your probably gonna want an over sized tank with that bad boy the yfz tank looks smaller then my banshee tank and i eat through that. Another recomendation if it isnt already done is a cool head and hi flow impellor they run way cooler and live alot longer. Porting and a bigger carbs and a timing advance key would be another good mod. Good luck looks sweet!!!
with regards to maintenance etc, I have had too do 2 full rebuilds on the 4 stroke where as the 2 stroke hasnt even needed a top end rebuild yet, I race both MX and flat track with both machines and yes the 2 stroke is harder to ride but man when it gets traction and is in the right gear there isnt much that can stay with it..
I have the best of both worlds now, the YFZ in the backround is also mine and that has the 4 stoke and I have a 2 stroke in the same frame both motors push out about the same HP and they each have there own pros and cons
The 4 stroke does have power throughout the rev range where as the 2 stroke has be ridden in the powerband to make power BUT there is no feeling or sound like a banshee motor when its in the band and screaming

BS! they dont rev up nearly as high as a 2 stroke u idiot and 2 stroes are fast but they are too un efficient iv had many 2 strokes and id rather be riding then rebuildin my freaken top and bottom end!! no doubt 2 strokes are crazy quick compared to 4s but they all top out the same 2 strokes just get there quicker. and also 2 strokeshave no bottom end torque thats why i dont racethem anymore cus on tight tracks you aint got time to wind up into the narrow powerband. 4 strokes are very reliable!!
my banshee has toomeys and a filter and i jetted it w/ 340s, but for the past month i cant ride it cause the fuckin rite cylinder aint firing. if u rev her up, the rite cylinder fires and the bike gets twice as powerful, but it wont idle and its got no midrange cause im runnin 1 cylinder! 2 strokes are a bitch, but u cant deny(not that u have) the incredible power/weight and just plain spirit of a 2 stroke! way harder to ride the power band too, takes more skill. plus, aint met a 4 thats faster.
I was at the coast yesterday and a guy on a piped can am ds 450 was smoking my buddies toomied banshee with k&n filters jetted and reeds all day! the new 450's are hella fast.

@ILoveWeedAndBanshees No idea if you are still having this problem but switch your spark plug caps to the opposite cylinders and see if the problem changes cylinders. If it does your whole problem could be worn out plug caps or a simple loose connection.
um the banshee is actually a 350, so they do make 2 strokes bigger than 300, not to mention the old CR500, and other huge engine bikes from the past. they stopped making the bikes due to emission issues. the 4 strokes are every bit as fast, they just dont have the huge hit that a 2 stroke has when it lays into the powerband, which can be a pain in the ass depending on what kinda riding you do.
They made 2 strokes bigger than 300cc...kx 500, cr 500, quadzilla, husquvarna 500 and ktm makes a few bigger than 300 aswell. Tell some one your going to check the vavles and the timing chain on your 2 stroke and watch them laugh...modern 4 strokes call for more maintenance than a 2 stroke. If anyone is rebuilding the top-end ever 20 hours or something like that...your not doing something right. Also a 2 stroke isnt hard to keep in the power band if you know how to ride it.
I have always wanted to do this exact conversion , but the work involved obviously is immense. good job, and now that I know it can be done, I think I'll start to plan the build.
i dont know what the weight difference is but i know the yfz frame is built better for jumping and more stuff like that. and the yfz looks bad ass. so now you got the bad ass looks with the bad ass 2 stroke sound
That banshee is gonna eat through that gas tank soooooooooooooo freakin fast. only get like 2 hours on a tank and that's takin it easy. I've took out a tank in 45 minutes when i'm on it
i love it super cool, and to the dud below me the yfz and banshee have about the same horsepower and topspeed but the banshee has greater acceleration and it a ton lighter that why

@rockinbass01 timing advance keys suck. they tend to shear easily. if you want to advance timing do it right and buy an adjustable timing plate.

to much air burns the 2stroke oil too fast.
then you get more friction .
and on idle it dus go wierd.
buy castrol 2stroke oil and use more of it.
or place a ring before the exhaust wich gives more compression at low rpm.

Yamaha did not stop selling the banshee. They are still for sale in south america. Emission laws are prohibiting them from being sold.
