After reading my orginal post, my words do sound somewhat disrespectful, but I asure you that is not the case. I know first hand the amount of work involved. Not to mention the skill, knowledge, and endurance.
I wanted to get down to visit you guys, but wasn,t in the cards this year. Hope you and your forging partner are doing well. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
It is a NC tool farriers anvil, my sister was a farrier, so since she no longer does it, she gave it to me. it is a coal forge, and PANT are for wimps
yea, first time i hammer on the anvil with a BIG hammer ( over 3 pounds) and it jumped off the pegs holding it, pulled one right out of the stump, so it is all better now.
@abclandscapingfx Some of us like to forge steel as "traditionaly" as possible. ive made damascus before and i dont mind hammering it out by hand. each time i fire up the forge, i do a little work on it while the fire is at its freshest. Then i make what i intended, to make. after a few weeks or months, ile have it finished. i dont see the point in rushing in and finishing damascus all in 1 day.
How did you hold it together the first time you heater it?

@05you2 it was tack welded on the ends, you can also wire wrap it to hold it till the weld takes.

Wimps have had a spark go into their tennis shoes, therefore they now wear pants and leathers... Just saying.
