scientists will invent a mechanical eye. and they are close to achive that! :D)

  • @jingeshan24 I agree with you, really I do...on both your points.

And I DON"T believe that he was born blind as some sort of gift from God. But to say that he's fucked is to feel sorry for him. I don't think he feels sorry for himself, nor does he want anyone else's pity - for all we know, his life is a whole lot less fucked than your average person with perfect physical health who simply wastes the whole damn thing because he always takes it for granted.

  • @PABWECG i'm sure he lives his life to the fullest but you can't deny the fact his disability has drawbacks on his life... i dont pity him, but i do wanna mention that being blind is ain't no picnic...

  • @jingeshan24 Of course that's true, and I don't mean to minimize it, I really don't.

  • @jingeshan24 He wasn't born blind. He was born premature. He and his twin brother were given inadequate eye protection in the incubator. As for him being "fucked," you need to get a grip. Go ahead-- ask HIM if he's "fucked."

  • @baronvonsatan being "fucked" in that matter is not a subjective question but a factual issue. no metaphor or expression in the world will ever change the fact that the dude is blind and he will remain one, and that's no picnic.

and even if he wasn't BORN blind, he lost his eyesight almost at birth, which is literally the same thing (timewise, obviouslly not medically because non-genetical blindness is treatable in some cases) so the circumstances regarding his blindness don't really concern me.

  • Okay, most things you hear on radio is just entertainment with some music and some lah-lah-lyrics on it. If you're looking for music in its true form (especially here on YouTube), make sure you go for artists like this. Raul Midón is a treasure, bro!

    Thanks Luluptilu for sharing this!

  • I came to realize that David Letterman didn't even know who he was introducing to his show that night because he didn't bother to even check to see who Raul Midon was. Just another talent the dave was doing a favor for. But actually, he did you a favor dave.

What a beautiful spirit filled talent that blesses all of us! Thank you Raul for all that you are and all that you do. Blessing's and abundance to you brother!

  • This real music

  • this is groove.... this is soul.... this is gift :)

  • How wonderfully refreshing to hear a genuine talent! Outstanding!

  • Now, this is what I'm talking about! TALENT ! ! !

  • Wow!

  • he is blind too #amazing

  • The guy needs a trumpet player...

  • This man's God given gift goes way beyond the intro you gave him Dave, shame on you. Raul's talented gift touches the soul...!

  • Awesome !

  • thumbs up if joel bring you here

  • Awesome TALENTED!!!! Love It. Love your state of MIND!!!!!

  • This musician is heaven sent...there is no other explanation for his talent.

  • toooo cool.

  • Amazing! So fucking amazing!

  • ... I created a drum part for this...

  • @pedrumb I think he doesnt need a drum part..

  • @LittleBigToaster ...of course not. I just did it for pedagogical reasons.

  • I just saw Raul for the first time in film - Still Bill - the documentary about Bill Withers (composer of Lean on Me). The two of them worked on a song called Mi Amigo Cubano that is wonderful. he also did that virtual trumpet thing, but not in harmony w/ the guitar like on this song. This guy is one of the most talented musicians alive.

  • Hi All, I am an Aussie soul/blues singer and a BIG fan of Raul Midon. I heard this track on the radio and couldn't get to the record store quick enough. Hope you take the time to check out my channel and enjoy what I do. Best wishes- John

  • @ELLIE - THIS IS SO GOOD AND A REAL SONG

  • 14 people prefer the auto tuned bullshit that will never make up for authentic talent. Fuck Autotuned bullshit, fuck american Idol and fuck the bullshit boyband industry!

  • Incredible!

  • Doesn't matter if the part at 1:12 was a mistake. Raul is clearly an unreal talent. The guy is a gift to us from god. Next time we complain about anything, we should listen to THIS. Astounding talent. Most likely he was going for a harmonic at 1:12.

  • derroche de talento

  • O cara é uma banda inteira !!!

  • I saw him at the Lincoln Center almost 2 years ago. He is truly amazing.

  • That part at 2:17-2:30 where he harmonizes with himself is just crazy.

