They had to cancel it because it was so good that more than half the audience (which as you know is below average intelligence!) thought it was for real!
@marcus2s they cancelled it because the reviews were uniformly dreadful and it simply wasn't in the least bit funny. All we got, week after week, was a boring rip-off of "The Day Today", The Day Today predicted, years in advance, how TV news output would eventually end up, whereas Broken News just rather ineptly lampooned the way it now is. Very low quality stuff, glad the BBC canned it.
@danbo1984 Not at all. They cancelled it because they realised it was too "near the knuckle" and they don't want to change because they (the Broadcasters) are intent on making "News" programmes into "Entertainment" (presumably because they are frightened that people will switch-off, if "The News" isn't exciting enough, or full of stupid video-graphics & cliches. When there's an announcement from the MOD, for instance, why do we have to cut to a reporter standing outside?
As a guy who is ashamed to have walked and talked on camerea for no known, newsworthy purpose, these satiric bits are tangy and hilarious therapy. But still, shame on me and shame on CNN, CNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS and every local news team in UK and USA.

That is very funny, because aside from the woman walking up and down the steps, the newsreaders and reporters seem very real. :)

This was the best show on TV. I can't believe it never got a follow up.

"This is 15 seconds in 15 seconds.
Here, it's that time again.
There, it's that man again.
And sport - golf.
That's it for now, more later".
I ON EARTH did they manage to fit all that, plus all those seconds into that 15 seconds. Outstanding
