Canada is not totally independant. This is not a republic, but a constititional monarchy of Great Britain.

Elisabeth II can't come and make laws, but Canada have a governor who's can not accept laws voted by government and a part of taxes goes to Elisabeth II and Canada pays all travels to the royal family.

The province of Quebec is totally opposed of this, but the rest of Canada accept it.

That's the reasons because in Canada, we have British Guards.