  • @SuperCalderon1 I think it may be the guitar along with his mouth

  • Completely brilliant. I agree with arthurhrodrigues - 14 people are deaf!

  • Hell yea

  • Just plain "WOW!!"

His guitar playing reminds me of Tuck, of Tuck & Patti fame. And if you're not familiar with T&P, please take the time to find and listen to some of their music.

  • grosooooooooo! impresionante, un maestro. me emocionó a flor de piel

  • 14 people are deaf.

  • Absolutely TOP STUFF! * * * * *Thanks for posting Luluptilu=D

  • @robitaille03 me too. i walkjed in home late this had just come on and i was like holy $%^ and I knew right away that every musician in the world would love this guy. I bought his iTunes album about 30 seconds after this letterman show ended and have seen him once live and keep checking to see when he's coming back to DC.

  • i cant' believe that this man is blind, that proves that if you set your mind on somthing you can do anything.

  • There are only a few perfect performances in the music world..

Luther "a house is not a home, or superstar live" maxwell "a womans worth"

  • DID HE REALLY JUS DO DAT WIT HIS MOUTH?!?!

  • @futurebassist001

  • My good friend Jordan can play this...Great song!!

  • Flawless!!! 5stars!!

  • The best of talents

  • Fantastic!!!

  • OMGGGGGGGGGGGG this is epic! i love him now

  • Hooooly shit. Starting at 2:17, I thought he was trumpeting out chords with his voice. I was like, how the hell do you sing a chord?! Then I realized he was doing it with the guitar too. I love this guy.

  • wauw!

    He`s really cool!! :-p

    I love this video!

  • amazing

  • Brilliant

  • please hear the dramatic pause in this video (Long version) of the song at 1:40. its the same raul, its the same pause, but well executed. its my opinion.

  • plenna 007, the dramatic pauses in the other versions, are clean and perfectly executed according to the tempo and harmony; the pause at 1:12, sounds noisy, im sure that if you ask raul, he would agree. i repeat, its the ONLY mistake in this incredible performance. (Sorry about my english, its my second language).

  • Brilliant, well-executed performance! The pause at 1:12 was not a mistake! It's a dramatic pause, that is corroborated by his other youtube versions of "State of Mind". He has total command of his guitar and vocal independence. Continued success Raul! Que viva la musica!

  • @plena007 talk about multi tasking...unbelievable.

  • @plena007 your right mate, but he did miss the harmonic :)

  • @plena007 very true even on the album he hits a harmonic thats wat he was trying to do his a genius end of!

  • a keller willimas wanna be? guys talentd but guys have been playing like this for awhile

  • they kindaa similar but they're very different too, dont try and compare, just enjoy

  • haggardphunk: Similar in only the most surface of comparisons. It seems your observations outnumber your insights.

  • @haggardphunk - tell me one other guy you have ever seen that can play like this AND sing this well at the same time?

  • @leelarsen Well, John Mayer does a decent job too.. (Neon, Stop This Train, Who Did You Think I Was, Wait Until Tomorrow, Belief) Though I have to admit Raul sure as hell has a better voice!

  • @leelarsen stevie wonder

  • Beautiful.

  • he is human...

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my god...this is freakin' unbelievably amazing!

  • Words fail me...this is true talent...raw...giftedness (if there's such a word) is what this is. Give thanks!

  • soy guitarrista flamenco vivo en granada españa.eres un genio, corazon y furia ole tu

  • I LOVE THIS MAN! *_*

  • I love Raul and had the chance to interview him in Manila at the 2008 Philippine Jazz Fest. He also did a workshop the dat before his performance and he showed it all. Scatting with voice harmony on the guitar, comping. He even did his own version on Coltrane's 'Giants Steps' and soloed with harmony on voice and guitar. Amazing!

  • Get this song ringtone for your cellphone for free here tinyurl(.)com/yb3eczn

  • God was unfair in dividing talent.. this guy's got the talent of at least a 100 'normal' guitar players. Respect man, i love it!
