The beauty of his lyrics is that they can be interpreted how the listener wants to interpret them. When he says "You are the bluest light" I personally believe he is referring to the physics of wavelengths because blue light is the strongest most powerful light due to its short wavelength. A true blue light you can't look at with the bare eye. He is comparing a girl to this level of power and beauty.
Just an interpretation opinion of mine. Either way his lyrics are incredible.

@jetbtkng I live in the states and the media gives bloc party virtually no coverage. so this band wasn't "fed" to me. i stumbled upon them on my own and it was one of the happiest moments of my life. they live show bring a certain level of organic intamicy bereft of any artificial showman ship. they are real they are genuine. they are not trying to be rockstars, they are muscicians who care about what they right, and try and bring a level of honesty to their live shows. most bands can't say that
not to be too effusive about my praise, although there's hardly another song deserving, but the first line's delivery is on another plane...i love the album version, but this live version added so much more pathos to it, more so than the albums, that i think i like this one more than the albums...it tortures me how good this is, how honest and true the lyrics are and how much heart kele gives to it here...

im pretty sure blue light refers to the blue light bulbs that bar and shop owners put in the bathrooms so crack addicts can't see their veins but can still have enough light to use the crapper. they're really common in whales

it's blue because of polar light or something like that. all i know is that if the sky looks red, the light is going AWAY from you. if the sky is blue the light is going TOWARDS YOU. they're a very smart band =)

almost man, its called dopler shift. it aplies to light and sound. it explains the shift in pitch of a car horn as it drives past you. basically your almost right but its not the light coming towards u or goin away. its the object emitting the light approaching or goin away that makes the colour appear different
