  • FIIIIIIIIRRREEEEEEE!

  • hey whats your thoughts on this machine over the maschine i have a maschine mikro and was thinking of getting on of these.

  • @FreestyleLilWayne I LOVED my MV (dont have it anymore) ...but Maschine is the future. Just my opinion...but you dont need the MV if you got the Mikro. BUT....lol... if you get the MV (for a good price) you will have fun indeed and wont need to be attached to the computer.

  • i like this my man i like how u chopped jigga up to go with your beat. check out me working on my mv-8000.good work again.

  • Thanks for the vid, I've been sleeping on my mv (using the mpc instead) but you inspired me to really give it a real shot again. Dope beat

  • This would make a great intro for a Jay-z album or mixtape. Btw can't wait to get my hands on one of these MV-8000's, that would bring my production studio to full circle.

  • 4 PEOPLE WOULD RATHER HEAR "LOLLIPOP"

  • Damn...I love that

  • I would love to play some electric with this cat! He is sick!

  • Sick video man. I've been checking out all your Maschine vids and somehow ended up on this guy. Still use the 8000 anymore or has Maschine completely replaced it? I'm new to all this so I was wondering for the vocal tracks - do you need to use acapella tracks or do you just sample straight from the song? One week till I get my Maschine!

  • Its a Blood, Sweat and Tears song. If your a novice, there are plenty of vids and the MV Nation to bring you up to speed rather quickly.

  • Shits hot bra

  • Whats the name of the original sample? you reckon it would something you could buy as some only fairly novice and learn to mix/cut up/remix and or produce on?

  • Damn brah, you might wanna go head and slide J that one. Shitts bangin!!! Make'em pay what he weigh though.

  • Nice presentation man. I got some mv beats on my channel if you want to check. No videos I'm afraid:P But I am still looking for dope MC's. Is it forbidden to direct to my channel? I dunno...delete the message if it frustrates you haha....nice video!:D propz

  • Well done!

  • How Much Does It Cost? & Where Can I Buy It??

  • nice!!!

  • tis sounds like a just blaze joint....i like that

  • I sold my MV-8800 for Maschine, Haven't Looked back yet

  • @keesimo is it hard to use??

  • @PLURKID25 You better say it is...lol....Still needs a few more features but they are in development now but as far as work flow none of my ideas are forgotten due to load times and sample layouts from chopping and so on.

  • @keesimo ohh lol well yea i really want to buy one but im worried about the setup lol my house isnt so big and where there is space it either has some turntables or a mixer on it lol..so i dont know if it has a crap load of connections haha

  • @PLURKID25 well you have 2 options just usb or usb and midi in and out. But I just use usb and sample from the ins of the Project Mix I/O.so the wires are not an issue.

  • @keesimo to record??

  • Nice work son!!!

  • Badass.. I have an old ass dr-770, but it won't be long before I get the mv8000.

  • Nice work man, makes me wanna get back on my mv and start learning again lol

  • i think jay-z would but this beat ....nice work....it sounds like just blaze

  • dude. beat is hard

  • nice, pretty bad ass. i saw this from your craigslist ad.

sample is blood sweat and tears

  • very nice!

  • how did you get the sample onto the mv8000

  • how do u get the sample on there??

  • It didn't quite occur to me that BS&T was throwing out the horns back then because I thought Chase, Maynard Ferguson, and the Ides were the horn rock legends.

As you can tell, I'm a music history geek.

  • @Rayfstralia LOL..yeah bro..you are deep !!! BS&T is the shizznit !!

  • @Rayfstralia Holy shyt dude! I'd love to pick your brain for 20 min and I bet I'd learn more than talking to some of the fakers in my area. Good on ya for bein strong with your music knowledge!!!

  • I was so WRONG, Knock! It was actually Blood Sweat & Tears! "Smiling Phases", is the song from their second album, "Blood Sweat & Tears". Recorded October 15, 1968, one month and five days before I was born. The great Steve Winwood had a hand in writing the song. That album also featured another sample you used to do the Biggie remix, "And When I Die". So you got a BS&T joint in your crate that aint got no label! I admit I need to check the whole thing out, because "Spinning Wheel" is a fave.

