  • I think the reason the girl who got the role of Aida got it is largely because she physically suits the role more - the girl playing Nehebka looks much younger, which is effective in the role she is in. I don't think such a young look would be appropriate as Aida. Yes, she could hit the F, but the girl playing Aida had a tone more suited to her role.

Love this version of the song!

  • my school did this musical. and it was very good at my school

  • It's good for a Youth theatre group but not that great :P

  • I love this Nehebka!

  • I love this!

  • Oops I mean I thot aida ran a country not a zoo

  • I thot aid

  • i thought this was absolutely, hands down a spectacular clip.... the girl who played Aida fit the part so well and as for the high note at the end... i LOVE the way it was executed... harmony is always an attention getter! Kudos to all of you that took part in this production! u did a WONDERFUL job!

  • Does someone else hit the high F?

  • eca. i still prefer the original Aida. Sorry, Elton John, but Verdi will always be better than you.

  • the only reson i dont like this is because the girl playing aida cany really sing and she couldnt even hit the last note my schools production was much better no offence

  • jesus, that dance was intense...

  • I might have a bias... but I think the Cole Harbour High Aida is much better...... though these people are good too...

  • holy crap your Nehebkah is so emotional and has a damn sexy voice!!

  • HAHAHAHA that was soo bad for so many reasons.

  • i'm doin this play in drama. lol right now

  • @Ryguyg10: from the girl playing Nehbka

  • good job kids.

  • WOW!! that was so intense!

  • Why don't any Aida's put on the robe? Our Aida actually put it on in the end and I like that symbolism better.

  • She does in the scene immediately following the song.

  • wow! that was really well done!!

  • A little pop-y vocally. But amazing dance!

  • Wow, that was so incredible! The dance was so ethnic and desperate, their actions really embodied the meaning of this peace. I LOVED IT!

  • I love the choreography!!!!!! Aida and Nehebka are both great...I don't know why people think Aida is bad...

  • i saw them live. AMAZING! it's been a few years. i just realized why she looked familiar. lol :)

  • Haha someone else was gonna sing the ending for her but drops out. She should have done it.

  • Yeah Aida isn't that good, and i agree the girl playing Nehebka is a better siner and i think also she looks more the part. However maybe her acting isn't that good. But this Aidia's acting isn't good i think and her voice is so pitchy. But Nehebka is also a dancer and they needed that.

  • another great song!

  • even though the girl who plays nehebka may have a better voice and can hit higher notes than aida, the girl who plays aida maybe a better actor. so thats why they picked her. she is also a very good singer. not the best one maybe, but id rather cast a good singer and great actor than a great singer and mediocre actor. because after all the play is about the acting. you can always lip synch songs, if the acting is bad, especially with a lead character, your play will suck.

  • Crap! No F! I know I heard the F fro a second at the end, but then it turned into a C again. :(

  • who's hitting the F? she's FANTASTIC..... and hidden. :-\

  • this AIDA isn't too good.

  • hi... love your video very much....i love to folow this musical ..Aida-Dance of the Robe. but wud it posible if all the videos has a number of episode or... anything .. that could guide me of how the story goes?

  • Checkout the playlist on my page.

  • do you have the whole show as whole

  • it gets rly good at about 2:20

  • nehebkah killed dis part man

  • really? I thought she did so amazing.

  • we interpreted this different but its still really powerful! i love this musical.

  • You know the person playing Aida can probably hit that because she did it for the end of Easy as Life. Maybe she just wanted to show power which is what this song is about.

  • My High School, Jordan-Elbridge, Just Finished This Play This Past Night And I Must Say It Is Filled With More Choreography Than This Group But The Vocals Were Much Better In This Performance. Grade Job.

  • i have been watching all these videos, and i am honestly kind of disappointed. if i may be critical, my high school performed this musical, and our choreography, vocals, and acting were far superior to this performance. i am from a fairly small city in indiana, so i was shocked when i heard how average the vocals were. the woman singing nehebka should have been aida for sure, and radamez's vocalist was far too nasaly. just trying to give constructive criticism, b/c all singers have potential.

  • Which city?

  • i must agree. our h.s. is doing this and we're ten times better so far

  • I love this performance. out of all the other ones.

I don't think my school can do better. I really love this song.

But we are only jr. high kids.

GREAT JOB! I LOVE IT. YOU GUYS DID GREAT.

  • i prefered nehebka's vocals opposed to aida's.

this was very good, i loved the dance. it fit well with the song and rythm and stuff :]

  • 1:09-1:38 is my favorite part in the whole play! it was done perfectly!!

  • awesome ..great choreo..Aida and ill keep sayin this coulda played with her character more, more bigger choices..the director should have had her running away from the crowd not just walking..but its still good entertainment.

  • She was shaky in the beginning but boy did she hit those last two high notes!

  • wat r u talking about? she didn't hit them at all. she sang a C but she was supposed to go up to the E.

u can actually hear nehebka hit it at the end for a sec. but Aida was only loud, she didnt have the range

  • that was amazing i loved it

  • Best choreo. I've seen on YouTube!

  • People should not be posting hate comments.

Clearly she knows her limits vocally and did not scream her way threw this song like many Aida's do.

it might not be Broadway but its still a respectable production

  • people, stop hating them. i don't think it's your place to criticize, especially if you're not professional. i think they did great

  • luv it!!!! nehebka has great vocals

  • ew that start is nasty i did way better i wish i could upload my vid but i can't lol

  • This production is great!

  • OMIGOD! The soloist with the robe is incredible.

