  • when i go to globalnursery(.)com it says the site you are looking for can't be found any tips i can load the ants canada and store just not the live ants section

  • i wonder whats going though those ants minds

  • For those species that don't hibernate. Do i have to buy a heat mat for them??

  • @TheSordikof I'm no expert like Mike but I'm very experienced with Ant rearing. I would say no a heat mat isn't needed if the room they are kept in is generally a warm temperature.

  • where do you buy your test tubes

  • how long should you hibernate a queen ant?

  • how long should you hibernate a queen ants?

  • @AntsCanada

How do you hibernate an entire large colony? Do you just put the formicariums and out worlds in a colder place or do you seperate the out worlds? Please tell me. Love your videos.

  • Man the ending of this video was so awesome and well done.

  • 05:04 haha lol you funny

  • you should do what i do when water logged for quick solving while you deal with it and - get a needle and syringe and suck the water out and out the cotton so its dry while you sort it out

  • Can I just put he whole enclosure in by cold dark closet? If you put the whole colony in hibernation does that also mean the pupue and eggs? What will happen if the eggs hatch during hybernation?

  • if there isnt water in my test tube can i take the coten out and refil it?

  • i have a queen why do u need cotten and most u make the holes or will they and she has no wings those that mean shes preanunt and shes in a big big jar whit sand will she dig

  • @AntsNorthAmerica Lasius neoniger

  • awwww... hey, can't you just put the ant farm or colony by cold temperatures and have them adjust to the climate? great vids keep it up it's copious serio!

  • can you leave your queen in her nest with her workers or do you have to seperate her to hibernate? thanks

  • @ryanwillwams Yes, the colony must hibernate together always. You should never separate the queen from her workers. :) They're a family for life!

  • have you ever thought of actually labeling them?

  • hey Mikey, great video! Do you feed your queens when they have woken from hibernation, if they have no workers? Some people say do, others say dont?! thanks

  • Thank you. No, I do not feed them during hibernation. In the cold, their body slows down to a bare minimum and they expend energy very slowly. I feed them a big meal before hibernation and a big meal after. Those who don't hibernate or keep their ants in the warmth during the winter, may have to feed the ants because their bodies are warm.

  • @AntsCanada thanks Mikey you are quick!

  • I just read your question over again, and yes, I do try to feed the queens without workers when they wake up from hibernation. Sometimes the queens still won't eat or even drink honey after hibernation. Fish sometimes works at feeding queens after hibernation. If they refuse food after hibernation, I just leave them alone.

  • @AntsCanada Fish? interesting! I will let you know how I get on with my queens as they are just coming out of hibernation, some with workers, some without. Good stuff =)

  • very interesting! it helps us new ant lovers feel more confident when we have a nice quality tutorial to watch!

  • Thanks! really informative.
