Recycling uses more energy and causes more pollution than throwing waste in landfill and mining the resources needed for production. Typical environmentalists are severely handicapped by their willful ignorance of the most powerful tools in nurturing the environment: Private property rights and the free market price mechanizm.
I think americans just don't know enough of this guy. He is fucking amazing. Stop corporate america. Stop international police america. Investigate 9/11. Stop false flag fucking wars. Stop democratic pupetshow. Stop media manipulation. Stop economic hitmans. Completely change America. We need this guy in 2012!!
ralph nader can't reach all the americans like the other two partys can, they spend tons of money on commercials and adds to get their face and name into your head. sadly they sell their souls to lobbyists to afford their campaines.
I am not even an American but I absolutely love everything that R.N. says and how he unfalteringly stands by his beliefs and sticks up for the small guy and how he lays the blame for society's problems at the door of corporations and globalization. I believe his view of the 2 party system in the US is correct, I feel very passionately that we as a race need to support and foster incorruptable, unyielding and radical thinkers and social reformers such as the honorable and awe-inspiring R. Nader
I am proud to have voted for Nader in 2008, and don't regret it at all. What a great president he would be. I like this interview because he smiles, something he rarely did in prior interviews.
thank you for voting for RN. So many americans believe in him but are disilusioned and keep on voting on the big guys. Its always great to see that there are people like you out there, and if I was american I would be pround of having RN representing america.
I voted for him as well and saw him speak at Loyola Marymount. He is incredible. He is all about true American values. I was so excited to talk to him and got his book The Seventeen Traditions and he wrote in it "for the children" signed Ralph Nader. I will treasure that book forever. I know he would have been the best man for the job of Presidency. Instead Most American chose hypocrites.
I also voted for Ralph. He is a True Hero. Obama and McCain are actors who read and follow scripts written for them by their corproate and banker masters. Other real heroes/leaders: Mike Gravel, Cynthia McKinney, Ron Paul.
the television media creates the way we view these elections. they create the elections. i cannot believe the deception. imagine the america we could create if only the people were opened up to more information and candidates. this america could truly be a country of knowledge, imagination, tolerance, and peace. i say it is time the local communities got together in new yet old fashion. the local communities must take power back. the constitution was created to limit government not freedom.
Imatmaca, you misunderstood the question. He asked if Nader would stop his campaign in exchange for an unspecified government position. Basically he's asking if Nader would be bribed to drop out of the race. He said no.
That's right. Any support McCain gets is taken away from Ralph Nader and Cynthia McKinney. Any support Obama gets is taken away from Nader and McKinney.
I've heard Ron Paul speak once on YouTube. Sounds great. But, face it - he's a loser, until he proves that he can break himself free from the taxpayer-supported, freeloading terrorist Republicrat party.
So, there's nothing special about Ron Paul.
Looking forward to Ralph Nader and Matt Gonzalez winning tonight!
It's a shame that your pathetic electoral system doesn't allow a true patriot like Nader to, at least, to be proportionally represented. Let the man debate for fuck sake
Ralph Nader wouldn't drop out of the race and endorse Gore, so Bush won. He mistakenly thought Gore was going to win by a landslide. He used bogus polls to show Bush still would have won to get forgiveness. He never considered his endorsement votes.
But as far as the representation goes, that is all the Media (Fox, CNN), Lobby groups (AIPAC), and unions.
Electoral system is (kind of) a way of grouping communities against cities for fairness.
Had Gore won his home state of Tenn he would have won the election. Sad to blame the fact the Dems caved into the Republican money machine on someone who has used his entire life to better yours.
Nader had absolutely nothing to do with Bush "winning" the election. Do some research and you will see how it was done. Yes, it was "stolen", but not by Nader. Similar to when JFK's Dad enlisted The Mob to get votes for JFK. Not that I didn't like JFK. Nader is an authentic American hero, who has spent his entire life helping the American public, people like yourself, and continues to do so. Check out his bio if you have ANY doubts.
Blaming Nader for Bush getting elected is getting very old. If your candidate is sooo great then how can lil ole Nader steal their fathful supporters vote? What you are saying is,"Damn you Nader for having such a great stance on the issues that you were able to persuade people to vote for you!" are you ssaying?,"People can not choose for themselves, how dare he he give Americans a choice?
Youtube could have the debates by splicing the major players along with several of the other candidates together so that the not anointed ones could convey their thoughts on the same questions and in so doing level the playing field. Youtube might also consider commercial time to advertise this program during the debate.
cndysh, brilliant idea!!! Also why don't all the other candidates create an alternative to the presidential debates. Call it "The REAL Presidential Debates" and air it on competing commercial channels - invite Obama & McCain to debate. Of course they won't but at least it will expose the current political manipulation by the Rebublican Democrats.
Vote and rally up votes for the GREATEST PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE OF ALL TIME [RALPH NADER] before it's too late for all of us that are not RICH,you feel me?
Youtube....you guys have a lot of power....us ground guys and girls are for Nader...How do we get the debates to have Nader's voice heard? Please do more interviews with Ralph Nader.
So I didn't get my numbers straight. I don't go checking websites before I post something each and every time. My point was that Kerry
and the Democrats voted for the war. They could've stopped it and they didn't. And they, Obama included, have continually voted for each and every war approporiation put in front of them.
The Dems were voted in in 2006 promising that they would stop the war and they the didn't (that's from my own memory, not some website.)
nportillo73 thank you for stating that these democrats seem to forget that. they ran on that in 06 and have done nothing but suport the high gas and the war
If they would let him in the debates his numbers would go way up. The corporate-sponsored Dem/Rep run Commission on Presidential Debates won't let any third party candidate get on stage with them ("Change"?)
In 92, Perot was at 6% before the debates; he finished at 19%. In 96, the CDP-through a deal brokered between the Dems and Reps- did not allow Perot to debate.
Jess Ventura was at 10% before the televised debate, and won as a result of such.
Nader should be prosecuted as an accessory to mass murder and torture. His arrogant candidacy in 2000 produced a completely foreseeable outcome for which he is culpable: the Bush presidency and its monstrous policies: Iraq, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo. Anyone who voted for this Republican-funded jerk also has blood on their hands.
Could you be any more ignorant? The Florida election was fixed, regardless of Nader's presence, for which there is ample proof. 9/11 was a predetermined event sponsered by our own country's industrial/military complex, as defence reports co-authored prior by Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheyney make apparent. The contracts granted to Boeing, Halliburton, and Lockheed Martin seem justification alone.
There, Nader supporters, stroking themselves vigorously, cast 22,000 votes that decisively handed over 4 electoral votes to Bush and Cheney. But I see you are also a 9/11 conspiracy nut, which means basic logic escapes you. Hey, who was on those planes, dude? U.S. government agents on a suicide mission? Were they flying the planes as well? Or were they robot controlled? Please don't post any more stuff for me to read. I won't read it.
You shouldn't make the mistake of romanticizing Al Gore, an extension of the Clinton years. Millions of Iraqis died during the Clinton administration as a result of medieval embargos. Gore's sainthood and enviromental advocacy is a recent phenomena.
As for funding, as revealed in the press yesterday, Obama has been the recipient of huge corporate bundling packages. His limited voting record as a Senator is hardly impressive....it's actually oppressive. There is no distinction between the Republican and Democratic parties. It's one Big Corporately Owned Fascist Party. Wake Up.
To assert that there is no difference between the Bush administration and Democrats indicates that your powers of basic reasoning are nonexistent. You can thank yourself for Bush's policies if you voted for Nader in 2000. You might make yourself feel special saying the things you do, but in the PRACTICAL world, which you should visit some time, your positions and your actions have extremely negative and bloody results. But you're clearly in deep denial about all this.
