This is a real vehicle. They use high-speed turbines to push a lot of air through the center of the craft to make it "hover." The problem is they have a limited altitude (under 100 feet) because the air beneath it can only give it so much lift. Also, they cannot move very fast horizontally.
If they added a computerized stablizer to make it easier to control and manuever, as they do in the unstable B2 "wing" design, i think the concept will take off.. literally hehehe. They also would have to do something about the loudness of having that many motors running. It probably sounds like everyone on your block mowing their grass all at the same time lol. But Nice =]
This was on a website from a company advertising their inventions. There is also a flying car there, but the authorities won't allow them to fly it. It's a plane shape car that unfolds it's wings and engines in order to take off. I wish I knew the company's name!
