Great video! We took the California Zephyr and then the Cardinal to Baltimore and back to the west coast. Unfortunately, I only had a digital still camera to capture video of the trip but I have the videos on my channel if you want to take a look. Next to driving across the country, Amtrak is the very best way to see America.

Dang nice vid. I have ridden the California Zephyr many times round trip between Reno, Nevada and Chicago, Illinois in a sleeper. 5 stars!

Than you for yor comment. I had a trip from San Francisco (Emeryville) to Denver in a family sleeper. It was also 5 star! But I got off at Grand Junction and stayed one night to have a sightseeing there and took Zephyr again the next day to Denver.

I have not been to Chicago yet. How about the view between Denver and Chicago?

They time the route so that you go through the majority of eastern Colorado and Nebraska at night when you travel between Denver & Chicago. Also it depends what time you travel, if you travel west between Chicago and Denver during the summers and the train is relativly on time then you will see all of Illinois and a good chunk of Iowa during the daylight hours, you will get a nice sunset over southern Iowa. Lots of corn fields and small towns between Chicago and Denver.
