anyone that thinks thom overreacted...you are the ones overreacting. he said it was nobodies business, the interviewer was not entitled to an answer, it was a personal question and thom did not want to answer it. simple as that...you move on to the next question then, the interviewer was being a jackass.
"its nobody's business" there, crystal clear. he didnt overreact, it was the interviewers fault for pressing the question, a question that wasnt so important that he had to keep pressing it. Thom told him to shut the fuck up because he needed to shut the fuck up, case closed.
I disagree. I don't think that Thom had overreacted. Sometimes when you want to stand your ground over a certain subject, certainly if it's personal, you have to bark at the scavengers to let them know that this is your part of the highway. Otherwise they will keep coming back.
@6sixsick Well, the thing is the band was at the point of an emotional break-up at this point, and so Thom Yorke was feeling really bummed out, because he took all the blame onto himself. But yeah, the rest of what you said I agree with.
why would you ask a front man if he ever thought of quiting the band and going solo? what an arsehole. if it werent on camera i would of hit the cunt!
Wow , towards the end of this part thom yorke flashes a hand signal on his face and points his eyes towards it and goes "you know what i mean" 2:20-2:24
but that's the thing, we dont NEED to know about the band's difficulties or anything, they're amazing musicians, and we've become fans of Radiohead because of their MUSIC, not the way they get along with each other or anything, the interviewer just wants to get stuff out of him to create gossip just like it happens with the more "popular" bands. That's what I love about Radiohead, they play music, and that's all you know about them. That's how it should be. Long live Radiohead.
Totally agreed. But I think Thom kinda overreacted here, honestly. I thought all the f*ck was kind of unecessary. I love Radiohead, but he could have handled this a little bit more professional.
No, as he stated after the first question about band issues "its nobody's business" yet the interviewer pushed another question like that, i would have done the exact same thing.
its obvious he doesnt want to mention the problems he may have with the others in the band because if he mentions anythng and the press spins it it may cause problems between them.
Ok, did the interviwer believed that he was Tom York's shrink or something ? . Only close people can ask that to anyone. He was, trying to act smart, and he came across as the worst interviewer ever .
The thing is, if you watch the whole interview, you can see that Thom's being really honest and giving a good account of himself. However, there comes a point where he wants to draw the line, and what's wrong with that? We all have to stop giving of ourselves at some point, when it starts to feel uncomfortable. I think he deserves respect for taking that stance.
I think it's a form of disrespect to ask such personal questions. Don't you think Thom's life is enough known by everybody ? Could he have a bit of privacy ? Thom has gone through difficult periods with the band, and asking that question was not necessary. But in some other way, he's been rude. If I was the interviewer I'd have bursted into tears. But, I mean, this guy must not be a radiohead fan to be such an ignorant...
But you only know of the band's difficulties through questions like these. And, in the end, Thom made his solo album and it helped find a new direction vocally for "In Rainbows". I think he's a good interviewer.
good interview, great answers. cant blame the the guy for asking those questions but neither can you blame anyone for setting boundaries in what they want to discuss.
why the hell should he answer such a question. it really isn't anyone elses business. the interviewer is the one that kept pressing with it. and by the way he did answer the questions, he just didn't go into specifics. the only twat here is you.

i love all the radiohead fans saying thoms great and the interviews shit, thom wont answer his questions and that makes thom fell very big and clever, why would you go to and interview and not answer the questions....and the questions where basic but not bad......you radiohead fans are sheep "thoms great" great music not great man
Would you prefer that he did tell the world about problems he's having with his bandmates and whether he's ever considered quitting Radiohead? I would think less of him if he did.
thom is right to get pissed off here. I guess radiohead are like a family, since they've been together since their schooldays and are a very close band. so I suppose trying to get thom to talk about difficult times in the band isnt too far off from asking the interviewer to explain to the world why he's going through a rough patch with his wife.
i think that was very polite of him to ask the interviewer to move on instead of revealing persoal things or just bullshitting him. i thought it was part of the job, you know if you're an interviewer, to just go along with what your subject asks or what they feel like talking about if anything
cheers to thom for making it clear that this interviewer will be backing off on his stupid gossipy line of questioning. <3 thom. it is your business and no one else's.
what a pity that we cannot see interwiever's face, i wnat to see how he react on thom's behaviour, thom is tough!!! keep like this, interwiever is looooooser and want to get his maybe big nose not into his business...
Fair play to thom, the interviewer is trying to focus on all the negatives and wants to dig up bad gossip because thats makes a great story according to the media. This interviewer should work for heat. Beware of camera men trying to take pictures of down your top Thom!
"but have you ever had the idea of..."
the interviewer just completely ignored thom.

The interviewer tried to get an answer out of him, fair enough. He finally asks why not and Thom gives him a straight answer. Fair enough.
But then he keeps insisting? Thom made it clear. It's not him being moody, just becoming pissed off by irritating persistance.
