I just came across this set today (the tripod plus the same SBH-100 ballhead, the set was numbered as 263AB 100) at a store that was remodelling and it was on sale for quite a good price. Did some research on my smartphone in store and decided to buy it. I will be using it for macro but I also do tabletop work and I like that it will make it easier for me to shoot straight down over a table when I want the table to be level with the camera.

I have a Vanguard SBH-250 ballhead and a Vanguard Alta-Pro 264-AT tripod. The quality and the price are amazing. This is great stuff for beginners who don't have a ton of cash to blow.

@DAVAIO It's the SBH-100 ball head. They're is a kit available that includes this tripod and head, that's called the 263AB 100

I just bought a Vanguard 233AP at Fry's for $49.99. I was trying to decide between the one I got & the one you are reviewing. I use it for long exposures & macro.
