@jossmartins - As I have said elsewhere, many users cannot get used to using Comodo with Defense+, so it's also about offering alternatives that work. There is no 100% security solution, but layers of protection can reduce the risks and as always, users need to make informed choices as to what works for them. Pleased that you have OA installed, good firewall which I have on one of my machines :-)
I'm not being biased but, based on all of the reviews I've watched and all of the research I've done, if you were to go for a HIPS product, go for Comodo. It just doesn't let ANYTHING through. Not even the temp files. Nothing is 100% safe but Comodo is 99.99% safe.
If you hate Comodo for some odd reason or you just hate a HIPS product then go for Sandboxie. Also 99.99% safe. Just remember to do a secure delete when emptying the Sandbox or system restore will back up the deleted contents.
I apologize for the super late reply Joss. Secure delete as you said, is a privacy option. Half true.
Secure delete shreds the sandboxed contents. If you do not shred the contents when deleting the sandbox, system restore WILL kick in and back them up to the system restore points.
Therefore, if you secure delete sandboxed contents, system restore will not be able to back them up to the restore points even if system restore is enabled.
@4DarkAces - Safer option is to create clean ghost images monthly and NOT use System Restore. But as we know, users just aren't going to do that so we have to try and help them along the way with methods that work and secure deletion in sandboxie you covered well in your video :-)
@4DarkAces - The biggest problem is that many users 'follow the crowd' and need to be educated as to what works better and how to use it effectively. Sadly, many leave this until it is too late and the damage is done, then they start to learn :-)
I think geswall did a pretty good job.. would be a good Security add on for any additional Security you presently have.. and on top of that.. those infections were local. They didn't get to the registry or the heart of windows where they could have done serious damage.
@TEHuglyMonst3R - I agree, the important aspect is that the registry was unaffected, and to be fair, I installed more in one session than the average user would do in a year, but it's a worthwhile test and Geswall did what it was supposed to do and the remnants were easily cleared up too :-)
@jossmartins - Thanks Jose. A lot of users cannot get used to using Sandboxie, so this is a good alternative. As 4DarkAces has also said, Comodo is a better option but users do need a little knowledge :-)
I been using this hips program for a while and I never had a infection, and I am a avid gamer and downloader.

I've checked Sandboxie forums and FAQ and found out that "secure delete" is only a privacy option, not a security one (tzuk own words).
Sorry to hijack your channel cotojo.
P.S. I finally manage to install OA free and up to now I'm happy with it. There was a funny issue with utorrent but this is not the right place.
Hope to hear from you again soon cotojo.

It's true that a HIPS like Comodo's Defense+ is terribly effective. But it is also a hassle and very difficult to work with for the average user.
I gave it up and stayed with the FW only, along with MSE, WinPatrol and WOT.
And when I'm not sure I just open the browser with Sandboxie, wich has the great advantage of being ever so simple.

@4DarkAces What do you mean "secure delete"? I only have two delete options in my Sandboxie: either manual or automatic when I close the browser.

Yup! And the softwares you showed us in your previous videos like Returnil and Comodo Time Machine should do a good job! =D

Wonderful video. Thanks cotojo.
The fact that some apps were left doesn't give you much confidence.
I think I prefer Sandboxie, it's much simpler to use and (maybe?) more effective.
It's a shame you're always short on time. Keep up the good work.
