my buddy had a problem like this on his GSX....his idle was a little worse it would go from normal to almost 2k....i think the problem was a vacum line leak maybe look into that
@ryansatmcc replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, and car is back to norm.. The existing IAC was badly corroded and stuck. Thank you for your valuable input.
Another thought, check the EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). If it is stuck open, that can also cause a lean idle mix throwing off the O2 sensors. It really depends on what the code(s) say. Keep me in the 'loop', please.

@boomlightsout I tried 1/3 of the can of seafoam via the vacuum line.. the idle was still rough.. replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, and car is back to norm.. The existing IAC was badly corroded and stuck. Thank you for your valuable input.
I had a same problem with one of my old car. It could be a blocked radiator or broken radiator ,if the temperature rise so quickly. Also check the water hose too.

This was a big problem in modified older cars (ie carbureted), it was called idle surge or hunting. the Idle mix was too lean. In a fuel injected car, since it overheated, I would look into the oxygen sensor(s) or an 'Idle Air Solenoid' (different manufacturors call it different things, but it does the same job) getting stuck either open or closed. Since the check engine light comes on the computer is setting a code.
@nggdsb so true.. good suggestions my friend.. replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, and car is back to norm.. The existing IAC was badly corroded and stuck. Thank you for your valuable input.
could be an ignition problem. My '89 camaro was doing that to compensate for poor sparking. Turned out to be the distributor rotor that was worn. Does your car have a distributor, or does it have those new individual coils? If you have a distributor , it's fairly simple and cheap to change the rotor, distributor cap, wires and sparkplugs. If you have the coils, probably better to diagnose it for sure before you change out any parts.

I had same problem, the idler thing was changed in ur car, u need to get a new part where the idle on the engine goes or adjust the tension, its probably too tight, u need a longer wire for the idle, its not a big problem, just gotta tweak it a bit
@djkkt52 replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, and car is back to norm.. The existing IAC was badly corroded and stuck. Thank you for your valuable input.
really wish i had something to suggest... but i've never seen that... seems like some weird ECM problem to me... but hope someone will have a useful comment...
@todkapuz thanks my friend.. I'm going to post this vid on some forums to see if anyone else has see this problem, and hopefully there's a DIY fix for this.. I love this car too much to let her go.

@tigerpause444 The IAC is a common issue. However, I am very glad to help you out.

It might the battery that's the problem, it could be taken most of the power to start up the car but I'm not sure on that

try running the seafoam into the vacuum line going directly into the intake manifold.. and not the gas tank.. use about a 1/3 of the can ..
this takes 2 people..
boomlightsout 1 month ago
@boomlightsout just for the vacum line??
mrchoppaboy 1 month ago
@mrchoppaboy well since im assuming he already put a can into the gas tank, yes just the vacuum line
when i did my car i used 1/3 can vacuum line, 2/3 gas tank
and used another half can into the engine oil.. of course i changed the oil +filter within 500 miles
boomlightsout 1 month ago
@boomlightsout i mean why does it take 2 people?? i saw it done with only one before

@mrchoppaboy oh, well to keep the revs up otherwise itll stall
