Seriously, if Harper was concerned so much about security at the G 8 summit, why didn't he had it hoasted at a rural location, like a giant lodge in the middle of the woods beside a real lac? Sure the military would have to be camping around the area with helicopters flying above, but it would have costed a lot less then doing it in big urban Toronto with police , snipers and road blocks everywhere. That idea itself would have saved most of the money they spent, not to mention show our wildlife.
It's misleading but correct in it's overzelous cost in this time of economic uncertainty. But why did the last two summits such as the Pittsburgh one, only cost $20million.
It's about time the damn Liberals grew a pair and started coming after Harper and his CONServatives for all their crappy policies... I voted Conservative once... never again...
Look this ad is stating facts that many apathetic canadians either cannot or do not want to see. I do not generally support attack ads but this instance pales in comparison to the ATTACK ads of the conservatives. This is merely a good poke at the Tories and as such, Bravo Grits!
If you only do one thing then your judged harshly. It is Harper's fault he has failed to reform anything for 2 minirity governments. Now he will be difined as a man who knows how to throw a party!
I'm not a Liberal or a Conservative in any way, but I'm glad these kind of issues are getting talked about. I remember, a while ago, the Conservatives put out an ad bashing Iganteiff because he spent some time in England. Their tagline was "Iganteiff: Just visiting".
All I could think of was, "THIS is what our government cares about?? THIS is how campaign money is spent??"
This $1 billion for G20 is ridiculous, and I hope people hold Harper accountable for the money he wastes.
@BearBee44 before judgement is made, let's see the result of the $ spent. Why judge the race before it is finished? Compalining in this forum is typical, it serves no purpose, Candainas do not want to tell their elected officials what they think, they are scared so they would rather compalin on these sites or to their friends HOPING THEY will so something. Grow some, tell you politiians what you think, then you have the right to complain AND it will make you feel so much better.
This ad is a little misleading. The total cost of 2 summits putting Canada on the world stage is $1 billion. The "fake lake" in the Pavilion is nowhere near that amount... but Liberals have never been known to fans of logic.
So? It's the sentiment which counts just like those british MPs who used public money to have their manor moats dredged it won't break the economy, but it's a bloody good waste of money especially that we ain't short of real lakes in Canada... And if the conservatives are more logical than the liberals(which your post implies unless your pro bloc or ndp) then why are you allowing the pollution of our great land with the tar sands and their extraction?
@rebelyell1983x Agreed, but that could have been accomplished without spending almost $2 million to create an artificial indoor lake and cottage backdrop...
It's not just the Fake Lake- How about the Fake Government?
This has been one of the least productive sessions in Parliamentary History. the Cons have passed very little in the way of new legislation, opting to stonewall & disrupt parliament , treating it & most Cdns as if they were the 'enemy'...
...an enemy with deep pockets to finance their waste!
