@kalgakas errr..the human models were updated, it's obvious in this video they are not the same as the current ones. In fact I seem to remember these models were scrapped because they were too HIGH poly, and they replaced them with the current lower poly models to lower system requirements. im not sure if that's true though, but they were definitely not the same. the change came in 2002 iirc.

dont take my opinion personally though, but i can see why so many people left. blizzard is good in marketing, and was formerly one of the best developers arround. now they are nothing but a shadow of its old self... thats my opinion, dont take it personally, i've got no ill with anybody who plays it, on the contrary, i know and like many people who played/play it.

thats why i stopped playing. look at this video... now look at wow today... that video is over 10 yrs old yet it looks (and plays) nearly the same way wow does now. blizzard is a rip off... its isnt worth 30 bucks,let alone the price of all xpacks and monthly fees.wow was great for 2001-2004 standards, but today its just disappointing. and expensive. wow needs a great overhaul in order to keep in the track with competition, both graphically and in gameplay. blizzard cant balance it the way it is

@DragonDude180 You're right on the second one, with each expansion not only comes more content, but usually graphical improvements are made as well. Whether it be fixed/improved textures or better models. They usually come along every expansion. Not to say that they don't improve the game with updates as well.

TBH I think that UI was more cool than the one we ended up with. Plus towns seemed cooler with more buildings and stuff, Goldshire is supposed to be a middle size town and in retail it only has 3 buildings!

The graphics of wow haven't changed that much in the past 10 years, characters still look the same so does some landscapes like the ones in westfall seen in the video. I must agree tho that the buildings look a lot better in this 2001 trailer then in the actual game. The buildings are boring and almost all of them are the same

@Forgottenshadowdream true...today horde v aly doesnt matter anymore...there is no more outdoor pvp...arenas are vs same faction as well...so are rated bgs....and normal bgs are just a farm fest for honor...not really about the feeling of figthing the oposing faction...the magic of wow is kinda dead

Maybe if we're real lucky, one day Blizzard will get rid of this ancient decade old gfx engine and use something more up to date that actually runs efficiently with better gfx and realism.

What's funny is that they had reflective, flowing tide water and HDR/Bloom in 2001, yet removed those things to add them to later expansions. Yet at BlizzCon '09 everybody stares in awe as if Blizzard reinvented the wheel when they show off the aforementioned features that were in the original alpha versions of the game 9 years earlier. I don't get it anymore.
