  • This looks yummy but can you make it without the turkey and bacon, I am a Muslim and we're not allowed to eat bacon and I hate Turkey :D. Would it taste bad if I did it without the meat?

  • @amnah10000 You can leave both out. It won't have quite the same depth of flavor, but it will still taste good!

  • Chef Jason Hill, I was wondering if you can make baked beans from Scratch for us. I'll go check to see if you do that somewhere on here. I wanted to make the ones (and I'll skip the meat part for our liking) but would like to see the kind you soak overnight! Peace. Happy N.Y!

  • @SherrieLeaLaird Yes, I definitely have a recipe for scratch baked beans. This was a family recipe from my aunt that I wanted to share for people who wanted a shortcut. :)

  • This is by far the BEST Baked Beans recipe!

    What pans are you using?

  • @dasist Thanks! My aunt will be happy. I think the pan is Kirkland brand from Costco.

  • Made these today, was so delicious but a little too sweet, next time i'll cut down on the brown sugar by 1/2 or even 3/4. Nevertheless a delicious dish I will make again in the future :)

  • @razattack1337 Thanks! Yes, feel free to experiment and make it your own!

  • I really do learn a lot from your videos, but Baked beans from can...no thanks

it`s so simple to bake your own beans, and tastes way better

    Thank you and keep posting

  • I love baked beans. So delicious!

  • Had you tried boston baked beans

  • True.. It looks delicious and i will try it, but why do you add sugar? what exactly does it add? just sweetness?

  • @Az109

Hi, thanks. Yes the sugar adds sweetness. A tasty caramelized flavor.

  • Looks great, gonna try this.

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks!

  • I could never understand how someone could eat meat with sugar.... ah well, I suppose it's just a way of cooking

  • You don't like BBQ sauce, ketchup, ham, bacon, et cetera?

  • looks good

  • Man Ive gotta try this, I love beans and this looks like a win win situation! :)

Ive been trying to find some good goulash recipes with no luck at all :(. Could you consider putting up one recipe of it sometimes?

    Keep up the good work!

  • Hi, and thanks! I'll put a goulash recipe on our to-do list. Cheers! Jason

  • Thanks! Tamales are something we make every year, so we will definitely post a video. Cheers, Jason

  • Here in Brazil one can't find canned baked beans, so I would like to see recipe where you use regular beans. Nonetheless, the recipe seems great.

    Regards.

  • but you are using baked beans in a can and just enhancing it. this isnt really a baked bean recipe/ it a how to enhance a certain canned baked bean recipe.

  • Ok. Did you use your critical thinking skills to form this comment.... :P

  • haha.. I like a lot of your recipes. Just disappointed with this one. Its like saying "heres a recipe for chocolate cake, first ingredient, chocolate cake". lol i want to see a recipe for MAKING baked beans, not modifying them. thats all.

  • No worries! =]

  • YUM!!! can't wait to try it

  • Hope you enjoy this. It really is a great recipe! Thanks for commenting.

  • We tried it and loved it.. Making it again this weekend for the inlaws, I know they'll enjoy them too :) take care

  • Thanks for getting back to us! I'm glad you enjoyed the recipe! Cheers, Jason

  • I would use this recipe and leave out the turkey. I don't like too much meat in my beans. So the bacon would be just enough.

  • sweet, i thought beans take longer than that! my old man is a retard, he can't make beans.

  • radical recipe! i'll try it soon with my mom sumtime.

  • Thanks! I promise you'll love this one.

  • looks too sweet to me

  • Try it out and see what you think! Cheers, Jason

  • I made these beans not too long ago, and they are the absolute best I or anyone who had them have ever had. This was the first item everyone asked for at my daughters upcoming graduation. Although I replaced one can of Bush's for 3 of the glass jars of B&M baked beans, and added a bit more beef..absolutely fabulous - more of a meal in itself than a side...

  • Hello tmaz11.

Thanks for taking the time and commenting on this recipe.

You are so right that this could be a meal in itself! =]

    Thanks again,

    Jason

  • this recipe for baked beans has baked beans as its first ingredient. wow thats funny

  • You do not mention how much onion you used in this recipe. One cup or a whole medium onion?

I can not wait to try these beans!!

  • Sorry. I used a half onion, which is about a cup.

  • yummy!!! but i'm gonna use a diff. brand of beans coz i don't think we have bushe's in kuwait!!

and would't be nice to top the dish with some shredded cheddar or parmesan cheese? emmmmm emmmmm emmmmmmmm delicious :D

  • Thanks GooGoowa!

  • You look very happy about cooking those beans.

  • Thank you. =]

  • Do you drain off the Bacon grease? And can you use Soy Bacon and Soy (face meat)?

    Thanks.

  • I did not drain off the bacon grease. You can do that before adding the ground turkey or beef. I think a soy bacon product would work fine as a substitute for pork bacon.

    Thanks for commenting.

    Jason

  • Can you please make a video for baked beans using fresh beans? I'm from the philippines and they don't have any good canned baked beans here. Thanks again! Your Videos are great

  • Try using the canned baked beans you have first. The other ingredients in this recipe will help them out. If it does not turn out, then maybe we can come up with a recipe for using dried beans. Thanks for commenting!

  • How would pancetta do rather than bacon?

  • Good question. Pancetta is cured but not smoked. You will still get great flavor from pancetta.

  • I see you are using your versatile spatula good sir! xD

Four hours though? That's a long time. Too long for a wok-fan like me if you ask me! :D

  • LOL! The spatula rules!

The four hours is necessary for this recipe. It allows for reduction, and the concentration of flavors. Thanks for commenting!

    Cheers!

  • looks good!

  • Thank you!

  • Bushes are the Best !!

  • Bushes beans are the best IMO also !!

beans, beans make ya toot ... beans, beans the magical fruit

  • Easy there... :D

You are right, Bushes are the best!
