Empire 2 Total War should be a map of the whole world based in the 19th century. Have Napoleons game mechanics like looting and Vassal states after defeat and interchangeable structures. It should have America, Mexico, Brazil, Britain, France, Spain, Prussia, Austria, Russia, Ottoman Empire, Piedmont-Sardinia(Uniter of Italy), China, Japan all be playable factions and then some like Netherlands, Maratha, Siam, Ethiopia could be made playable as well possibly.

I can't see that working. The latest conflict the Creative Assembly could do well would be the First World War.

My hope is that the next release (after Fall of the Samurai) will be something akin to "Victoria: Total War", lasting from around 1830 to 1918 (yes, I know that Queen Victoria died in 1901, but, as far as I'm concerned, the First World War was the end of that era).

And editor containing every kind of headwear, coat, gaiters, small clothes, cut of lapels etc. of every style and era of the 18th century. And of course the option to decide what facing colour a unit should have on it's lapels; indeed, if it should have lapels at all. Every conceivable aspect of 18th century uniformology included and at your disposal. Such an editor alone would make me occupied with that game for an eternity.

Sorry for ranting. I got a bit excited at the thought!

Not only were there unique national attributes in uniforms, but every nation changed uniforms at least three times during that century.

Why not make the making and design of unit packs available and accessable to the ordinary player! Kind of as you can design your avatar and to some degree your army in Shogun 2 mp, only much more advanced in terms of options. I mean, the Creative Assembly should have the money to buy a few illustrated books and implement the information into an editor?

18th century warfare was not as rigid as Hollywood will have it. Nor as bloody - if people fell for musket fire at the rate they do in "the Patriot" and "Barry Lyndon", such a battle would be over in a matter of minutes. They weren't.

Historical inaccuracy is also displayed in the game's uniforms. Although modders have done some to redeem this, it's still a far fetch from even remotely depict the variety and specifics of 18th century uniforms.

follow reality of 18th century warfare. Especially since they "pride" themselves inn their historical accuracy. History is full of records of 18th century formations dissolving at the first crack of musket fire, with everyone drawing closer the the center and thus maybe have a depth of 7 guys in the centre but only 2 on the flanks - "bouching", i think was the 18th century term for it. Furthermore there are plenty of records of enitre formations advancing on their bellies! Crawling!

I hope they make an Empire 2. Not the coming one, that would be too soon, but maybe the one after that. Then they could get everything right they got wrong in the first Empire, and expand on what they did good - trade and transcontinental colonies, for example. Furthermore units should not behave so rigid in battle; any 18th century general would absolutely adore the stoic nature of the ETW soldier, but such soldiers didn't exist. One thing I have learned:

Never use muskets against anything. By the time they are loaded, the enemy has already burned through most of the musketeers. If that doesn't happen, they probably shoot eachother. Friendly fire. So stick with bows and arrows.

Historically, England's navy was always superior to Frances, France just wouldn't risk a invasion of England since it's navy would be destoryed in the process, Trafalgar proves this.

You can only play ETW if you have downloaded steam, made an account and then you need to activate the game with the code on the back of the manual.
