  • Giving it another try... pleeeeeeease let it work! =(

  • 11.29.06

Eemma. It stops after a minute or two and then it starts again by itself. Just let it start up again on its own. Don't press anything. I sent up a lot of film and it takes a minute or so after it stops the first time before it gets going again. The same is true for the same film on myspace.

I hope that you have a GREAT week, Emma!

Eemma. Did it work? Gaaaaaahhhhhh! I hope that it works this time, my friend. Be patient and I'm sure that it'll work. :)

Eemma. OMG! I don't see your last comment either! Oh dear. I will have to inform the Google YouTube immediately about this. This is AWFUL! Your comments are extremely valuable to me and we can't have this happening at these rare and precious moments during our GYT experience. I heard that this has been happening frequently with others as well.

Eemma. Thank you for trying an alternate route of making your observations known by just going directly to my channel and posting your response there. You have a lot of initiative, I see. You don't let ONE closed door stop you from achieving your goals. You definitely keep trying and trying. Very Nice, Eemma!

  • Actually my lil brother was a jerk and posted this. I think its really a pretty damn good piece of work bro, and I enjoyed it. Keep making more and im sorry for his immature remarks.

  • 11.29.06

Chocolatetown. I am happy that you were able to see some of my work. This was the first ^^test^^ and we were learning on the fly, so to speak, about the camera, lights, and sound, about us as actors and now we are learning about our audiences' tastes and requirements on a global basis.

    "cat"

  • The audio sucks, im 13 minutes into this and I see absolutely NO plot. The dialogue is just garbage. I mean dude, I appreciate you taking the time to make something and are trying to be a filmmaker, but I seriously would rather watch the movie "glitter" than this. I mean get to the point!

  • 11.30.06

Chocolatetown. I agree about the audio. The lighting leaves a lot to be desired as well. These are tests. Tests for sound, acting, camera, sound, audience and the whole ball of wax. Thank goodness you didn't have to pay for any of it and you get to watch all of these ^^tests^^ for free. :) I have the distinct feeling that 2007 will be quite different.

BakoooolisbackLOL. KEWL! Thank you. I got a kick out of being in front of the camera. I usually shy away from having my picture taken.

  • Friend, I have too much difficulty to hear the dialogues, and so, to understand...

    :o(

  • 11.28.06

PolaScalzo. I understand. I will show "Prelude: Hum Harper," soon. The dialog is much better in that ONE.

At least you were present for the visuals, Pola. :)

Capo420420. Congratulations on making the "Best of YouTube!"

    "cat"

  • A bit too long, so had to watch in 3 installments LOL!

You are the master for sure and your characters very real and intriguing. Brilliant work!!!

  • 11.25.06

Sportiboy. I have 5 or 6 that are an hour apiece in length. I had intended to run them in film festivals. I might run "NOBEL ASSISTANT," in its full length of 50 minutes. After that, I will quarter the ones so that you won't have to sit through more than 15 minutes at a time. I am sorry about the length of this one. Thank you very much for your patience. I had only intended to show 3 minutes or less segments and now look...

    "cat"

  • 11.28.06

Sportiboy. You are too kind. I am but a humble servant of my projects and the people who volunteered to help me actualize them.

    "cat"

  • You are indeed humble "cat" which is why you're such a good and loyal friend. Your work is of such that it inspires creativity and an inspirational gift to YouTube and community. Keep those projects coming!

  • 11.30.06

Sportiboy. I have approximately 24 hours of edited footage, Sportiboy. I have been experimenting with compressing the longer pieces so that they can be uploaded in a reasonable time. I am leaning towards segmenting them so that they don't take up an hours worth of viewing time. I have something called, "She Showers," which should be fairly intriguing because it is not quite what one expects. I should upload that one next week.

    "cat"

  • 11.30.06

Sportiboy. That was one of my purposes in making these. I wanted to establish a Market for an older Afro-American male and a cross-cultural group of ensemble actors and develop interest in an ongoing fashion of their adventures, lives, how they live, etc.

Capo420420. Thank you, kind sir. I enjoyed our long distance talk the other night. I am waiting with bated breath for the CD from North Carolina. Both actors were ^^capturing one another^^ I felt. Throughout this experience, it became unclear to me whether she was chasing me, or I was chasing her. The test of the pudding is whether we got good material onscreen. I believe that we did. I am looking forward eagerly to working with Odile Pari again.

