  • Dr Vincent is a bigger loss to Singaporeans than George Yeo. George was looking after external interests but Vincent would have looked after Singaporeans internal interests.

  • @waterpipe123 Don't forget external interests can be directly linked to internal interests too

  • This is not a forum looks moree like a debate with a 'minute' thing

  • Tharman looks SHOCK that Vincent knows about purchasing power of SG? haha... that's our PAP Finance Minister for you! DUMB BOTAK

  • his arguments were concise and hard-hitting and i was thoroughly, thoroughly impressed.

  • @shengledead no. He is a new singapore citizen. Must be from china, philippines or burma.

  • @inshore137 you must be LHL's family member or what?

  • Comment removed

  • tharman was talking like an elitist ...he doesnt know how it is for ppl like us...vincent totally served it to him!

  • No minimum wage for workers at the lowest rung of employment and no ceiling for ministers' pay at the top! What paradox. ... setting the minimum pay for lowly workers will hurt the economy but paying millions to the ministers while the poor suffer is OK.

  • @waterpipe123 bullseye

  • wow.

  • Start the Singapore Revolution to end one familee rule.

  • New Idol ^^

  • SD Obama here...

  • Dr Vincent is the Man!!!! PM Vin...

  • To be an expatriate from Zürich, living in Singapore is great, so much privileges.

But, average earning, for the low range working people, in Zürich must be about 5'500 and most probably CHF a month. How much in Singapore?

Thus sais, if one looks at the neighboring countries, Singapore by comparison is great!

  • @TKartekcetera You as an expatriate would never understand our problems.I am not saying it is your fault or even against you.But just saying we've been living much longer, our parents, our great-parents all lived here.We know it feels when you can buy a flat for yourself. We feel how difficult it is for us to raise a family.

  • @TKartekcetera The rich are almost having zero problems, the poor get poorer.Yes the poor do sometimes get financial help but what about the middle income folks like us that are the majority in this state? We are stuck.

You want to compare us to other countries in the region, you can gladly do so.But also do keep in mind that Singapore do not have any natural resources and we all rely on education and technology to come up in life in this state.

  • @TKartekcetera Even the low pay jobs are being challenged by foreigners because they don't mind the low pay because converted to their currency, they're doing pretty good but how about those that live here? It's so expensive.Look at the views of poor and the middle income folks/citizens of this state then you'd know what's truly going. So you'd like to keep that in mind.

  • @TKartekcetera Ofcourse it's great for expatriates, because of our lop-sided foreign policy. Instead of applying the sense of "charity begins at home", PAP is enriching foreign people such as yourself and turning a deaf ear to the plight of its own people. Thus, you can understand/appreciate the worry and frustration of the locals. On the one hand we want to be good hosts to you, our foreign friends who come here and work, but our government is really doing a dis-service unto us.

  • Great debate. A voice for those who are left behind. A voice for the voiceless.

  • i think i've found my political idol. hahaha *swoons* hahaha,

  • how is singapore going to survive in the global market by placing singaporeans first? our economy is simply too small and our resources too limited for us to play this form of self-privileging game play. We will only be crippling ourselves in the long run.

  • You can everything HIGH quality.... But whether Singaporeans can afford or enjoyed that so called HIGH quality, thats the issue we are talking about.

We are talking about WIDENING GAP here between Singaporeans. Obviously, you WILL use your BRAIN not just to look at median.

And do not shoot yourself in the leg by saying " Walking Around Test"

People, it is very obvious PAP has lost far touch with Singaporean LIFE !!!

  • WELL DONE Dr VINCENT!!! Salute you... THIS TIME ROUND I DECIDE TO BE RACIST... VOTE FOR THE BLACK AND NOT THE WHITE... pun intended...

  • Raise income tax for FT, to compensate people who have spent a significant part of their youth in NS, and have to go back for re-service annually and abide by military rules, and compromising on their job prospects, productivity, commission, etc.

  • @2:49

It is good for the PAP (whoops!), but it is good for Singapore as well...(phew)

  • In singapore, the govt still measures by GDP. They should measure PPP - Purchasing Power Parity which simply means what you can buy with the money you earn, and relative to other country! My sister stays in the US and a Starbuck housebrew Coffee cost USD0.99, here starbuck cost $4 up! that's about 3-4 times more!

  • Vincent is the man!!

  • he also kept taking numbers out of context to aid his argument. if he cant listen, how can we put him in charge

  • I am so not voting for him

  • 0 rate GST for basic goods, and then a gradated gst for other goods...How the hell are you proposing to collect this tax? It'll be an accounting nightmare....

  • Gay or not, he has my support.

  • He is gay? REALLY!?!??!?!

  • @zhizian what does it matter? If you can't get over the fact that he might be gay or not, I feel sad for your children

  • Great video!

  • the host is annoying. DETESTABLE!!!!!

  • hell yeah !

  • @DumbAmericans2011

    doesnt make a damn difference

  • Words of truth, speaking for the lower income quadrant of Singaporeans. Stop making money from basic necessity, stop making money from housing. Put simply; Stop making a "Corporation" out of Singapore

  • screw PAP

  • The best opposition in many years! Yr Points Is Spot On!

Ministers earns millions and there are people earning $4 an hour...

    PM Lee Earns 10K a day ...

  • "just do a walking around test and you know what i mean..."

"well i don't know what you mean, we walk around every week"

    LOL!!!

  • where is Dr Vincent going to be contesting? hope its in Tanjong Pagar!!

  • i would smile to sleep every night if he's my prime minister. :)

  • Im only 16,and Im already feeling the stress...

    Screw PAP!!!

