i do want to know what he said because what he's said will be what i am going to take quizzes on August 1th, 2011 anyone who are good at English can help me? pleaseeeeeeeee
@desasterz this is about British CULTURAL STUDIES, an academic tradition which indeed has concerned itself with British culture but is not limited to it. I take it your comment was a personal jibe, irrelevant to the vid. Nonetheless the question of whether a culture is a "Joke" does come into the topic.
I guess you either have to be an author, or a professor if you decide to make this your major. Or, wait for the next big swing in cultural development.
The link between culture and establishment dogma is closely linked in Britain. If we take New Labour as an example, they have gone to great lengths to subliminally introduce a new cultural identity that fits in with their goal of a multicultural society - through such mediums as education and the media. But such radical and dramatic change to the traditional British cultural axioms has fractured the social equilibrium to an extent where British culture has no -
Thanks, these little lectures are great: out there on the internet for anyone to come and watch, and informative while also easy to follow. There are far too resources around to explain these sorts of ideas simply to the idiot beginner.
this is great, you're a pioneer in free learning! if we as a society have any desire to move towards a higher state, education for learning and expanding our horizons need to be made for everyone. knowledge is should be free!
As a British cultural studies student its interesting to see how Americans look at what is every day knowledge to us...keep it up!! its nice that someone is prepared to take the time out to help undergraduates with tackling theory!!! Its more difficult than it looks!!!
This is an excellent video like all of your others, thank you for taking the time to create these. I am very interested in the work of Stuart Hall not only in his analysis of race as a floating signifier but his three interpretive positions of a reader to a text: dominant, negotiated and oppositional... very interesting work I believe. Thanks again.
Thank you for this compact introduction!

Wonderful.
I'm studying at what used to be this department and still find it difficult to justify cultural studies as an individual discipline.
