Who the fuck said Sonata are boring and sound the same, ok maybe Unia was but everything before that is AMAZING, dragonforce now they are a band who has written the same album 4 times and it was only good once.

Edguy and by association Avantasia are amound the best bands going, period. Doesn't matter what specific genre they play its amazing everytime, I would probably rank edguy as no.2 power metal band with Firewind coming in at no.1

@Evil0Ghost Yeah they are good, but they haven't really done anything amazing in a while have they. I would add in Blind Guardian though, they are still going strong and live anyway they are better than ever.

That 'ranking' is far from complete anyway, I just think edguy are one of the best bands going.

Edguy is one of the few modern Power Metal bands that isn't insanely boring. Edguy has that old school feel to it.

Bands like Sonata Arctica, or Dragon Force. It's all cheesy and always sounds the same.

Edguy is interesting, unpredictable and they rock.