  • I have been doing a search for the sample. It's gotta be Bill Chase. I recognize the horns. The problem is that the singer you have on your sample sounds like Jim Peterik from The Ides of March, so it may well be one of theirs. The REAL problem is that Jim sang on a couple of Chase's songs, most notably, "Run Back to Mama"! Your sample song is very RARE, bruh! The evidence of that is in the fact that even YOU couldn't identify it! If I find the sample, I'll let you know from where it came.

  • @Rayfstralia LOL True Indeed !!

  • After seeing your video I freeked out and had to go on ebay and buy one! I got mine for $650 and I can't wait!!! Thanks

  • @horsegirlgc How are you enjoying the MV BRo?

  • @KnockSquared loving mine!!!!

  • AC-ok

  • MV-8000 with VGA and DVD Tutorial for sale on ebay! #170458511923 Mint condition, will ship worldwide!

  • dope!

  • nice beat man, keep it going

  • Comment removed

  • MV iz the funkin shiznel

  • do you like the Roland MV 8000/8800 or the MAshine better when it comes to faster work flow?

  • sorry for the long delay in answering... I prefer Maschine as far as chopping samples...but the MV is just as fast actually... well maybe a little slower...but i LOVE both Maschine and the MV forever !

  • Nice creative way of chopping up and make a brand new beat! You inspire me to get the SP-555.. (only one I can afford at the moment!) I'm subscribing.

  • its so funny to see all mv8ooo viedeos.

nobody here really knows how the mv really works! NOBODY!!! HAHAHA NOOBS!

and all the comments... everybody thinks that you doing cool things but you dont! all this sampling shit... you have to find out yourself im not going to tell you..sorry.

and sorry for my crapy english :) but i had to say this.

  • pecmasterflash....what is that for kinda dumb comment of yours!!! What the hell are you talking about man........you probably laughing because he didn't use autochop!!! if you KNOW HipHop producers(even SkiBeatz,Rza you name em) they all never use autochop,...WHAT CAN YOU DO PUNK??!!

  • LOL... Black..I actually had replied to him on here also but deleted my reply it because I knew he was just trying to start some stupid sh*t. One thing that let me know he is ignorant is the fact that he is basing what I do in this video as ALL I KNOW about the MV,,,LOL. Only fools do that...and trust me I know quite a bit more about the MV then what i show on here.

  • Yo kid that piece was off the rack son. I was thinking about parting with my MV-8000 because I hardly use it but after seeing that joint HELL NO. I never seen the Ski Beatz joint but you got me wanting to keep my shit even if I just use it for remixes purposes. Big ups my man 40 grand keep the hustle going. Make another joint im there kid..

  • Thanks Chill

  • Cool man. I chop similarly and I got it from the same ski-beats video you mention. Good work!

  • i find its the best way to chop.... seems like more control

  • i noticed on a lot of videos when people trigger samples, they have to hold the pad down for as long as they want the sample to play. is there a way to edit the release to wear you can just hit the pad and itll play the whole chop?

  • Yung... yep... you can adjust it so it plays all the way through.

  • Dope!!

  • See this is why I like Roland products, you go straight to work.

  • what kind of mixer do u use

  • Montana..what up. I got the M-Audio NRV10 firewire mixer

  • That is straight dope. Makes me want to download some accapellas and see what I can do with em.

  • how do I midi my keyboard to my mv so I can record what I'm playing on the keyboard directly into the mv

  • Theres midi slots on the back of the machine and you use the usb slot also

  • Damn son! That beat is ill!!!!!!!

    MV drums always sound fat!

Savin hard for the 8800. Hardware forever baby. Cant trust no wack laptop to get sounds and reliabilty like this.

Keep up the good work. Niceeeeee.

  • damn shit was good

  • man i need to get as nasty as u real talk, feelin ya style i gotta question i just coped the mv8000 im lovin it but there sumthing i can figure out i been readin the books n shit even watched that wack ass dvd, i wanna kno how can i make my pads as one shot for example if i press pad 1 my sample will play how can i make it when i hit pad 2 the sample that i played on pad 1 will stop...? hope u can help i been crackin my head open tryna figure this out n i guess its time to ask a pro..

