  • IS it okay to serve this to children ? What i mean is even though the batter does contain beer , would it like cook off during the frying process?

  • And here i thought beer and onion rings were and american food...

  • even if you don't drink beer you should still use it, all the ingrediants come out and give it real flavour, there is no taste of beer what so ever. a tip also is to cover the onions with flour right before you dip them in the batter, this help the batter to stick, given you a nice even coating

  • what was the garnish....leacee?

  • 0:58 uh.... is there an exorcism going on in there? O.o

  • I'm dying here people... I've already asked on other Kai vids -- what is the song in the background???? I must have this song!!!

  • @colonelskillz Ha Ha EVERYTHING is :D

  • he should make his kids be the prep cooks

  • Looks awsome, keep it going =D

  • and that is sweet chili sauce.

  • mixing cuisine from many cultures is great, you never know what you'll get. These idiots screaming its not thai are stupid. Food is meant to be experimented with! How do you think ?THAI? food was created? Someone experimented with local ingredients to create ?THAI? dishes. Get your narrow mind out of your ass.

  • That is the best twist on a recipe ever. thank you.

Onion ring recipes in Britain are SO boring.

  • Onion ring is not THAI FOOD...

  • its a Thai VERSION of onion rings -_-

  • I'm Thai. I know what Thai food is. The original Thai foods are cooked with only red onion. Is it clear?

  • im clear just trying to make phupong2007 understand -_-

  • hes saying its a thai-ified version of an american food, not thai food

  • you kick ass man :D

  • THANK YOU FOR THE GOOD RECIPE

  • yes you can reuse the oil! Trust me, my paretns own a restaraunt and they have a batter. They do not change the 6l of oil after every fried meals.... Use the oil until its really dark and yucky. Just store the oil and when you need it heat it up. *Always let oil cool before storing it*

  • I have a question, given the oil prices are up (cooking oil too) is it possible to fry in the same oil you might have fried another thai dish in instead of using 3 cups per meal to fry in? anyone know?

Also is there a substitute for galangal powder that would work in this recipe?

  • i don't see why not dude. other than the little bits of crumbs left over, it's still oil. reuse. great idea

  • you can use it over and over untill its dark, understand its so hot no germs or anything can live in it.burgerking uses its fry oil for 2or 3 days then switch it over to the fryer they cook the onion rings and meat in for another 2 or 3 days. with all they deep fry they still use the oil for about a week

  • Thank you both muncleike and pnamed, with the price of cooking oil this is good to know, I just felt like crap getting rid of all that oil when I only used it once.

Do you guys know if cooking oil goes bad? I ask because I smelled an older oil I had (that was stored in a plastic bottle) and it smelled EXACTLY like melted plastic, sniff your older oils, I never did till lately and was really surprised!

I decided to buy gallon glass jugs for my oils to see if it helps further leeching

  • ahhhhh....the art of onion rings....

  • cool

  • Looks like the galangal powder makes it Thai, otherwise it seems like regular beer batter.

  • Kai, what is "galangal" powder? I'm an asian too but never heard galangal...what can I substitute for this instead..thanks

  • Very nice recipe- thank you!

Finally, there's a use for Rolling Rock beer!

  • Awesome recipe! thanks!!!

  • Cool, thanks.

  • he is obviously not english guy..he is thai which is quite hard for them to pronounce english words so give him a lil break!

adding beer is something new so thanks for sharing the recipe..

    galangal powder is blue ginger

  • so? lets hear you speak indian, or mandarin, or thai.

  • thanks man ill try it

  • says the bitch

  • What a gooey mess this makes to clean up. Beer Fly Onyah Wings.

  • I love the kid screaming in the backround...lol.

  • I mimicked the recipe step by step but it turned out pretty flavorless. However the crunch was there. I even added more ingredients afterwards and it was still pretty bland.

  • YOU DIDNT USE THE RIGHT BEER!!!

  • wonderful

  • Thanks for sharing this recipe! I look forward to trying it.

  • whats the difference if ur going to use water instead of beer?

  • Can I use another ingredient instead of galangal powder?

  • Garlic powder will be fine.

  • What difference does beer do to the onion rings compared to water?

  • adds flavour, binds better

  • Thanks, you're great. Keep it up! Can't wait to try