  • Hey Cat...good stuff you have here. Some of the audio was a little difficult to decifer, but overall very entertaining. Great conversation near the end. Loved the guy who made the embryo joke lol.:) Interesting chime work there too. Take care and keep up the great work.

  • 11.24.06

Audio seems to be the story of my life, in addition to the lack of music. I made the corrections to the audio problem by connecting with a friend who loans me 2 sennheiser radial wireless microphones. Sound should not be much of a problem in the future, although it is a major aggravation to me on these 24 hours of footage, or so, that I will upload anyway. "HUM," should be fine, audio wise in 2007.

  • 11.25.06

Stefaneedee. Well, my friend. Since you put it so nicely, I may as well keep my subscription after all. Having seen your last video, I was sorely tempted to do the opposite. Luckily for me I quickly came to my senses. [0]

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

Stefaneedee. The fella who made the embryo joke is an accomplished novelist, producer and soon to be director. I directed his first feature film "The Backyard," in 2003. I also completely rewrote 5 of his scripts. He is from the Ivory Coast in West Africa. He used my sister, Marian, as the star of his 1st feature film and used her songs as well. I am waiting to see how the editing of his pictures are coming along. :)

    "cat"

  • Don't have much time to watch the full 54 minutes but from what i have seen is very special indeed & the story is piecing itself together quite nicely!!!

  • 11.24.06

Understood, NoscriptsV2. Anytime that you can view them will be more than fine with me. I need some more of Nero's pronouncements of being here. :)

  • 11.25.06

NoscriptsV2. I just flew in from Scotland. :) I viewed the winter scenes of your latest video. The highest village in Scotland was quite nice. I still plan to go to Scotland at some point since you have brought the beauty and genuine charm to my attention of the villages there.

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

NoscriptsV2. Thank you very much, kind sir. I saw the latest video that you posted about the highest village in Scotland. I was suitably and pleasantly dumbfounded. It is indeed a quaint and charming place. I wonder how many people live in the village covered with snow at the moment.

NoscriptsV2. I didn't realize that you knew how to speak French. I would like to become more proficient in the language; however, I rarely see French speakers. They usually come to Hollywood during the summer. Of course I would need someone who stays longer than a day or so, or a couple of hours to polish my language skills. :)

    "cat"

  • This all feels so natural, likeI'm witnessing it in the neighborhood; your characters are believable; sometimes I felt like I was nearby; the sound varied quite a bit from scene to scene - on purpose?? There's a section at about 22:17 (before and aft) that was completely devoid of sound, the sounds picks up again about 24:45; I loved the soft section where Mr. T was quietly reviewing the photos: it's good to see this all coming together! You've got some neat video effect in there, too.

  • 11.24.06

This is the same feeling that I had of ^^naturalness^^ MotherReiver. I never had the feeling that we were acting so much as being. That, ideally is what I always try to achieve. I didn't run sound at the Market with Chester Whitmore and his son, C.J. I picked up my tapes of "Arsonist and Commanda" that I had loaned Whitmore. Thank you very much, MotherReiver. You notice that I added the interview minus the distracting sound effects?

    "cat"

  • I sure did; I think your project is coming along very nicely; the silent portions broughtmy attention to full focus; great job!

  • 11.25.06

MotherReiver. There are a few more films that I'll post that have sound problems. There are a completely new series, starting with "Prelude: Hum Harper," that are hearable. Afterwards, the borrowing of 2 Sennheiser microphones enables me to record audio that is generally clear, crisp and understandable. Thank you, MotherReiver. 2007 should be a good year as well as the years that follow in terms of further mastering of my craft after these ^^test runs.^^

    "cat"

  • 11.30.06

MotherReiver. I discovered that the batteries only last for 4 hours. We had been running them for 8 hours. Next time we will not do that. There are still a few projects where the sound is awful but the successive films should have sparklingly clear audion. Thank goodness!

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

MotherReiver. I liked the street level, eye level point of view, or perspective. I noticed this technique in the Italian Neo-Realistic cinema of the 1960's as exemplified by Bresson in the films "Open City," and "The Bicycle Thief," as well as the American director Charles Burnett's "Killer of Sheep," and his "My Brother's Wedding."

