  • the great and amazing Frederick Delius

  • Beautiful music and a lovely garden!

  • Yes, Delius is very special. Haunting, dreamy music which works so soothing and captures the spirit of England`s bygone days....getting quite carried away!! Thanks so much to all who have contributed.

  • Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;

And give us not to think so far away

As the uncertain harvest; keep us here

All simply in the springing of the year.

  • Thank you for posting this. Delius' music is very touching. I love this piece especially.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. Delius' music is once heard and never forgotten. When I was a teenager, my fav was Debussy, but when I heard Delius, the latter became my fav, has been for almost the past 20 years. Other composers' music may make me feel happy, but Delius always makes me feel alive.

  • Who is conducting and playing this fabulous performance? Thanks for the gorgeous video.

  • This performance was included on a "sampler" cd given away with a Hi-Fi mag, many years ago.

Sorry I can't be more help.

    Glad you like the piece.

  • @nightsampler

Sir Thomas Beecham was generally regarded as the best interpreter and conductor of Delius.

  • This just so beautiful!!!!

I played it three times in a row

    A beautiful gift

  • Knowing about Delius' life makes his music even more special. There is an excellent movie called Song of Summer which is here on You Tube. This video was so lovely, thank you!

  • I imagine you already know the song "Delius ( Song of Summer ) by Kate Bush..."In B Fenby!"

    Glad you like the images.

  • This is absolutely gorgeous.

  • This is absolutely gorgeous.

  • Thank you very much for this video. I've got "On hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring" with London Philharmonic Orchestra under Vernon Handley on CD. But this version here is the most fairy-tale-like I ever heard. Yes, music pieces by Delius are fairy-tales!

  • una obra maestra, muy calida y de una textura muy suave, esta obra toca el alma de cada uno sol fa####### mi re siiii sol fa### re miiiiiii

  • Sounds like a bit of the end of summer!

  • There is something to it. But autumn is a wonderful season, too. The music sounds like a fairy-tale, romantic.

  • Spring is my favourite season! May I visit your garden? You have such wonderful flowers! Thank you for sharing this wonderful video!

  • Absolutely stunning usage of Delius' music with great visuals. Touching, moving and it all fits beautifully. THANK YOU!

  • Delius es mi favorito

  • Simply breathtaking. Thank you for posting this.

  • This is a masterpiece of Impressionism. if you like "On Hearing The First Cuckoo In Spring" By Frederick Delius, you should also check out "Pavane For A Dead Princess" by Maurice Ravel.

    Steve Liu

  • The music here IS "On Hearing The First Cuckoo in Spring".

Thank you very much for suggesting "Pavane For A Dead Princess"!

Ravel and Debussy are great masters of impressionism.
