St John is cut out of the same cloth as Salerno Sonnenberg. The performanve is so full of tricks and ego - I just hope it's sincere and not just for show. Compare this to Gitlis playing the Saint Saenz Rondo.

What's the difference between "sincere" and "for show", and how would you know when you saw it? Maybe she should just do the same things that every other great violinist before her has done, and violin playing can become even more boring and irrelevant than it already is. I don't understand why people believe that doing exactly what everyone did before, in exactly the same way, is a good thing. She's phenomenally musical, we should be grateful personalities like hers and sonnenberg's exist.
