  • Thank you for your positive attitude Lawrence O'Donnell! This is an excellent - positive interview and well done to MSNBC for the broadcast! Joel and JD may you be blessed with love and happiness in abundance! God Bless! Christopher

  • Okay, they are just darling together. That wonderful smile on J.D.'s face, totally supporting Joel -- just fabulous. They seem happier than a lot of straight married couples I know.

  • "...I would take that 13 yr old me to the first day of spring in 1999. On a west TX ranch hilltop, surrounded by a dozen head of black Angus cattle who though we were there to feed, and as the sun set turning the sky pink, and purple, and orange, in a way that only a west TX sunset can. I jab my hands into my jeans' pocket, and pulled out two rings, that I literally spent my last dollar on, and slipped on one into JD's hand, and asked him to spend the rest of his life with me..."

  • I am so proud to be a Fort Worth Resident. Thank you so very much for your words. I do hope that everyone sees this video. You are very inspirational. Everyone needs to remember that God does not make mistakes and that none of us have been given the right to judge others. I am very proud to have you as one of our councilman.

  • Such an amazing couple! My husband and I have been together for almost 23 years and I think we have a very similar relationship to Joel and JD. It's easy to see the love and admiration in their eyes. I too thought of suicide when I was a kid, and also as an adult. The hope of finding the love of my life kept me from doing it initially, and having him in my life and focusing on the love that we have for one another saved me the second. I am happy to report that those thoughts are gone forev

  • I know the feeling. While I've never been beat up, I have been teased and called nearly every name in the book, not just by classmates, but by members of my own family. I literally cried when I saw Joel Burns' video speech.

  • the real uplifting thing is that more and more people are getting aware of such issues, and the older closed minded fucks are dying out...thank god!

  • what a loving couple

  • So wonderful. If only Harvey Milk were alive to see this. I'd like to think he does see it.

  • By the look of Joel Burns & his husband eyes and grinding, I can tell there deeply in love each other. ........awww how sweet...

  • @MoneyIsSilver

Either you are / were a bully or the your bullies achieved their goal of permanently damaging you.

  • Joel Burns and JD Angle are both heroes!

  • He was trying not to smile.

  • WOW! 17 years of togetherness!!! That is remarkable, knowing that some of my straight peers FAILED to stay in a committed union even for a one year! Who God puts together let NO MAN put asunder! These two men look great together, and too young to have gone 17 years, simply amazing. God's continued blessings to you both.

  • @Kumtekmeon I wish them the best, but they aren't quite setting a record. It's 35 years together for us, 35 years of two men enjoying life, wonderfully in love. But the bill must be paid. He is 77, 25 years older than me. He is disabled from a stroke, can barely walk, and I love him still. LET NO MAN PUT ASUNDER!! Just so. I always knew this would come.. But he's getting better, and I help him. Sometimes it's hard, but I've been preparing for 30 years.

  • @gumbopie I am DEEPLY moved by your comment. I know of a woman who left her husband for a younger man, because he had a stroke and was no longer able to sexually satisfy her, and yet you are telling me that, out of love and devotion, you have chosen to continue with your man. It hurts to know that some refuse to acknowledge the FACT that true-love exists within gay relationships. You are doing the honorable thing STANDING by your man, you shall be rewarded in the end.

  • It was great - but, I wished that the husbands could be in the same room and held hands. This exposure is hard to handle alone.

I will never forget Joel Burns for his courage and his love for life - the way it is - not the way his parents, or his society wanted it. What a man!

  • And still the "Christians" won't hear.

  • @nicksum29 I think you mean 'So-Called Christians'. True believers of Christ DON'T go about discriminating against gays because Jesus at no time encouraged His believers to abuse gays. Those so-called Christians are agents of Satan, because the pain and suffering gays go through, as a result of these so-called Christians, ONLY benefit the devil! Jesus is love and understanding, not pain and misery. Remember there are gay Christians too.

  • "Thank you very much for joining us tonight as a couple"

America is changing! Well done Joel. Your words will have helped many...

    Onwards and upwards.

  • That was awesome. They make a very cute couple.