save two? Where do you get your information? YOUR IGNORANCE IS ONE REASON WHY THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ALLOW THIS SHIT TO HAPPEN. FULL DISCLOSURE: On October 11, 2002, the United States Senate voted 77-23 in favor of Joint Resolution 114 -- the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002. Only ONE sensible Republican, Lincoln Chafee from Rhode Island voted against the war. 23 SENATORS VOTED NO. 156 HOUSE MEMBERS VOTED NO. DO YOUR DAMN RESEARCH.
Do my research lol! Yeah, like you had all that sh*t remebered in your head when you posted all that. As if you didn't go to some web site and get that info then come back. Trying to pass off like you knew all that off the top of your head, trying to tell someone to do you research.
I meant to say 2 Republicans and one independent, cuz' that's what always stuck out in my mind, that they were so outspoken about it.
What did I allow to happen?!? You over-blowin' proportion mf!
Supporters of Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, and Mike Gravel:
It is imperative that you vote for Ralph Nader in the upcoming general elections this November. Nader is the one running candidate remaining that promises to bring US Military Personnel home from Iraq and to put a stop to the increasing military threats against Iran and Russia.
Cynthia McKinney = the Green Party candidate. She supports a smaller government and decentralization.
Although I do not like ANY politicians, the politicians I have found who are truly for the people are the following.
Cynthia McKinney (Green Party), Mike Gravel (Libertarian), Ralph Nader (Independent) and maybe Ron Paul (Republican -- he wasn't a hypocrite, he was for the people but with his form of 'libertarianism', corporations would take control).
We live in the information age, this "blame nader" for 2000 is unfounded and nobody has any excuse not to know what really happened. The people who keep saying that are very closed minded and ignorant. Anyone who truly wants change, and hasn't been a victim of brain erosion will never consider someone like Obama based on his record.
HELP ME MEET RALPH NADER ! The Nader campaign is running a contest for who can add the most people to their e-mail list. The winner gets to have dinner with Ralph and its my dream to meet my idol. Please help me reach my goal, it takes very little effort on your part, just email me at: workers_of_the_world@yahooDOTcom
Not too many people know how to vote. You vote for who you like-not to eat BK vs Micky Ds. coporate america will continue to enslave and deprive people of healthcare and a living wage, so that the rich get richer. The rich never have problems, politicians have the best healthcare.I will vote for who I like.2004 was a big mistake,I wanted loser #2 and look what my vote got me. Angry. I gave some idiot I didn't like my vote-and he wouldn't have been that much better.Wake up people!
We are not shocked when a candidate moves to the center for the general election. But Mr. Obama's shifts are striking because he was the candidate who proposed to change the face of politics, the man of passionate convictions who did not play old political games.
Conspiracy Theory is the propagandist label given by the source who wants you to question nothing. "Whatever you do, don't think ___ or you're a nut." Most with suspicious ideas about power have a better idea about what is going on around them than those who question nothing. And, what isn't "pop" culture these days? Oswald WAS a patsy! ;)
Good points. Love Chomsky. The more I unintentionally learn about 9-11, the more I'm convinced there is a possibility of malevolent conspiracy. I'm not too concerned about it at this point (nor have I ever been...nihilist that I am), and wouldn't be surprised if the current administration WAS involved in an indirect planning of the specific event.
The government IS always lying (or at least meeting and acting in secret these days = conspiracy), but just not all of the government is lying.
Ralph Nader....What a SAD, PATHETIC man you've become -- a bigot, racist, FAT PIG. You're old news dude, like the rest of the old farts from your era you're the past, you're mind is old, you're ideas are old, your're rhetorics are old, you're OLD period. Crawl back in your hole until you get sick and eventually die and disappear. If attention is what you want old man, I'm giving you mine -- here it is.
What is that saying, about when you have no logical argument, resort to name-calling? So is this your rationale for why we should support your party...? Uh, no thanks. I'll pass.
Doesn't listening to Ralph just clear your head? It shakes off the trance of major media coverage of the platitudes of the current Dem and Rep candidates........
TRUE. He makes Obama look like the slick charlatan he is and McCain look like the murderous warmonger he is.
If Ron Paul doesn't re-enter the race as an Independent/3rd party, I am going to give serious consideration to voting for Ralph Nader. Like Paul, he is a man who fights tooth and nail for his beliefs and has a well defined, CLEARLY recognizable philosophical core. He's NOT afraid to tell you what he believes and doesn't give a damn what anyone thinks.
On domestic policy they do differ, but on goreign policy they are the best candidates as they're not only against the Iraq war, they're against huge spending on the military on occupational foreign policy including in Afghanistan, and also against military aid to factions & foreign countries that always backfires on US national secuity blamed for Israle oppression of Gaza, rise of Musharff as military dictator, led to ride of Bin Laden , gave the gas to Suddan
Yes I agree. They are BOTH great patriots and understand the new reality of 21st century foreign policy (UNLIKE the mainstream of the 2 big Parties). They are both in my list of TRUTH tellers.
My 4 GREAT truth tellers (my HEROES):
Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, Dennis Kucinich, & Mike Gravel.
I'm thinking about adding 1 more "conservative", Chuck Baldwin, to my list so we can balance things out between the left and the right here. Yes, agree him or not, Chuck Baldwin is a truth teller too
Infact Ralph Nader and Ron Paul recognise a failed US foreign policy that goes as far back as Kennedy funding the failed Ba of Pigs invasion to overthrow Catro that led to the Cuban Missile Crisis. These 2 candidates stand for real change. One listen to obama's AIPAC speech & you'll see he'll continue this failed cycle and has committed US to be dragged into war with Israel should they make a foolish attack on Iran.
This election needs to be a turning point on foreign policy.
Yes. Obama's asskissing speech to AIPAC last weak made me sick and downright angry. A friend of mine said "Oh don't worry, he doesn't really mean all that". I said "If he means all that we're going SCREWED with the Arabs, and if he doesn't it means he is a bold face liar." I can't respect him either way. I think he probably doesn't really think all that, but is going to give AIPAC EVERYTHING they want to get and keep his power.
Obama or McCain WILL be a DISASTER! We're SCREWED.
I completly agree with you. All these independent candidates are paving the way for a third party at least a de facto third party, where they are in complete agreement in a non military & non nuclear interventionist foreign policy which endangers lives & leads to debt on military spending. Eventually they'll balance themselves out on approach to domestic policy by compromising, but not surrendering to the special intersts. The most exciting part of this election for me is seeing this foundation.
What I wonder is: Would all of us in the anti war, anti mainstream factions on both the left and the right be able to put our differences on domestic economic issues, and abortion, etc. aside and UNITE under ONE common umbrella in a mutual mission to SMASH the Republican/Democrat mainstream's hegemony of power so as to bring a new 3rd Party to the Presidency?
I pray that Ron Paul will get back into the race, run 3rd party, and pick someone like Dennis Kucinich to be his running mate.
I don't think they will become an actual 3rd party, but essentially they are a de facto 3rd party in their beliefs on foreign policy. Just looking at the comments on this page you can see supporters of independents on both sides have respect for the others.
Do you think Ron Paul has something up his sleeve? Do you think he'll get back into the race as an Independent/3rd Party candidate? If there ever was a time a third party candidate could WIN, '08 is the year that it is possible. But I think Ron Paul is the only one, right now, who could pull it off. He's got the following. He's got the grass roots. He's got the fundraising ability. He's GOT the internet. He's the one.
Yes, and he's booked an 11,000 seat basketball arena just across town from the GOP Convention and invited all of us, his supporters, to attend as "delegates".
God I want to be there!!!!!
If he picks the right running mate, I still think he could WIN, or at the very least REALLY shake things up BIG TIME.
You've got to LOVE it. Ron Paul is sly as a fox, and is a friggin' genius.
But "yes" or "no": Do you think he's really going to do it?
