The cat's not being affectionate, it's marking you. Cats rub themselves against things to leave their scent on them, so other creatures know it's their property. That's why you see cats rubbing against furniture so much. They are a scent-driven animal... but yeah, I guess that's the closest we can get to having a cat's affection. :) Being "owned" by them.