  • LOL at the "-_- @04:18

  • hahaha nice one vincent. PAP cannot answer the gst question because the rich is definitely more stingy than the poor and they will question why only rich pay gst but not the poor. Tharman is evading the real truth in his answer that the rich must be pampered for them to stay=more tax revenue. So pap is harbouring the rich first policy.

  • Minister would you like to respond to all the views? Haha..there is only one view!

  • vote for democracy!

  • You are first class Opposition. These two PAP are just no match for u!! U have my vote for sure!!!! PAP- Fyi, Singaporean is more intelligent than u think!!!

  • anyone else finds tharman's voice excruciatingly irritating?

  • in a nutshell the 2 Indians are in the llimelight, Mrs Chiam ,she rather stay at home

Such dialogue are definitely PAP biased by Mediacorp...after viewing this...I just drop every subsequent dialogue.

  • super biased host omg. CNA is just another mouth machine for PAP

  • Dr Vincent has my vote

  • i want to vote oppositon party.they are smarter now.

  • Amongst the top amount of govt reserves in the world, overshot GDP per capita, tight control of disposable income(collect CPF,double/triple tax) but lowest happiness per capita. So true. 95% of bank accounts are empty compared to those achievements.

  • hahaha the host is biased. Nobody dare to refute Kuan Yew, thats the fullest extent of brainwashing here.

  • Wow gay politician in Singapore! Cool!

  • This is the man.

  • hmm is the survey is bad for PAP, just say the survey has many faults, then come up with another survey that shows PAP's leadership of singapore is good

  • Vincent FTW. I think if we agree to this, the least we can help is to make a donation to them via their website.

  • thanks for the upload and edit....i missed out the first part on TV, other the vincent, the rest of the OP, were really disappointing, and un-inspiring...

  • "...To serve rather than just to lead." Well said.

A CEO pays himself top dollars because he leads his company to great profits. Politicians who are here to serve should not peg their pay to private wages, just like an NSman is paid an allowance for his service to the nation.

  • Finally a Doctors in the ranks of the opposition! Someone intellectual finally! Now then can compete on equal footing.

  • yes! the moderator mellissa hyak was also impressed! she said "Excellent!!" hahah

  • lol moderator said. "excellent" :o

  • SDP should consider letting Dr Vincent stand in a SMC. As we all know, it is very difficult for Opposition to win a GRC.

And according to ST report, SDP sending 3 minorities and 1 Chinese canddate to Bukit Timah GRC - this combination look quite funny.

  • Why wasn't KJ invited, are they scared...

  • Let's just hope Singaporeans wake up from this air of fear, and dare to think for themselves. Something has to change and I hope it happens this year. No more of these daylight robbery and bullying please

  • Well done.. Opp talking n making more senses... My friend staying in Bt Panjang hdb 3rm flat has neighbour who own 2 expensive car.. Both brother and sister.. Both re young.. How can they make us pay GST at the same rate...

  • would love to see more opposition politicians like him.

@actstasi i agree on some aspects, primarily housing, simply because your expat bosses don't have access to public housing as singaporeans do. however, if you have been to switzerland, you would find that basic amenities and even food, are exorbitant, from S$15 just for a simple sandwich or small lunch.

  • A good opposition, Dr Vincent, You have my vote!!!!!

  • Tharman just got OWNED royally.......

  • Do realize that we are all paying GST but still getting taxed on our salary which part of it was already taxed as GST!!! Thats double taxation.

  • I heard this first hand from two of my white bosses who have worked all over the world – they say that Singapore is more expensive than Zurich.

  • @actstasi haha that is so not true. everything in Zurich is super ex

  • LOVE for Vincent! Too awesome!!!

  • @seahlisong You said you have stayed, as in past tense, which I would assume you were there as a student. In that case, you wouldn't be living there as a citizen enjoying the welfare benefits provided. Is that a fair comparision to the Singapore's cost of living?

  • @seahlisong Singapore is clearly one of the most expensive ctiies in the world, ranked 10th or 11th depending on the institution conducting the survey.

You should take the effort to check up the facts before even doubting them, or risk having your credibility doubted as well. Also, the point he is raising is that wages have remained stagnant while cost of living have rised significantly these past years, which is a valid point that the PAP are trying to address as well.

  • @seahlisong Average lifespans have increased over the years for Kenya as well, and their country is plagued with AIDS. Average lifespan is only one of the indicators of standard of living, but does not project an overall picture Japan's economy is faltering and yet their lifespans are still as high as before.Median income increased, but so have property prices, at a must faster rate.

  • Dr Vincent totally embarassed the 2 PAP reps. I respect his wit and passion to fight for the rights and needs of S'poreans. I'd like to see him as an MP rather than some feet-stomping and clueless, materialistic dud

  • Agreed. Not only does he speak fluently, he also makes sense and is pretty sharp. It is going to be an interesting election.

  • Dr Vincent, you changed my view on SDP.

  • the host actually annoys me to the maximum!

  • @snowygurl87

    LOL.. the host seems biased.

  • @snowygurl87

But she is constrained by time.. she's only the TImekeeper :)

  • Gerald Giam focuses on one point instead of digressing to too many points... which is that an alternative govt is needed.

  • @curiousboy hahahaha thats true! but not many think that way so they need to put their points across

  • @snowygurl87

I think it's good Gerald focused on one point abt the need for alternative govt cos that is the starting point for all the rest of the things that the Opp wan to do. Also, by focusing on this point, he is reiterating his party's stand on this as well. I've noticed in other forums, the WP also puts this as a key point. putting more Opp.

  • Well done, Dr Vincent!

  • Actually Gerald speaks well too but the highlight is on Vincent.

  • I am your new found fan, Dr Vincent!