I'm not sure. I think he's keeping his options open. I know how his supporters feel, but it rests on whether he wants to coninue campaigning or whether he wants to continue the message without campaigning. Either way he's still a factor in the election and the future direction of policy. Many politicians lose an election and are forgotten, but those that stand on a real platform have a long lasting impact through their supporters on a continued cause.
If he doesn't run THIS year the GREAT opportunity of the century will PASS. I think he needs to strike while the iron is hot. People of all stripes want CHANGE (unless they're neocons). But I wonder if he realizes how important he is to people who think like us. He KNOWS the message is important to us, but I wonder if he realizes that we feel that there's NOT anyone else right now as gifted at being the messenger. He is the one who has to do it, or we'll have to wait another 50 years.
Obama and McCain are both terrifying. I'm not sure why, but I'm sure we all feel a little hopeless and a very big feeling that we only have so long to do this humanity thing right.
I'm glad Nader is serious, because I've been given the impression that he's just a disrupter trying to get people to at least think about things, but we need so much more right now.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Not a fan. He and Matt are just anarchists who are capitalizing on their ability to monkeywrench the dems. Neither of them have any shame. Egotistical, to say the least. The fact that he wouldn't even consider a promise from BO to give him some policy position in his admin, in exchange for him dropping his candidacy says it all. He just wants to blow us up again.
If he backed down, he would be not be following through his goal to open up the two party system and allow more voices to speak up. In the past, I found myself voting for the least worst candidate instead of the best candidate because of the 2-party limitation
(And you're calling Nader egotistical? You're pretty egocentric thinking that he's not out there to give us his take on solutions, but only out there to blow you guys up again...)
I hope YouTube will follow up on it's plans and host presidential debates. A Ralph Nader - Ron Paul debate would be great. Or also a Ralph Nader - Bob Barr debate. Best would be to get Nader and Barr into debates with Obama and McCain!
Ralph is the only candidate that completely agrees with my views, and doesn't just offer some watered down version to pander to a more right-wing demographic. I can't, in good conscience vote for anyone else.
No real tv coverage- shame shame shame...You tube does not cut it but you have my vote, personally I beleave they haven't gone far enough with nuclear power, but I like your other views.:-)you would make a great pres
Dear Mr. Nader, I believe you are the most intellectual and one of the best Presidents in the history of U.S. that the U.S. may never have if they don't realize their priorities and what's good for them. Everytime I hear you speak; I learn something new that I didn't know before.
Good Luck to you and hope you win this one for all of us.
hey dragonofdiscord u fag why do u judge him just cause u dont belive in his veiws dosent mean others dont and he's just trying to do what he thinks is right and all u do is put him down. so why r u such a peice of a shit?
I like Nader. He would be a great President but sadly this is a two party country.I'd vote Nader in a heartbeat if I thought he could win.I figure the dems are the lesser of the 2 evils.Corporations have to much power for sure.
If Ron Paul doesn't pull a miracle at the Convention, or bolt and run Independent/3rd Party, I'm going to give serious consideration to voting for Ralph Nader. Though Paul and Nader disagree on economic issues, both are FANTASTIC and in TOTAL agreement on the war, foreign policy, and the ASSAULT on civil liberties. They BOTH fight for what they believe in, not just to get elected. BOTH tell people what people NEED to hear instead of just pandering to what people want to hear.
It's too bad that Ron Paul will not pull a miracle (don't believe in those myself) and he will definitely not go third party (he has already said so) or independent, so Nader's the only one left. I was for Mike Gravel and I agreed with Mike more on social issues than Ron Paul (and their economic policies were a bit similar, except for what to do about the monetary system). The Libertarians turned their backs to him (for another non-libertarian anyway). So vote Nader to vote your conscience!
Paul was offered the Libertarian Party nomination on a silver platter, he chose NOT to seek it because he wanted to stay Republican through the GOP Convention. He is no fool. The revolt the Ron Paul delegates are going to pull there, down on the floor is going to be a big spectacle on national TV and he knows it.
Remember: Most 3rd parties have it in their bylaws to reconvene after the 2 big parties' Conventions and renominate if they so choose.
Ron Paul will probably end up staying Republican (keep his seat in the GOP congress). True, there will be a spectacle, but nothing much will change with it. Perhaps more people will become aware of the bullshit (but don't count on it). The Libertarians will probably keep Barr on (too bad for them) so their message isn't in the most capable of hands (not that I believe it anyway). All we can really do is our best to educate as many as possible. I'll paraphrase Paul: "Don't say that no one cared."
Paul is a shoo in for re-election in his district even if he runs 3rd Party. He got 72% in his GOP primary with a formidable opponent and the national party stacked against him back in March. He is is even MORE popular with Dems and Indies there. I've spoken to a few people in his district and they stand by him.
The spectacle will be BIG because we ganged up at all the state caucuses and will have FAR more R.P. people on the floor than just "committed delegates".
We may end up having as much as 1/3 of the actual in the flesh delegates on the floor; and I would predict a minimum of 10%. That's HUNDREDS of delegates, although no one knows for sure just how good it will be. But it will be enough to cause a BIG stink.
It will be like Chicago in '68 with 100's of thousands of protesters outside, but the difference is that you'll have Paul's anti war activists INSIDE the hall in NUMBERS revolting openly.
This spectacle will play out on national TV to an audience who Paul has been hidden from by the mainstream media. But they won't be able to keep the lid on this. Paul will emerge from the convention a hero, and if he were to run 3rd Party (the Libertarians could renominate), he could create a groundswell out there. He would have MUCH appeal beyond just Republicans and "conservatives". All Barr could get is a few conservative points, but Paul could WIN
You all wont vote in everything. you sit up in morning I wont vote in what I do today. you peeple should jist be mature and do what you told. You no need vote you need big leader
Most Americans live in the dark ages when it comes to developing a functional social system. Corporate commercialism is based on chaos and functions by prompting citizens to be selfish and dissatisfied. Thus always needing to consume the next new thing or idea. Capitalism feeds on insatiable greed.
All you nader fans need to get the word out about him, we need 1,000,000 views now just 15,000. If you are not a rich, powerful, corporation, you might want to consider voting for Nader.
This is a sad career of man that has gone from a very respected safety advocate to a green fly that keeps buzing around one's head and will not go away. An intellectual that has gone a stray and is wondering out in the parking trying to remember where he parked his car. Him and Jimmy Carter keep trying to participate in government issues and both need a good fishing pole and folding lawn chair.
Man I'd LOVE to see a debate with Nader, Paul, Gravel, and Kucinich! That would be awesome. And probably a lot less mud-slinging and slander than the usual debates on TV.
Yes, that would be a GREAT debate, though the 4 would find themselves agreeing MOST on the MAIN issues that face us here and now like: The war, America's misguided foreign policy, and our severe EROSION of civil liberties. You are right: There would be NO mud slinging and NO petty sniping. These men are ALL patriots who LOVE their country and are running passionately for their beliefs, and NOT just to "get elected". They are ALL what I call the TRUTH TELLERS. I TRUST all of them
It would be GREAT. The ULTIMATE candidate would be a fusion of BOTH Ron Paul AND Ralph Nader. This dream candidate's beliefs on economics would blend the best of BOTH Paul AND Nader and meet the two half way between. Of course, on the MOST important issues facing us now: the ILLEGAL war on Iraq, the U.S.'s misguided, arrogant current foreign policy, and the EROSION of our civil liberties, Ron Paul and Ralph Nader are in TOTAL union as is.
They'd never agree on economics but you have to remember one important fact:
There will ALWAYS be a left and a right. That means like it or not, that there will ALWAYS have to be a COMPROMISE. NO side is ever going to get all of what they want. The problem now is that the people running things on BOTH the left AND the right are corrupt, and bought and sold by special interests and corporations.
Wouldn't you rather have the compromise worked out by 2 honest brokers like R.P and R.N.?

