Hi my bf has been taking humira for chrones colitis and I was wondering if there was something I could do to comfort him. I know this may sound selfish and I hope that someone is there to comfort you too, and if you ever need someone to listen to you can talk to me.
All I would like to know is who the sick sob that named it GO LIGHTLY that is one sick sense of humour.
Talk to your local ostomy association go see them in person don't wait until your so sick you have no choice don't wait until the steroids eat your bones, wreck you skin, mood wing you until you think you losing your mind ,not to mention the hump on your back and all that wonderful swelling. Did i mention pain and bloating? Don't waste another second go see your local ostomy association !
Go lightly was a god send try Citromag makes go lightly taste like heaven. The answer is up to YOU! You have to ask you self is what is an acceptable quality of life.
the only known cure ulcerative colitis is an ileostomy. If you think that the stuff you are going through is a good life up down waiting for the next flare up not so much fun. I would strongly urge anyone any where close to being in this shape to go visit you local ostomy association look them up online and ask them in person
I'm so proud of you! Congrats! And yes, youtube is amazing. It is so wonderful to know that I've helped people. That is why I keep making these videos.
Smoking helped cure all my symptoms for the last 18 months. I eat what I want and have a normal morning bowel movement. My farts are just farts. Clove cigs are better because they have a sweet taste. Only the truly desperate like myself have lit up. I have since quit and feel good. Thank You God.
When the prednisone is 20mg daily or higher your adrenal gland stop producing cortisoid because prednisone is replacing it and from this limit you have to taper off very gradually to discard any adrenal failure.
Hey, I don't know if you are still at Mizzou, but I also have ulcerative colitis and live in columbia missouri. I am actually on Prednisone right now until my insurance allows me to start Remicade. I just got out of the hospital on Sunday and was looking around to see if anyone else had this disease and what they did. Take Care. Shana
It's unbelievable how incompetent your medical caretakers sound. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 04, they should not have jumped to put you on steroids so quickly, I don't know why they didn't start you on 5-ASA medication (Colazal...etc) which is usually very effective with mild cases of UC. Then the Imuran after the steroids....unbelievable.. Imuran is usually used as a last resort.
Hey, hang in there. I haven't listened to your 2nd post yet, but I really don't think UC is as simple as KaylynnCarew implies. SCD does help some people a lot, but some it doesn't do a thing. I had a 15 year remission without doing a thing, then bang a flare that started a year ago and doesn't respond well to anything yet.
@kovermyer wow, this is the first time I ever read of someone not being helped by this diet (aka GAPS). I haven't started it yet but just wow, and thanks for the reality check. I hope that by now, you've gotten some help.
You really need to stop eating whatever you are eating and go on the SCD diet . My son was diagnosed a month ago, and within 10 days (yesterday).. his cramps and D are pretty much gone. I'm sorry you had to go through all the drug pushers (dr's)... but this really does work for 1,000's of people.
"KaylynnCarew" while I am so happy that the SCD diet worked for your son, it did not for me. Not any of the times I tried it. I know that for many it works, but I am NOT one of those people. Some people are just too sick and medications or surgery are their best option. Try to keep an open mind about that.

Is insane that your doctor stoped all.

Yeah, incompetency seems to run rampant in the medical field in regards to this disease.

I completely agree with you. I tried the diet and it DID NOT work for me. I tried it more then once, and it never worked.
I hope you are doing better!