  • Press shift and stop at the same time. This will stop any sample from sounding.

  • i got you,,,press audio phrases,,,and on the screen which shows the pads each square has "off" on the right corner,,,,assign that to "1" on each sample the like magic there you go. let me know how it goes,,,mpc users just do'nt know how better the mv is!!!

  • change the "of"f to "1" on each sample then you got it.

  • What drums did you use for this? I have the MV-8800.

  • Tight vid man!!! yo ugot skillz dude! for real

anyway got a dillema lol can't figure out WHAT i should buy. mv 8000 (650,-) or mv 8800(1100,-)

mostly i make my music on reason/flstudio/ recently pro tools but just wanna performe live on stage by using the mv you know i'm sayin??

Stuff that you did on this vid (tight dawg!)

So - its also a money thang you know.......you think i should buy the mv 8000? or wait (with the change that somebody else will buy it) and buy the mv 8800??? HELP ME

  • Black . Get the 8800. Its faster operation that the 8000 (in my opinion) load times are quicker which you may need on stage. Thanks for checkin my the vids bro.

  • I got some shit 4 u

    Holla back old man!

  • LOL>... what you got "SON"?? (Grown folks talking)

  • Show him knock that U can not get at " GROWN FOLK LIKE THAT " LOL LOL... I look at his page he NICE!! but he can not get with ya!! LOL...

  • that shit is dope im about to cop one tomorrow as I have given up on the mpc akai sucks and I have been an akai use for 11 years...

  • yo da shit hot hova shulda put dat on the blueprint 3 lolz

  • So which one is better the 8000 or the 8800. and the sound quality is good.

  • im just guessing the 8800 since its the newer one? but the 8000 has both cd and floppy disc and the 8800 only has the cd i think and the 8800 has a color screen but i think errthang else pretty much the same probably just better sequencing?

  • Yo knock, you got great quality on ya audio for your youtube vids as well man. Got that MV soundin' tight dawg.

  • Verry Nice!!!

  • two questions...

    1. how did you sync the tempos of both your sample and the acapella?

    2. Can this all be done on Maschine?

    Great stuff by the way!

  • it isnt a Maschine right?

you have to look at 2 minutes..

he tells about the vocal sample..

  • 1. in the MV you can BPM sync audio phrases so the both samples are synced to the BPM and time stretched appropriately

    2. it better be!

  • Bought the 8000

Can the vga output project onto a widescreen (stretched)?

  • yes you got to do that with the monitor settings

  • This is one of my favorite beatmaking videos! When I first saw it I had just bought the NI Maschine. This inspired me to get an MV-8800 (got a B-stock with the expansion for $1200) and I sold the Maschine. Now the video you did using Maschine makes me sort of miss it! I had fun taking the Maschine on vacation and using it with my Macbook in the hotel room. Do you still use both?

  • this beat would be one of hovas best intros good work

  • yO THAT SAMPLE IS SICK DOG

  • Fiya

  • Dude

    that was pretty dope

I'm going to be buying a drum machine very soon

I was wondering if I should save for the 8800 or settle with the 8000

The 8000 looks like it will suit my needs

    What do you think?

  • i got the 8000 because it has floppy disk and cd,,you can upload some good old school sounds,,he said he got a deal but the 8000 with 3.5 os and vga upgrade is tight!!!its color on the vga and big!!! i cant believe people still sweating the mpc.

  • I know right, I got mines with everything you just said too, lol.

  • Please send it to me. :D

  • It even sounds like a Jay-Z beat. Nice Man.

  • excellent!

  • Nice!

  • nice deal on the mv man ,,, i gotta 2000xl and a 2500 and believe it or not i payed more for my 2000xl than my 2500 ,,

  • Nice beat

  • I know I commented before, but this vid is inspiring. I chop manually most times too, and you make the benefits of that method VERY clear. This is what the machine was made for. Good shit

  • yo knocksquared ur a gear junkie lol im like that 2

  • nice beat!