the television media creates the way we view these elections. they create the elections. i cannot believe the deception. imagine the america we could create if only the people were opened up to more information and candidates. this america could truly be a country of knowledge, imagination, tolerance, and peace. i say it is time the local communities got together in new yet old fashion. the local communities must take power back. the constitution was created to limit government not freedom.

Let the man debate for fuck sake
dickydoctor 3 years ago
It has nothing to do with the electoral system.
Electoral system is (kind of) a way of grouping communities against cities for fairness.
evilsinz 3 years ago
Had Gore won his home state of Tenn he would have won the election. Sad to blame the fact the Dems caved into the Republican money machine on someone who has used his entire life to better yours.
monsterfashion 3 years ago 3
Nader had absolutely nothing to do with Bush "winning" the election. Do some research and you will see how it was done. Yes, it was "stolen", but not by Nader. Similar to when JFK's Dad enlisted The Mob to get votes for JFK. Not that I didn't like JFK. Nader is an authentic American hero, who has spent his entire life helping the American public, people like yourself, and continues to do so. Check out his bio if you have ANY doubts.

Hello Youtube, Pay attention!
Youtube could have the debates by splicing the major players along with several of the other candidates together so that the not anointed ones could convey their thoughts on the same questions and in so doing level the playing field. Youtube might also consider commercial time to advertise this program during the debate.
cndysh 3 years ago 3
cndysh, brilliant idea!!! Also why don't all the other candidates create an alternative to the presidential debates. Call it "The REAL Presidential Debates" and air it on competing commercial channels - invite Obama & McCain to debate. Of course they won't but at least it will expose the current political manipulation by the Rebublican Democrats.