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

MotherReiver. The batteries in the transmitters for the sound ran out and we didn't realize this. There was no sound during the wandering across the parking lot with Chester Whitmore and his son, C.J. Whitmore. Chester had just directed his Opus One Big Band in Leimert Park, a rather famous gathering spot for artists in Los Angeles. Thanx.

Two of the actresses I used in a few of the films that I made. The really attractive ONE in the middle I tried my darnedest to get but her agent said that she was doing a play in New York. I am happy with the actresses that were in the picture. The other ONE would have been icing on the cake, so to speak.

    "cat"

  • 11.30.06

MotherReiver. The cellophane over the lens should have been stretched tightly over the lens itself. Instead, it was placed further out and you can see the wrinkle. It is o.k. on the small screen but a larger screen might be distracting. These are all **tests** so it was fine.

    "cat"

  • Yes, I have there is quite a difference in what the bigscreen will show versus the little screen; you have a discerning eye!

  • I also have only seen the first ten minutes or so, up to the hotel discussion, but so far absolutley captivating, I'm sorry to have to leave! I will be back to watch the rest though and give you a full report! -m

  • 11.24.06

MurrWes. I hope that your Thanksgiving was Superb! I will wait with a certain eagerness for your full report. I must apologize for making this so long. I very easily could have broken this into 4 manageable slices. Next time I shall do just that and it will be "Nobel Blues" in 4 parts of about 15 or so minutes apiece.

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

MurrWes. Thank you very much. I await, with ^^bated breath^^ your insightfully accurate observations and all of your reports.

  • just making my way through....im at about ten minutes in. IM LOVING IT, by the way. Your voice, is so, intoxicating. It spins a spell Mr T :)

  • 11.24.06

Adrienne. ElunedLotr thought that it sounded like velvety smooth chocolate. :) I used my voice to caress each word and moment with my actress.

    "cat"

  • 11.30.06

ElunedLOTR said that my voice reminded her of rich, dark coffee. I erred about the chocolate. My memory must be failing me. :)

    "cat"

  • 11.24.06

I did the voice intentionally, although I lost my focus later. This was the first time that I had been before the camera since 1999 when I made "Arsonist & Commanda." I deliberately had 1 or 2 lines in that flick. In this one, I had a lot to become a part of me. I liked my readings at this particular point inside the room with Odile in the chair. Maybe I'll come up with "the intoxicator." :)

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

Adrienne. THANK YOU ! You have made my day and this day is Saturday, November 25, 2006 my youngest sister Marian's birthday, so I shall remember your kind words forever and then some. I am such an intoxicator. chuckle. :)

  • 11.28.06

She said my voice sounded like rich, dark coffee. **smiles humbly as he drinks another gallon of Yuban rich Columbian coffee.**

    "cat"

  • where are my bloomin comments?! arghhhhh!

  • 11.24.06

Adrienne. Thank you very much for mentioning Thomas in your last video. I was on the phone with Borders ordering Gustav Mahler's 10th Symphony when I heard my name being mentioned. I was ^^shocked^^ I almost swallowed the mouthpiece. :) Just kidding.

    Thank you again, my friend.

    "cat"

  • ehehhee :) that's funny. I''m so excited that you're ordering the 10th symphony! Nice to see you liked it that much to buy it, a pleasure to have reminded you it :)

  • 11.28.06

Adrienne. I bought it the same night that you gave the Shout Out to ??1027. I've been listening to it for the past 2 or 3 days. It is as great as you said.

    "cat"

  • 11.30.06

Adrienne. Yes, it is truly a pleasure to listen to and also to realize who recommended it. I had no problem getting it although it was the last copy that Borders had. I am happy that I got the last CD. It is magnificent. That is the best that I can say about it. It is also filled with surprises and wonder. Thank you, Adrienne!

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

Adrienne. I listened to Gustav Mahler's 10 Symphony as this video played last night. It adds so much to the visuals. I would love to have a score like that in my films in the future. Now, I better see about getting a deep pocketed financier who would enable me to do that. :)

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

I am wondering what happened to mine as well. I was sure that I answered this yesterday, but, I still don't see them. arghhhhh!

    Thomas

  • 11.30.06

Adriennne. Where have you been for the past few days? I am beginning to worry about you. EmilyElzbth mentioned that you had removed your videos, yet they are still up. What is up?

