  • 7:45 = AMAZING!!! I wish I could be in the Sleeping Beauty Production.

  • i've been teached for the 3rd fairies

  • can someone please comment on what the names of each of the fairies are in order of heir appearance in this video please? my school's production of the sleeping beauty is this spring and I was wondering what all of their names are in this order.... ?

  • @dancingqueen538 lol I love this vari and have loved it since I was three and lol I got that one as my variation this year!!! Crazy!!!!! Lol :)

  • @hellokittykatkim I believe it was recorded in 2006. They have the full Royal Ballet recording posted on youtube.

  • that. was. superb. thank you royal ballet!!!!!!!! <3

  • Marianella!!!!!!!! DIOSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the fairy from 4:15 = GORGEOUS!!! :)

  • muy lindas todas las variaciones pero la coda no me gusto... lilas genial

  • Does anyone know who danced which fairy? I thought I recognised Laura Morera dancing before Marianela Nunez but I wasn't sure about any of the others.

  • @ParanoidAndroidDA

1st fairy : Isabel McMeekan, 2nd: Lauren Cuthbertson 3rd: Mara Galeazzi 4th,canary: Deirdre Chapman, 5th,finger fairy: Laura Morera and 6th, Lilac fairy: Marianela Nuñez.

  • My favourite is the first, Candid, whose gift is purity. And, of course, the Lilac Fairy is beautiful. We're studying Sleeping Beauty in ballet history class, and it is breathtaking to watch the Royal Ballet version (the best we've seen so far is this exact performance.) But honestly, who names a fairy Breadcrumb? =)

  • Her footwork is amazing.

  • Very good,i liked it ;)

  • muito bom,adorei :)

  • i learned some of these in class and performed the first one with one of my friends. i had a lot of fun but i also didnt mention that we did them differently and it was easy! i learned the first third and fourth one. so much fun!

  • I don't know... I do like marianela nuñez but i still prefering the kirov coreography, and for lilac, this is my point of view of course, i prefer Benasir Hussein...

  • What year did they do this production?

  • perfection

  • THis dance is performed SO well! i am doin this with my pointe class maybe for our upcoming performance! ours could never be as good as this one though! <3 :P

  • HELP! for my dance classs i have to pick a variation of ballet pantomime and i have no idea what to do for it! i thought about Giselle but i just dont know.

  • my dance studio learned all these with the same choreography for when we did sleeeping beauty. My favorites are the force and lilac fairy...i got to perform the lilac fairy. All of these dancers perform so beautifully. Love, love, love

  • i personally think they degraded the fiairy variations. they all look watered down compair to what they originally call for. >:( if its to easy then it doesnt look as brilliant as it should. the 1997 or whatever year it was production was way better than this one

  • I've always wondered what the gifts are. Can someone say?

  • @hippolyte90 Fairy 1 is purity, 2 is eloquence, 3 is generosity, 4 is something to do with presentation and being well-spoken (I forget the word for it), 5 is energy, and the 6th, the lilac fairy, has many gifts, such as wisdom. (studying for a ballet history test) =)

  • @ballerinaemmy thank you :)

  • Not a fan of the choreographic modifications or the camera work, but the dancers are stunning. And @ballerinaemmy Candide is traditionally associated with purity, but I think her gift is beauty in this production because @0:41 she mimes "beautiful skin" BTW eloquence is the same as being well-spoken; the actual gift of the 2nd fairy here is vitality (originally beauty). As for the fairy Miettes ("breadcrumbs"), she was named so because it was a Russian tradition to sprinkle them on the baby :)

  • there are actually 6 GOOD Fairies-- while the 7th is the uninvited wicked Carabosse

these are the fairies 1 Candide (Candor) 2 Coulante, Fleur de farine (Flowing, Wheat flour) 3 Miettes qui tombent (Falling breadcrumbs) 4 Canari qui chante (Singing canary) 5 Violente (Force) 6 The Lilac Fairy 7 Carabosse

while these are the fairies present during the wedding: The Gold, Silver, Sapphire, and Diamond Fairies

  • @mrkumica

I agree about the 3rd variation

My school is learning their choreo almost exactly for our sleeping beauty and I've learned every fairy and the 3rd was one of the more easier ones but also one of my least favorites

  • Fantastic! And you even can't compare it to football. Ballet is art and hardest work, while football is for stupid men.