Now take go take some lithium.
nportillo73 3 years ago 2
nportillo73 thank you for stating that these democrats seem to forget that. they ran on that in 06 and have done nothing but suport the high gas and the war
rumpelstillskin65 3 years ago
he only has 6% of the votes. get off nader, he is not going to win.
xclarryx 3 years ago
If they would let him in the debates his numbers would go way up. The corporate-sponsored Dem/Rep run Commission on Presidential Debates won't let any third party candidate get on stage with them ("Change"?)
In 92, Perot was at 6% before the debates; he finished at 19%. In 96, the CDP-through a deal brokered between the Dems and Reps- did not allow Perot to debate.
Jess Ventura was at 10% before the televised debate, and won as a result of such.
Do you get the picture, or do you support it?
nportillo73 3 years ago 4
I voted for Gore in 2000 and worked in my area on his behalf trying to get the vote out.
I have studied and participated in politics over half my life and have now come down to the final, singular grain of political truth:
That truth is Ralph Nader.
Straight up.
nportillo73 3 years ago
Let's see, wasn't it THE DEMOCRATS in the house and senate who voted for the war...and every war appropriation put before it since???
As well as voting for Bush's energy plan (like Barack himself did?)
Let's see, the pro-military Gore's running mate was Lieberman right? The same Lieberman who might now be nominated as McCain's VP?
Tell me what the Democrats have done for you in the past 8 years.
nportillo73 3 years ago
Nader should be prosecuted as an accessory to mass murder and torture. His arrogant candidacy in 2000 produced a completely foreseeable outcome for which he is culpable: the Bush presidency and its monstrous policies: Iraq, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo. Anyone who voted for this Republican-funded jerk also has blood on their hands.
vistacruiser59 3 years ago
Could you be any more ignorant? The Florida election was fixed, regardless of Nader's presence, for which there is ample proof. 9/11 was a predetermined event sponsered by our own country's industrial/military complex, as defence reports co-authored prior by Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheyney make apparent. The contracts granted to Boeing, Halliburton, and Lockheed Martin seem justification alone.
comicvolcano 3 years ago
And was the New Hampshire election fixed, too?
There, Nader supporters, stroking themselves vigorously, cast 22,000 votes that decisively handed over 4 electoral votes to Bush and Cheney. But I see you are also a 9/11 conspiracy nut, which means basic logic escapes you. Hey, who was on those planes, dude? U.S. government agents on a suicide mission? Were they flying the planes as well? Or were they robot controlled? Please don't post any more stuff for me to read. I won't read it.
vistacruiser59 3 years ago
You shouldn't make the mistake of romanticizing Al Gore, an extension of the Clinton years. Millions of Iraqis died during the Clinton administration as a result of medieval embargos. Gore's sainthood and enviromental advocacy is a recent phenomena.
comicvolcano 3 years ago
As for funding, as revealed in the press yesterday, Obama has been the recipient of huge corporate bundling packages. His limited voting record as a Senator is hardly impressive....it's actually oppressive. There is no distinction between the Republican and Democratic parties. It's one Big Corporately Owned Fascist Party. Wake Up.
comicvolcano 3 years ago
To assert that there is no difference between the Bush administration and Democrats indicates that your powers of basic reasoning are nonexistent. You can thank yourself for Bush's policies if you voted for Nader in 2000. You might make yourself feel special saying the things you do, but in the PRACTICAL world, which you should visit some time, your positions and your actions have extremely negative and bloody results. But you're clearly in deep denial about all this.
vistacruiser59 3 years ago
Hey vistacruiser59- What happened in 2004?
Why didn't Kerry and the Dems landslide Bush like they should've?
You remember Kerry, right? The one who voted for the war, like every other Democrat (save two.)
nportillo73 3 years ago 2

