crazy, from watching this band from the beginning back in the day, watching them grow older and get better...Its wild to think now Deftones is one of the biggest bands out there. And if you dont know them by now, you never will, and you shouldnt.

Personally, Megadeth blew me away. It was such a majestic performance. I think they made Metallica look like a pop band... I'm a huge Deftones fan, and it wasn't easy jumping around at the front, but you gotta remember that most people there were waiting for RATM, and might not have even heard any Deftones songs before. I enjoyed myself anyway with the core 'tones fans there though. I've never heard Chino better. Flawless performance from all members. Hell yeah. ;)

Deftones are not a stadium band they are best at intimate sweaty packed out venues, like the ULU which got a 5k review in Kerrang last month. Deftones are only partially a 'metal' band, they would be just as at home at Reading festival. Having been to sonisphere and download and seen the sort of crowds (i.e. cheese ball metal heads) they attract it's no surprise Deftones confused a lot of people and it's brilliant that they still do. It's kind of what happens when you produce challenging music.

@christuffer - You cant kill what's already dead mate & Megadeth sucked the life right out of the crowd. They were bland, didnt move from the spot, vocals were terrible - especially the highs. Not once did they bother to interact with the crowd. The performance cemented the fact that they are drab at best & killed off any interest I had in seeing them live in the future. Deftones are an aquired taste, but they owned anything Megadeth brought, and then some. One of the top sets of the weekend.

@christuffer I'm sorry but Megadeth were one of the worst main stage acts. I walked away and got food because they were just shockingly boring. Deftones however were one of the best main stage acts. Probably in the top 10 best, I would go so far as in my personal top 5. They brought a great show and everything was on form. Megadeth played terribly and to think they performed better than Deftones that day is madness.

@boidment I disagree with that... i feel like the Deftones had way more energy and enthusiasm. Megadeth just played song after song hardly talking to the crowd. It's hard (for the Deftones) to play a 'bad' set when you have such great songs

@boidment They started a bit dodgey but I thought they did get alot better and were on good form by the 5th song. Megadeth were a huge surprise. Much much better than i thought they'd be, and they kept the set old school which really helped. If you think that Deftones were the worst of the weekend you obviously didn't catch august burns red who were absolutely piss poor.

My boys..... They were so good! Have loved and adored Deftones now since late 90s and it's so great to see how happy they are now and they just made an incredible album. I was at this gig and they were great - I think Chino's vocals haven't been this good since the start. He rocked Passenger. Awesome scream in 7 Words!! Deftones forever. Nobody else even comes close.
