The ball went 10 yards, and no it doesn't have to be kicked 10 yards, the ball is allowed to bounce. the ball just can't be touched by the kicking team before 10 yards UNLESS the opposing team touches it first. I like the 2nd video better, it works for me.

u get a penalty for that in a real game since the recieving team didn't touch the ball first. unless of course u changed the rules which would make u a cheater.

actually in a real game u would have to have the recieving team touch the ball and the kick team recover otherwise it's just a penalty and the receiving gets the ball where the kicking team recovers. but it doesn't happen in the ps2 version so for you it woiuldn't matter.

Madden is becoming increasingly realistic. For instance, most of the time, an onside kick should end up failing, as it does in Madden.

However, a lot of the fun in Madden, at least to me, is being to reel in yards and yards of offense, and hold the computer to little or no points. Realistic football can be fun to watch, but not to play, all the time.

I honestly agree, (assuming that you play online too) I hate when people go for it on fourth down with 2 minutes left in the first quarter. I love playing really realistic, but in this case, onside kicks are just my desperate move for the ball back :).

If you have a good onside kick that works more than 75% then I would definetly do it. But if you trust in your defense and you know you can stop them if they get the ball, then its no problem at all. Its like having 4 balls in a bag, 3 green and 1 red, and you pull one out. I usually kick it far, but, only in certain situations, I would onside kick it.