Good dude.
Unlike a lot of so-called radical people these days who are just pop-culture conspiracy theorist dickheads.
CoyoteJaw9 3 years ago
Conspiracy Theory is the propagandist label given by the source who wants you to question nothing. "Whatever you do, don't think ___ or you're a nut." Most with suspicious ideas about power have a better idea about what is going on around them than those who question nothing. And, what isn't "pop" culture these days? Oswald WAS a patsy! ;)
EternalXBlight 3 years ago
I question everything.
Sometimes those in power are telling the truth.
Sometimes they are not.
The problem with Conspiracy theorists is that by default they'll always claim that the government is lying.
They think that this is the same as "questioning" things, when in fact it is the complete opposite.
And no, not everything is pop culture.
Shitty documentaries and cheap paperbacks on conspiracy theories are pop-culture.
No credible study claims 9/11 was an inside job.
CoyoteJaw9 3 years ago
Good points. Love Chomsky. The more I unintentionally learn about 9-11, the more I'm convinced there is a possibility of malevolent conspiracy. I'm not too concerned about it at this point (nor have I ever been...nihilist that I am), and wouldn't be surprised if the current administration WAS involved in an indirect planning of the specific event.
The government IS always lying (or at least meeting and acting in secret these days = conspiracy), but just not all of the government is lying.
EternalXBlight 3 years ago
And I'm always willing to question those in power.
It is documented that in the 60s the CIA considered blowing up restaraunts in Miami and blaming the Cubans, to win support for a war there.
But there is no credible evidence that suggests that 9/11 was an inside job.
Consider Noam Chomsky, he has been a vocal critic of the status-quo and is one of most radical voices in America.
But he is also educated and rational, and he has no time for pop-cultural, juvenile, X-Files conspiracy theories.