  • i love the lighting at the end- its so dramatic :]

  • You guys, you think Tony Braxton hit the note when she was on Broadway...? Somebody is singing the note in the back (as harmony). What pissed me of was the fact that the girl was not connected to the character at all....

  • i liked toni braxtons vision. i saw it with her and it sound good live. she didnt hit the note but it wasnt someone bak stage tryna sing it 4 her

  • LMFAO HOW did theyt think they could get away with Aida NOT hitting that last note?!!

  • AINT THAT THE TRUTH!!!!!! i was pissed the fuck off wen i heard that!!! and it sounded like someone n the back tryed 4 a min....but failed!!!!

  • I applaud the directors and actress for recognizing that the note is extremely difficult to belt and modifying it. I would rather have a powerful belted C than a shaky, flat belt on a high F, or even worse, have the note be sung in head voice. The end of the song is in its POWER - not how high the note is. These are high school age students, not trained professionals who have had years of voice lessons so they are able to sing it with ease.

  • You make an excellent point, but instead of recognizing his limitations and admitting that the girl could not hit the note and leaving it out, the director thought he could just fool the audience. And we weren't fooled.

  • You knew the director's thought process? I have my doubts.

Having someone sing the higher note in the chorus is not trying to "fool the audience". It's having the note there in the background for the richness of sound, but in case the girl singing it does crack... well, it's in the harmony. It won't be as noticeable.

  • EXACTLY!!!!! that shit was bad. maby it was not noticed live but we can clearly hear it on here. i mean toni braxton didnt hit it either but she didnt have someone in the company try and cover it up.

  • Well we did this production last year At T.C. Williams High School and the girl who played Aida hit that high note with no problem. And we had her lifted in the air at the time. this girl sucks in all the songs and her voice has no power at all.

  • Well, that's great for her, but not everybody can belt that note, and belt it well. Especially not at a young age. And don't be so disresectful toward the girl playing Aida; she is certainly talented. Not being able to belt a high G doesn't mean she can't sing.

  • ok maby ive seen Aida or studied it to many times know that this girl is not in any way shape or form a good aida. i listend to all her songs and she dose not have the right kind of voice. its just not strong. and me being a Cappies critic can say SHE SUCKS!!! i would say that in my review because its true.

  • ur mean and i think she's great so post a vid of ur self singing this song and we'll prove 2 u that ur in no way in a position to b saying dat

  • umm...shut the hell up. im a guy first of all. but in any case im a tenor and i can belt that hight F with no problem.

  • I agree i was double-cast the role of Aida with a friend of mine and the director would have nothing less than the best. We had to do that high note and had to be left while singing it!! *funny Note* The robe was soo long that I tripped on it..going backstage.

  • your the one that hit the high F?

  • No i had to hit that note when my school (William Flemming) did the play last year.

  • yeha i mmean i aint trying to hate but its true no power or emotion. ive seen others do better. n as to FAEVERTE ther are girls at thsi age who can sing that high note with ease.

  • u know i was so liking her at first...then it came to da most important note of all and sumbody else hit it....nice cover up but NO...can't do dat...maybe da gurl who hit da note should have been aida....IDK>>>>>

  • omg..yea i agree

  • i've never seen an Aida in hot pink before....

  • LOLLLLL

  • RUDE! You don't just block someone for saying they don't like your play!

  • And i would APPRECTIATE it if you could actually reply to my comments because I just said i din't like one of your songs and you BLOCKED ME with and ATTITUDE! If you want to make it in this world you'd be nice to everyone and accept criticism. cause tjthedinorawr is a broadway casting director. I know. She casted me in many broadway musicals. jealous?

  • hey be nice to people cause your not gonna get respect unless your able to give it first

  • I DID give it and then Mattobonco blocked me.

  • well what di you say and what video it might have seemed you were being mean

  • I complimented his fortune favors the brave and then said "But the soldiers did dance like ballerina's kinda like ______ said. but other than that it was good." and he BLOCKED ME.

  • This choreography is good....but i am just gonna try to get Actor's Youth Theater's Aida on youtube when it comes on video to show you BROADWAY material.

  • ugh this aida has a good voice but SHE CANNOT sing. idk how to explain it. the way the words are coming out just gives me the chills. ugh

  • I agree, she kind of sounds like she's whinning and it is so wrong for this part. Aida is supposed to be strong, and besides she sounds like she is trying to be too soulful, it's kinda gross!!

  • i love the harmony at the end

    GREAT!!!!

  • wow everything about that was amazing! ezpecially the choreography!

  • The guy who played Mereb really held the chorus together either that or just stuck out too much. Aida was great!

  • best ive ever seen.

    hands down.

  • APPROVED BY THE ANGEL OF MUSIC

  • yeah have to agree was in the mtyp wichita one and liked the fast paced one better but this was really good too

  • um...wow..The Aida here's phenominal. Loooove the choreography in this as well. Big win from me =D

  • great... accually awesome -send them all to broadway!!

  • very clever to have someone hit the E off stage and still have her hit the power note onstage, it worked very well. great rendition

  • I like this very much. This is very good!

  • Good Lord! That was frickin amazing!! I've seen many videos on youtube of Aida to compare to the Broadway version and this is by far the best I've seen. Beautiful!

  • omg i loved the dance break! we had to do ours in unison =[ looks great =]

  • i just saw this done at mtyp wichita and they took it a bit faster. i kinda liked it better like that. it seemed more intense.

  • one of the hardest songs... Gen u captured it

  • I absolutley love this song!!!

My high school did this musical this year and ever since I've been in love with it!