  • dope sampling, you work it well. Keep it up

  • yo just dropping by to say keep it up,

im new into the whole sampling game but after seeing ur videos a picked up the 808. that beats sick

  • what up Grill....thanks for the comment and I got mine for under 600

  • thats sick, yeah im thinking about selling mine for a new peice. torn between the sp-808 or a 2000xl. wat r ur thoughts

  • mpc has an actual sequencer the sp-808 isn't really designed to be a center piece the same way the 2kxl is. go with an mpc 2000xl or 1000 you will be happier in the long run. the sp-808 has better effects but realy that only goes so far.

  • eh thanks alot man

  • ummm.... my advice is to check out Maschine.... believe me...lol

  • what would u perfer, the mc-8000 or maschine...

Also, I heard that maschine cant sequence vst's or external modules...whats your take on that

    thx

  • damn under 600 who the fuck you know

  • D... i got it at Guitar center... it was a matter of finding it..right place right time... I guarantee you can find one for under 700. Just got to searh hard.

  • I've looked into it and it seems pretty awsome, im just not into the huge computer music thing. I might pick it up when it goes down in price tho

  • yo i had the mv for a little while but after watching a few videos i found out there is so much more to this beast then what i was using for good beat man i dont care for the jay z part but the rest is crazy check out my video of me samplimng on the mv

  • Great to see that the hip hop guys suffer from the same gear addiction like the techno guys do ;) And im also impressed with your skillz my friend.

Cheers from the Maschine Forum :)

  • whats up man.... I checked out your videos alot before I bought Maschine.. thank you !! I got MC-808 vids too...lol. Will have one up of Maschine sometime soon after I learn it better

  • Hey great, im really lookin forward to your Maschine Videos. Dont tell anyone but i have a new project with 2 MCs and its all about Hip Hop with some Electro twist :)

    Cheers

  • I am in my audio phrase edit mode and I turn my BPM sync on. I change the course tune to make the pitch higher. But then when I press the chop function it doesn't acknowledge the fact that I changed the pitch. The sample is loaded in the original pitch. What am I doing wrong?

  • homie thats hot man you should make a tut dvd

  • dude, was sold on an mpc but after seeing your beat i am seriously thinking again, grrr whats a guy to do???

  • LOL... I feel you Mojo... I would say if you are heavy in sampling then definitely go the MV route. Both have their good bad points... but i can def tell you that as far as sample manipultion and handling the MV takes that category.

  • would u say a mv is better than an mpc?

  • Jay... I would say the MV. But I in no way am downing the MPC. I have owned the Mpc60 , Mpc 3000 (in my opinion the best Mpc) and the Mpc 500. And I like the MV best. AGAIN this is just MY opinion though.

  • Def 1 of da best MV beats on u-tube! I shouldn't have sold mines :-( but ill b gettin anotha 1 soon baby....Can't fuckin wait!!!

  • LOL... yeah man.... GET IT BACK !!! You did the same thing I did..lol. I sold mine a few years ago and was kicking myself in the ass. But I got it back :)

  • I wiil but i cant find any wid a good price tho :-(

  • awesome and welcome to the MV-Planet ....great track, 5 *!!

    Vivi.

  • Yeah Mv is the best got the 8800 check out my beats man im in the start but it works i think...

    Nice beat man 5points GREETZ

  • yo k that joint is fire thats what im talkin bout fam. keep the MV Nation movin.

    peace

  • Ok, does it work with apple laptops?

  • It works wid any fuckin thin!!! i got a mac pro g5 and it worked fine.

  • yo,whatup man...yo im new 2 tha mv-8000 just got thiz yesterday 3-9-09...Dude..thankz 4 that trick that u showed.i pretty much got thiz thig figured..i digg ya work ..please post more short cuts and tricks..peace bro..good muzik in here..901Bang

  • Thanks Man..... MV is a beast

  • How much are they?

  • got mine for 600 (used)

  • Oho! Found the sample! Love it when I do that

  • No shit?? You Found It?

  • That machine is a thing of beauty. Very nice beat too.. (now I'm just gonna be sitting here scratching my head for the rest of the night trying to remember who that sample's from)

  • fire

  • Whats the sample rate from a cd on the MV-8000 is it the same as the MPC when sampling from vinyl (12 bit) ? thanks in advance!