He's a TRUTH teller.
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
Ralph Nader and Ron Paul 2008.
On domestic policy they do differ, but on goreign policy they are the best candidates as they're not only against the Iraq war, they're against huge spending on the military on occupational foreign policy including in Afghanistan, and also against military aid to factions & foreign countries that always backfires on US national secuity blamed for Israle oppression of Gaza, rise of Musharff as military dictator, led to ride of Bin Laden , gave the gas to Suddan
kkvh4026 3 years ago
kkvh402
Yes I agree. They are BOTH great patriots and understand the new reality of 21st century foreign policy (UNLIKE the mainstream of the 2 big Parties). They are both in my list of TRUTH tellers.
My 4 GREAT truth tellers (my HEROES):
Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, Dennis Kucinich, & Mike Gravel.
I'm thinking about adding 1 more "conservative", Chuck Baldwin, to my list so we can balance things out between the left and the right here. Yes, agree him or not, Chuck Baldwin is a truth teller too
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
continued..
This election needs to be a turning point on foreign policy.
kkvh4026 3 years ago
kkvh4026
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
I completly agree with you. All these independent candidates are paving the way for a third party at least a de facto third party, where they are in complete agreement in a non military & non nuclear interventionist foreign policy which endangers lives & leads to debt on military spending. Eventually they'll balance themselves out on approach to domestic policy by compromising, but not surrendering to the special intersts. The most exciting part of this election for me is seeing this foundation.
kkvh4026 3 years ago
kkvh4026:
What I wonder is: Would all of us in the anti war, anti mainstream factions on both the left and the right be able to put our differences on domestic economic issues, and abortion, etc. aside and UNITE under ONE common umbrella in a mutual mission to SMASH the Republican/Democrat mainstream's hegemony of power so as to bring a new 3rd Party to the Presidency?
I pray that Ron Paul will get back into the race, run 3rd party, and pick someone like Dennis Kucinich to be his running mate.
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
I don't think they will become an actual 3rd party, but essentially they are a de facto 3rd party in their beliefs on foreign policy. Just looking at the comments on this page you can see supporters of independents on both sides have respect for the others.
kkvh4026 3 years ago 2
Yes, you're right.
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
Well he's holding a convention on the same day as the Republican Convention so anything is possible in this election. Momentum is still with him.
kkvh4026 3 years ago 2
Yes, and he's booked an 11,000 seat basketball arena just across town from the GOP Convention and invited all of us, his supporters, to attend as "delegates".
God I want to be there!!!!!
If he picks the right running mate, I still think he could WIN, or at the very least REALLY shake things up BIG TIME.
You've got to LOVE it. Ron Paul is sly as a fox, and is a friggin' genius.
But "yes" or "no": Do you think he's really going to do it?
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
I'm not sure. I think he's keeping his options open. I know how his supporters feel, but it rests on whether he wants to coninue campaigning or whether he wants to continue the message without campaigning. Either way he's still a factor in the election and the future direction of policy. Many politicians lose an election and are forgotten, but those that stand on a real platform have a long lasting impact through their supporters on a continued cause.
kkvh4026 3 years ago
kkvh:
If he doesn't run THIS year the GREAT opportunity of the century will PASS. I think he needs to strike while the iron is hot. People of all stripes want CHANGE (unless they're neocons). He KNOWS the message is important to us, but I wonder if he realizes that we feel that there's NOT anyone else right now as gifted at being the messenger. He is the one who has to do it, or we'll have to wait another 50 years.

Nader speaks truth to power. He would be a sane president.
Vote for him!
nowellian 3 years ago
I like Nader. He would be a great President but sadly this is a two party country.I'd vote Nader in a heartbeat if I thought he could win.I figure the dems are the lesser of the 2 evils.Corporations have to much power for sure.

I'm gathering signatures for this man on the ballot here in Cali,
I've made a small donation to this man's campaign,
I will try to get as many people at my school to consider voting for Nader.
What ARE YOU dOING FOR him?

Lamentablemente para EEUU y el mundo, Nader ni nadie como él será presidente de ese país.

RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago 2
It's too bad that Ron Paul will not pull a miracle (don't believe in those myself) and he will definitely not go third party (he has already said so) or independent, so Nader's the only one left. I was for Mike Gravel and I agreed with Mike more on social issues than Ron Paul (and their economic policies were a bit similar, except for what to do about the monetary system). The Libertarians turned their backs to him (for another non-libertarian anyway). So vote Nader to vote your conscience!

midtraveler2350:
Paul was offered the Libertarian Party nomination on a silver platter, he chose NOT to seek it because he wanted to stay Republican through the GOP Convention. He is no fool. The revolt the Ron Paul delegates are going to pull there, down on the floor is going to be a big spectacle on national TV and he knows it.
Remember: Most 3rd parties have it in their bylaws to reconvene after the 2 big parties' Conventions and renominate if they so choose.
But yes, I LOVE Nader too.
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
Ron Paul will probably end up staying Republican (keep his seat in the GOP congress). True, there will be a spectacle, but nothing much will change with it. Perhaps more people will become aware of the bullshit (but don't count on it). The Libertarians will probably keep Barr on (too bad for them) so their message isn't in the most capable of hands (not that I believe it anyway). All we can really do is our best to educate as many as possible. I'll paraphrase Paul: "Don't say that no one cared."

mindtraveler Part1
Paul is a shoo in for re-election in his district even if he runs 3rd Party. He got 72% in his GOP primary with a formidable opponent and the national party stacked against him back in March. He is is even MORE popular with Dems and Indies there. I've spoken to a few people in his district and they stand by him.
The spectacle will be BIG because we ganged up at all the state caucuses and will have FAR more R.P. people on the floor than just "committed delegates".
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
mindtraveler PartII (read Pt.1 FIRST)
We may end up having as much as 1/3 of the actual in the flesh delegates on the floor; and I would predict a minimum of 10%.
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
mindtraveler Part III (Read Pt. 1&2 FIRST)
This spectacle will play out on national TV to an audience who Paul has been hidden from by the mainstream media.

Ralph Nader is the best candidate running at this time!
Nader is not a joke!
The elections are a joke! Nothing will change, it will just keep getting worse with either democrats or republicans running things.
Washington is corporate occupied territory!
Vote Nader/Gonzalez for real change!

I do agree
muerausa 3 years ago 2
Ralph Nader is about 200 years ahead of his time!
Most Americans live in the dark ages when it comes to developing a functional social system. Corporate commercialism is based on chaos and functions by prompting citizens to be selfish and dissatisfied. Thus always needing to consume the next new thing or idea. Capitalism feeds on insatiable greed.
I don't look for enlightenment anytime soon.
Peace, and Vote Nader!

All you nader fans need to get the word out about him, we need 1,000,000 views now just 15,000. If you are not a rich, powerful, corporation, you might want to consider voting for Nader.

Nader DID NOT make George W. Bush the President.
The IDIOTS that voted FOR Bush were the ones that made him the President. Blame them.

=)
stealthswimmer 3 years ago 6
stealthswimmer:
Yes, that would be a GREAT debate, though the 4 would find themselves agreeing MOST on the MAIN issues that face us here and now like: The war, America's misguided foreign policy, and our severe EROSION of civil liberties. You are right: There would be NO mud slinging and NO petty sniping. These men are ALL patriots who LOVE their country and are running passionately for their beliefs, and NOT just to "get elected". They are ALL what I call the TRUTH TELLERS. I TRUST all of them

I want to see Paul vs Nader on economics.
i love them both but they have opposite views on that. how good would it be!?
Champ1on 3 years ago
Champion:
It would be GREAT. The ULTIMATE candidate would be a fusion of BOTH Ron Paul AND Ralph Nader. This dream candidate's beliefs on economics would blend the best of BOTH Paul AND Nader and meet the two half way between. Of course, on the MOST important issues facing us now: the ILLEGAL war on Iraq, the U.S.'s misguided, arrogant current foreign policy, and the EROSION of our civil liberties, Ron Paul and Ralph Nader are in TOTAL union as is.
The ULTIMATE ticket would be Paul/Nader '08!
RonPaulRevolution4u 3 years ago
RonPaulRevolution4u:
Nader and Paul agree on foreign policy, civil liberties and iraq.
But, THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE is:
Economics: The abolition of the federal reserve system, and restoration of a currency backed by commodities.
Without this, America will be bankrupted, and the whole society will collapse, probably into fully fledged authoritarianism.
Nader is a socialist; Paul is a free market libertarian, and they will never be able to reconcile these views and unite.
ozzie454 3 years ago
ozzie454:
They'd never agree on economics but you have to remember one important fact:
There will ALWAYS be a left and a right. That means like it or not, that there will ALWAYS have to be a COMPROMISE. NO side is ever going to get all of what they want. The problem now is that the people running things on BOTH the left AND the right are corrupt, and bought and sold by special interests and corporations.
Wouldn't you rather have the compromise worked out by 2 honest brokers like R.P and R.N.?
