@maboroshi9790 I believe it's replacing the acid. Birds do something similar called anting. They rub ants into their feathers or in captivity things like vinegar or alcoholic drinks(if you let them).
How old is Pua? Has she had babies, if so what is it like when an anteater gives birth? Are you rehabilitating her or is she a pet?
sorry if that is too many questions, she is amazing! I have always loved animals and I always wanted to be a wildlife rehabilitator when I was younger but I never knew the amount of work, and money, put into helping some of these animals. I found out the hard way that it is so easy to get attached to them once you nurse them back.
@maboroshi9790 Pua is about 6 and hasn't had babies but she's not over the hill yet so it may still happen. She's a pet, was wild born but failed at wild living. We nursed her back to health. I have some videos of Baby Cinco shortly after birth. Aurora(mommy) was a recent rescue who turned out to be pregnant so I got to experience the baby. They have just one baby. Not being tame I wasn't involved. She ate a lot right before then labored a couple hours in the closet, then baby cries.
this is the creepiest shit ive seen in a while...

I have 5 dogs and 2 cats right now so that is all the "wild" I can take care of lol
oh, also, is the vinegar like the ant acid or is it reminiscent of something Pua would do in the wild to get rid of the ant acid?
