I can remember them filming this, it was filmed in two different pit towns,, the opening scene where young Sam ( Kevin Moreton) is running up the pit fields was filmed in Featherstone nr Pontefract West Yorkshire and on the closing scenes it was also Featherstone,Ackton Hall Colliery, i know this as my Grandfather had a bakers shop on green lane Featherstone,and when i went to visit on occasion,was the film crews

i watched every episode of this series bas the last one. one or two of the actors didnt live much longer after the series finished-althea charlton & Michael goodliffe for instance !
