  • how do you remove the plastic panel on top of the battery without damaging it

  • Hey Thanks, I was not aware that it’s so easy in BMW. I was told once we install the battery (same or new), the BMW onboard computer needs to be calibrated ?

..also do these discharge quickly on 2009 BMW 528i ?

  • @vigneshbaliga the onboard computer to be recalibrated if you change your battery.

and what do you mean by discharge quickly, are you talking about the battery?

  • Great video. Helped me switch out my battery on my 07 530i. Thank you

  • Kevin, do you have to reset the clock and reprogram the iDrive to recognize your new battery? Do you have to keep your car running while changing the battery to prevent data lost?

  • @datowong The only thing you will need to reset is your clock and you absolutely should not have the car running while you change the battery.

  • Thks Kevin! What about reprograming the iDrive to recognize the new battery?

  • @datowong You shouldn't need to because I did not need to either.

  • @xxkevinxx323 Thks Kevin. Do you have a video changing your bimmer oil? Appreciate your vid.

  • @datowong I don't yet but i will try to make one as soon as possible

  • @xxkevinxx323 Kevin, where is the oil filter located? Thks.

  • @datowong The oil filter is located in the engine bay towards the front near the radiator. Here is a picture tiny(dot)cc/i5g99. It is located in the smaller black housing thing on the left. You are going to need a special larger socket to open it up.

  • @xxkevinxx323 Found it. I have to buy a flexible wrench to open this cap. Somehow the filter I bought from Mann model 925x4 doesnt fix. I measure the existing filter is only 3 inches. Where do you buy your filter? Thks.

  • Kevin, what model and brand do you used for your 530i e60 oil filter? Thks!

  • @datowong I buy my oil filters online off of amazon. Usually i use a brand called Mann. I have a 525i so i get the HU 925/4 X model.

  • @xxkevinxx323 Kenny, I have a 2006 530i but the filter model is Mann Filter 816x and it belongs to 2007 model. I am shocked. I bought the HU 925/4x but wont fix. Anyway, thank for your responses and vid. I learned a lot from you.

  • Hi, Kevin. This video's just great! First of all, it pointed out the exact location of the battery on my 2010 550i; secondly, removal/install process was very clear although I was able to buy a duplicate size replacement battery from Kragen. I'd like to mention specifically that all my stored data in the vehicle were not erased. That was an easy fix-it for me. Thank you again.

  • I really hope no one replaces batteries in there BMW the way you have done. Especialy for newer model BMW's. Your first mistake was removing your cars battery and not using a KAM unit to keep your cars momery and settings which in some BMW's will cost hundreds to thousands of dollars to fix. Second using a battery that is too small can cause problems for your alternator down the road. At least you put a ventilated battery in which was about the only thing done right. Card board really?

  • Thanks very much Kenny. Made the job much easier for me.

  • Hi Kevin. It was a great video. I was told that new battery if different CCA needs to be reprogrammed and all new batteries need to be registered. Do you know about this requirement?

  • @vijay2007bmw530xi This is what the dealer recommended. I personally i didn't notice anything different as far as the recharging capability or the sufficient power needed to start the car each day. Also, the battery comes with a 3 year warranty. If the battery fails for any reason, you can always bring it back to Wal mart or Sam's Club- depending on where you purchase the battery. I hope this helps.

  • @vijay2007bmw530xi Battery registration is required in most BMW's 05 and up and some BMW's require AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries not lead acid batteries.

  • excellent
