I was standing behind the amps on the left. I thought I'd get a glimpse of me. Didn't remember that it was filmed until now. 2/1/2012. When delivering a note to Felix, I banged my head on the scaffolding. When the stars cleared, I realized I was standing in front on 30,000 hippies. Scary. I had just come from talking with Alvin Lee who was upset by the unruly crowd that rushed the stage.
It's a little funny, it kinda sounds like he isn't getting all the bite he wants out of those sunns. I say this cause I know all to well what that is like> and it sure sounds that way to me. ZiNth generation audio no doubt ofcourse.
Leslie West has already had part of a leg removed because of his life long diabetes an piss poor diet. He is alot thinner now-a-dayz and still jamming. I saw him in 1970 on the grounds of Appalachian State in North Carolina. Great concert,,, lots of LDS.
I also remember that Corky had an Asian girl friend who would pass him a drum stick from behind his back as he broke them. And there were "suits" behind the stage, which gave the rumor that the NY mafia was involved with Mountain.
I was at this festival. We (my friend and I) had seen Mountain during Easter spring break in Eastown theatre in Detroit opening for Joe Cocker. We drove down (from Cleveland) to Cincinnati mainly to see Mountain, but it was a great all around festival.
I want Felix's old EB- 1!!!!! What a cool bass why doesn't GIBSON re-issue it!!?? Hell Jack Buce has bee playing one since I saw him at the CREAM reunion concert! REISSUE!!!! GIBSON!!!
@bentpolski they did. just prepare to eat bologna sanwiches for a while, as gibson overprices every reissue. look at the randy rhoads les paul. go to gibson.com
Notice how all the people dancing at 4:18 are off-beat. It always amazes me how some people who can be complete music obsessives, can have absolutely no rhythm.
@bugstrut - this is most probably due to the fact that sound takes time to reach the ears of the audience, and the greater the distance a person is from the sound source, the longer the sound takes to reach that person. So, whereas we are hearing the music directly from the soundboard, as the performers are playing it, those people dancing are hearing it a little later.
This is also the reason why large crowds - at a sporting event, for example - do not sing a National Anthem in unison.
WCPO TV channel 9 in Cincinnati, Oh filmed this festival. Most of the shots of the crowd only dancing were from when other bands were playing. Great day at Crosley Field, a week later the last Reds game was played there. I was at this festival and that game.
Toward the end of the song, a kid without a shirt is on Leslie's wall of amps tryin to hold 'em and stop 'em from falling! Wow. Corky's gassed at the end of that one. Felix was running the notes! Awesome and thanks for posting!
Another great performance, killer vintage video of an excellent song. And as with the studio version, I must say this guitarist is second only to Paul Kossoff in vibrato second only to Phil Keaggy in soul/feel.
Awsome, wish I had been there!

@drj602 - I have also uploaded a version with better audio, but lesser quality picture. There is no timecode on the other video.

I enjoyed watching the audience just as much as Leslie West. Do you know where this concert was held? It sure looks like a day on the green to me.
