SX4 is the not scrawny but definitely not buff geeky kid, that goes to the gym and practices karate and is daydreaming he's a cross between Jason Stantham and Chuck Norris. But he's never been in a fight. If he was, he would be more likely to hurt himself than anyone else. The SX4 is an urban car, period. 4x4 is just for show, since, when are you actually going to need it? Unless of course you live somewhere far up north or most of your streets are unpaved.

@juita2cute There's an abundance of choices in this category these days. AWD is what sets the SX4 apart from the crowd. So if you live where the weather gets nasty in the winter or you have to drive on a lot of unpaved roads, the scales tip in the favor of the SX4. The Fiesta and Fiat 500 are my faves in the segment, so far ... but I'm heading out this afternoon to pick up a 2012 Chevy Sonic ... I haven't tested the new Hyundai Accent or Veloster yet.

@juita2cute I would Suggest on giving the Hyundai Accent or even the Honda Civic a try...Bullet proof inexpensive cars with a great reputation for being very reliable....The Hyundai Veloster is also good....The Chevrolet Sonic is an excellent compact car with an incredibly sporty character....But The Suzuki is also the perfect car for those seeking a sporty feeling car and want to be able to drive no matter what the weather is.

this car only gets 23/29 mpg the new 2012 impreza is going to get 27/36 which is like 30 percent better and the price is realy not to much different

I have owned this car for almost 2 years now and I love it. It ion keeps by far my favorite I have owned. It handles well, it's very efficient and it is worth every penny. I plan on keeping this car until it wont run anymore, which will probably be very far down the line.

Great review. I had no idea the SX4 handles so well. The video honestly looks sped up if I didn't know any better, but I know that it's not. My fiance and I are looking at an SX4 and it's too bad that she has to have the auto because damn does that manual look fun in the SX4.

We bought a used 2008 SX4 automatic hatch last month. We love it. After learning about possible crank walk issues with manual transmission models, I don't feel so bad. The automatic gated shifter is fun to poke around with the gears (within reason), and the auto is fairly smart about its shifting. We had a chance to try it out in the snow recently - with siped M+S rated tires, the SX4 was a blast and never got stuck or slid. This little beast is great.

@TheTrailTales Its NOT sped up, they are driving it full speed and the driver is being jolted cause its at the limit on those curves. Hes shifting it at redline and its making the video a bit jerky. Watch it again.

I've seen just a few negatives commented..sorry you had an issue. As for our 08 model we've had ZERO issues. Automatic shifts just fine. Have driven in upstate NY snow several years now, handles the road in blizzard conditions with ease. We love this car. When this one gets old enough I'm going to trade it in for another.

Great review btw. I sometimes miss manual shifting, but I don't miss clutch jobs...

I purchased a new 2010 Suzuki SX 4 in spring of 2010. It has only been driven the city in temperate non-winter conditions. No ice, snow, or gravel on the road. Much of the front end is pitted with paint chips. They are everywhere, right down to the primer. I take my car in for regular service intervals and keep it clean. The finish is rapidly disintegrating. I spoke with Suzuki corporate and they recommend I take it into the dealership. I will do this and keep you all posted.

@MrSubielove They look cool to me that is why I got it. If you want to see a weird looking car look at the nissan cube. My sx4 dont suck on gas, There are some blind spots buts if you watch out you wil be fine anyway. It dose look real lil but has room, but its not a weird looking car to me. It has more room then the ford focus trust me I know I looked b4 I got my sx4.

@MrSubielove I like the handling it takes turns real well no gas then brake in sharp turns. There is a bit of drag at times its not all that bad to me tho.

the sx4 is scary to drive...if you do buy one, don't get and automatic because if you do hope you have a good transmission because sometimes it doesn't change gears automatically...so good luck :-)

I just got this car 2 days ago put about 100 miles on it so far. The one I got is in black pearl and I love it it's fun to drive. Everyone seems to look at it when I pull next to someone. I have even had a few tell me how much they like it and I have only had it for 2 days! Suzuki is the best they are easy to work with and real nice.

$24-30 per oil change and every 30000 miles you need to do the $300 service.

The car comes with a 100000 mile warranty for the engine only.

You could do the service yourself assuming people have knowledge of the simple things to replace. On Mercedes i hear it costs like..600-1000 dollars for service..LOL

Is it the lowest priced AWD (car, truck, suv crossover, any vehicle ECT) sold in America? What would be the next expensive AWD? THE SX4 has a 2 speed transfer case? How it compare to other AWD. Is it full time or part time AWD? Why doesnt the sedan have AWD? What I like is an awd with manual transmission! What is the difference between AWD and 4wheel drive?

The sedan has a sport package that lowers the car with the addition of 17 inch rims, you dont want to go of road with this version so no need for AWD(this is not a race car ok). You can get a manual with the crossover version that includes AWD/ 4WD. The difference between AWD & 4WD is that AWD works the 4 tires when needed, and 4WD is 4 wheels all the time. This car offers all three with the push of a button. I am not sure what a 2 speed transfer case is

I think the next cheapest would be Pontiac Vibe with AWD. The SX4 has selectable drive, you can select either FWD, Auto-AWD, or AWD LOCK. This also is exclusive to SX4 in this catagory. It compares favorably to other AWD's in that it's more versatile with selectable gearing as well as bang for the buck. The sedan doesnt have AWD drive because it's more of a city car. Difference between AWD and 4WD is with AWD drive the wheels can turn at different ratios depending on the resistance. 4WD can't

We drove this car as a test drive, and believe it or not i am fond of this car. One of my family members, has a Subaru Impreza 98,and i found this car to be a very much look a like to the Subaru Impreza.

I really enjoyed the review! The SX4 is a car I will take for a test drive! The review of how it drives is great! But if you drove it for 'hundreds of miles', then make the video review longer, closer to 6 or 7 minutes and show the the car; inside and out as I liked what I DID see!

Fantastic little car. Even with the Rocky Road Outfitters lift kit, MPG is basically unaffected. So you get the best of both worlds: SUV-like off-road performance, and economy-car-like on-road performance and fuel economy!