  • Thank you for uploading this!!!:)

  • I don't like the third variation,it's kind of boring...the dancer is great but I don't like music

  • what are the names of the faires in order?

  • The lilac fairy was exquisite...makes me want to be a true ballerina

But today I started piques on pointe! At least it's a start

  • Laura Morera is FANTASTIC!

  • did anyone else see that perfect 3 pirouettes...flawless

  • i love royal ballet

  • omg when the purple fairy came on mouth dropped open she is an amazing dancer

  • lovely dancing :)

  • Es fantástico como bailan. Su técnica y su nivel artístico, su estilo inglés maravilloso.

Pero estas variaciones no corresponden al primer acto, sino al prólogo.

  • @MrEminem321

First: in proper English it is: The boys ARE so gay.

Second: What makes them gay? the fact that they are wearing tights? Pastel colors? or just because they do ballet?

Ballet dancers MrEminem321 are ELITE athletes, what they do is as hard or even harder than football.

Your comment, besides being rude and offensive for those of us who work/appreciate ballet, shows how little education you have.

  • @aeternusdanseur well said!!! aeternusdanseur!! i love watching the men dance, if only people knew how much strength, effort and work it took to make those leaps and turns so effortles...and the men do it with a smile on their face!!!

  • @aeternusdanseur @MrEminem321

And English is my 3rd language.

  • @aeternusdanseur I agree. My best friend is a male ballet dancer. He nearly cried for 3 recitals in a row b/c people called him gay. Then he did cry. I hate it when people call ballet dancers who are boys 'GAY"

  • @aeternusdanseur I could not agree more. Very well spoken!!!

  • @aeternusdanseur I personally think they look gay as when I see the firy godmothers I think it to be a dishonor to have them with guys insted of danceing byt them selves and personally I dont like watching male dancers. i think their bodys and manish movements are graceless and....un-appealing to watch. maybe if they can come up with more intersting moves to watch then I'll enjoy watching them

  • Anyone who says male ballet dancers are gay has probably never been as close to a girl, especially one whos prancing around in rather revealing clothing, as that so called "gay" guy is. Plus who says being gay is a bad thing?

  • @MrEminem321, I totally agree with everyone else's comments. One, your grammar is poor. Two, being a ballet dancer does NOT make a guy guy. My closest friend is also a danseur, and he is talented, passionate, and strong. He is far more dedicated to what he does than any athlete I know, and he pours a lot more blood and sweat into it. He's a perfect gentleman, and has rather a thing for women. So please keep your rudeness to yourself.

  • Iknow the 1st (crystal fountain fairy) the 2nd (Enchanted Garden fairy) and the 5th (Finger fairy)

My teacher was a principal at the royal ballet and she taught us these solo's and also the bluebird solo (Royal Ballet Version).

  • Marianela is fantastic dancer but other I realy dont like it schould be better ...

  • Went to my first ballet this year to see Birmingham Royal Ballet do this...not something I would have considered a few years ago given my background but absolutely LOVED it! Highly recommended...AMAZING!!

  • yes, the order is right!

  • @danse85 Finally!

  • what order do the fairies dance in?

  • My company is doing sleeping beauty right now and they are in order, Crystal Fountain fairy, Enchanted Garden Fairy, Woodland Glades fairy, Song bird fairy, Golden Vine fairy, and Lilac fairy

  • yes,me too! I will dance fleur de farine for my dance graduation:)

  • I love Lilac,Violente and Coulante & Fleur de Farine!!