  • There's a much faster way my friend and more slicker.

But That's nice work Keep It Coming

  • Hands KnockSquared Phd in MV8000 alchemy!!!

    *cheeses for photo

  • Haaaa..thats Dope..LOL Thanks (Bows to the crowd of 12)

  • Great production and very musical....keep it up! i just bought an MV and you were mentioned on the MV Nation list as an inspiration/good example to new users. Thanks' for the video!

  • Tao... thanks !! I am glad that you dig the video... the MV is a Beast (as i always say). Congrats on the new MV....You are about to go into a big creative zone..

  • 1st & for most i loved your video that track is crack. i have 1 quest , i just copt the mv 8000 myself. iam having problems recording my samples into my track. when you import your sample what do you use chop, asgn to phrs or asgn to patch. every time i try to do asgn to phrs, then i slice it up like you did with the clip board feature when i go to record the sample in to my track it doesn't record. please can any body help me with this one thanks & peace & love to all my producers

  • Asia... I use Assign to Patch. When you use assign to Phrase then you have to record to an audio track ... Sample something... then assign to patch...THEN use the clipboard (if you are doing it like I did) then when you sequence ..use a midi track (of course with the patch you just created assigned to it) I don tknow if you have joined MV nation... but if youhave ANY questions ...thats the place to be....lol ask a question there and you will get a FLOOD of answers. Anymore help..just hit me here

  • Nice homie! Keep 'em bangin'!

  • damn man that shit that heat!!! very nice..

  • That is mind boggleling!!!!

  • impressive !!!

  • btw show this to jay z,and you got a buyer haha, really crispy

  • im so glad i sold my mv and cept my mpc,mpc has way better feeling, but still you freaked it good, good work, peaceee, ohyea majjor labels aint wanne fuck with samples anymore,so most people do autochop and make own sounds, way better:Dgood luck with your music man, peacee

  • Yeah man...sooo true. Getting placements with samples can be a huge hassle. 80 percent of the stuff I send out for artist to hear has no samples. When I sample ..mostly its for the love.. and yo...thanks for the comment man...I appreciate that.

  • Ill track homie!! Keep it up, ill be checking back soon!

  • Thanks Homie !! Appreciated !

  • Dam! thats the shizzoe!!

  • that track is off the block Cuz. J sould buy this from you Cuz.

  • Hey Knock impressive work on the MV. I got the 8800, i gotta question for ya... after you use the clipboard to spread the sample on the pads do you go into quick edit to que it to where you want it? I ask because i always used auto but i like your method alot better! thanks bro keep banging!

  • What Up Low.... Yeah after copying on multiple pads I indeed go to quick edit and adjust the start points to when i want for each pad. The beauty of the MV is when you press a pad...thats the one that comes up in the edit screen.. so its very quick.

  • Yea i see the red light on the quick edit now... didnt notice it before on your vid... Thanks alot Knock! Keep BANGING!!

  • great video...very nice work flow...the mv really is that easy!

  • Taking the full velocity off when you do your drums, especially the hi-hats, will give them a more life-like feel

  • No Doubt...lol aint a bit of velocity happening... I need that. Thanks for the Feed MV

  • Nice props to ya bruh! And the legend, Skibeatz said for you to hit him up! That's an honor for you I'm sure! Keep it up bruh!

  • No Doubt man... you are right. Thanks Sin.. I appreciate the love indeed !!!

  • yo that was to portlandpo below on his comment...but for the beat...shit is insane! keep it up!

  • Amazing sample choice. PERFECT rhythm. Your kick and snare are hard! SMT, maybe? or just great samples. I give you a 12 out of 10. Forget 8800, you got what you need. Keep on.

  • Mesa.. thanks for the love man. Just wanted you to know I INDEED got VERY GOOD tips from your videos...thank you for that.

  • Hey man way to make a nice banger with my boy HOVA's samples and that heavy drums and throw a little freestyle improvisation in there. I've thought about getting an 8800 so I'll have a full hardware workstation. Can't go wrong right?

  • Well...for ME personally... the 8000/8800 are the shit (no diss to anything other people use) so No... you can't go wrong..lol. Especially if you gonna be choppin samples.