    "cat"

  • veni vedi vici, I'll have to make time for this soon !!

  • 11.24.06

Please do, Mr. Dudeanwalker. This might be the last time that I'll ever run something this long. I had made a firm determination to come in at 3 min. or less and then, BAM! This is way too long. I must cut it in fourths.

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

Dudeanwalker. I have another of 50 minutes that you might also want to set aside some time for, "NOBEL ASSISTANT." You won't have to do this after that since I'll truncate the 5 or 6 others that approach the hour mark. Whenever you can view them is fine. I am happy that you are present as always.

    "cat"

  • 11.28.06

Dudeanwalker. Sorry I could easily have broken them all apart, my friend.

    "cat"

  • 11.30.06

Dudeanwalker. Actually, I have 4 or 5 other films that are almost as long as this one. I am debating whether I should truncate them into 4 segments. I am leaning heavily toward doing that. I know how long my own attention span is and I certainly realize that there are other things to do rather than look at a film that is almost an hour in length, even if it is my own. :)

    "cat"

  • I couldn't take my eyes off of the screen. The conversation, though somewhat lighthearted was so intense. Your character is so intimidating in an obscure sort of way....while retaining a facet of amicability. My intrigue mounts.

  • 11.23.06

Celestialsam. This was my first bit of acting since I left UCLA film school. I changed the quality and tone of my voice to seem somewhat imperious with Odile. I did not stay in character with it later, as you will notice with "Nobel Blues." I like how you described me as "intimidating in an obscure sort of way." Good observation, Celestialsam.

    "cat"

  • 11.24.06

Celestialsam. I intentionally changed the natural rhythms, tones and quality of my voice. I wanted a wholly different personna. After all, this is when I had won the Nobel Prize for 4 straight years. The lady has come to visit and see through my eyes. Very good observations, Sam.

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

Sam. I spoke with Sebastian Dehi last night. He is in the editing process of "The Backyard," a film that I directed for him that he Exec. Produced in 2003. I have 2 scenes in that picture that I acted in as well. Stephanie Jeffrey & David Fluker, the stars of that flick, are in the 2 scenes with me and, I must admit, I more than ^^held my own^^ vs. two fine actors in a comical role. I play **Coach Thomas.** It should be ready soon in a month or so.

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

Now you see the actor in me come into play. Just wait for another 3 or 4 years, if I can wait that long, Sam. :)

    Thomas

  • The feeling is mutual, I assure you;)

  • What he said! Dickens123 was here!

  • 11.28.06

Dickens123, you say. "Ever the best of friends, ain't us Ms. Haversham?" Charles Dickens.

    "cat"

  • First of all, your comments are all screwed up by YT! I commented on someone else's comment! It showed up in the wrong place. In spite of this , I have "great expectations " for your work!!! THat is the bottom line!

  • 11.30.06

Dickens123. thank you sir. So, too do I.

    "cat"

  • I am definitely not a sir!!!

  • Amazing. Nearly 55 minutes? You're the master of compression, Thomas.

Previously seen snippets are making more and more sense as the work emerges.

I don't know what the finished edit will look like, but thus far the pace seems languid. A very relaxed way to tell a story. I like it. The characters are believeable and there is unmistakeable chemistry between them.

  • 11.24.06

Urgelt. There was unmistakenable chemistry between Odile and myself when she first tried out for a small role in "The Backyard," a feature mini digital film that I directed for Sebastian Dehi in the long, hot summer of 2003. It is still there even though she is now in Germany. She is eager to return to continue her acting adventures. The pacing is this way because I did not do coverage. We used one camera. Next time, 3 or 4 cameras running simultaneously would be fine.

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

Urgelt. I compressed "NOBEL ASSISTANT" last night. It is 50 minutes. It is another version that I would like for you to view should you elect to do so at its existing length. After that, I will always aim to truncate these films for GYT. I know that 3 minutes or less is great because there are many other things to do and see. In this vein, I am happy that you were able to view this in its entirety, Urgelt. Much appreciation and even more so for the first review and ^^look see.^^

    "cat"

  • 11.25.06

I have a few more versions that I would like for you to view and comment upon. This is great training with these ^^ test runs ^^ The testing is ongoing, Urgelt. I doubt that they will ever cease. I am somewhat like Gustav Mahler as far as uncompleted works. he. he.
