yeah but you said round up to 400. there are two 400's in 900 so you wrote 0.02. What about the 100 left over? That is bugging me. surely you cant just allow 100 to be floating around the place!!
I'm 21and it's not that we didn't learn it at school,it just that I completely forgot this stuff because I started using calculator since 8th grade.I'm so glad I live in age of internet.Now,I don't have to embarrass myself.
Today, I was asked by some primordal bog"you're not one of those idiots that sit in front of their computer with the internet all night long?"and I said "afraid so""last night I was taking bus rides around the streets of Paris and New york and London with youtube, watching doco's on SBS au.tonight I'll think I'll go and stand on top of Mt Everest and after that I'll go and learn long division,maybe have a look at the surface of Mars aswell"
Thank you! I'm 30 yrs old and taking a board next week in administering local anesthesia and we have to calculate the maximum recommended dose to be administered for different drugs according to a person's weight. I found out we can not use calculators! I can't remember the last time I have done math without one and needed a crash course. This was perfect!

wow! this is pretty easy now, thanks. 8 by 7 is 0.875. btw I like the 'no borrowing vid' too. Subtraction wise, I find it mentally quicker to just see like: how many away is 596 from 787? Starting from hundreds.
thanks man! im in sixth grade and my science class is seriously pissing me off!!! this saved my ass on a test. i have to find the density of all this stuff and its almost always dividing shit like this.
i do have a problem with this concept because doing 5/7 using your description(puttin the zero and the decimal point where they should be) would be to make the 5 a 50 and divide 7 but we then approximate 7 to 10. Then divide 50 by 10 which would be 5 givin a result of 0.5.... But at this point I have to note that, there a problem because 50 divied by 7 should be 7 giving a result of 0.7... . In the end the result would be wrong. I guess the app works for some and not the others
@tittobs007 ur an idiot, it doesnt tell you to approximate EVERY time, he only approximated this because either way if u divide by 400 or 379 it would still result in a 2.
i'm a 31 yr old phd student. i completely blanked when i came across a problem in my Epi class that requires this kind of division. thanks for the refresher math teacher :) you made my day;)
lmao i am 20 and i am having trouble with long division thanks a tonne man i really owe you, working on my GeD hopefully i can pick this up fast enough =)
I never solved a division problem since grade school & I wanted to refresh everything for an important entrance exam. Glad i found your video, very well explained. Thank you! =)

i got lost after that 379 to 400
Arnold34251 7 months ago
why make 379 400???????????
femmzoil 8 months ago in playlist math videos, (sigh)
@femmzoil Well 379 doesn't fit 3 times into 900 so you're still going to put down a 2!

You should tell your students that they won't be allowed calculators on their AP exams!
Ever since Algebra I, we've been allowed to use calculators, so I've completely forgotten how to do everything, except lattice...
