I'm going to be not that keen on Doctor Who when David leaves. But I'm not so sure if the new guy will get long because my Dad told me that a time lord can only regenarate 11 times. And it can't be the shadow thing because it that important in the story. But the only three things that effected the story the most was The Daleks, The Cybermen and The Master.

I think that its a two fold prophecy. The Doctors song ending, means that Gallifrey will be comming back and he will no longer be singing the song of sadness, loss, regret, and loneliness. "Gallifrey is returning through the darkness" And also that this incarnation of the Doctor will be passing and the new Doctor will be singing a new song in his heart, one of hope and forgiveness.

I don't want to sound like I am in denial (though I partly am xD) but I don't think "your song is ending sir" means "you are going to die/die and regenerate etc." because if it did why would she tell him to be careful if she is telling him that he is going to die? Being careful isn't really going to stop you from dyeing. "your song IS ending" not "your song MAY BE ending". Ok I'm babbling but I just wanted to throw that in for discussion.

She will be telling the Doctor to be careful as to not get the ones he loves in danger because no one will be safe around him when when whatever ends his "song" arrives.

In this case, it doesn't appear that he will be careful; in his final episode when his song will be nearing its end, he is hanging around Donna's house of all places, and her grandfrather is the compaion.

Basically- she is telling him not to put the ones he loves in danger.

Nah, River isn't returning until somewhere mid-series 5, so the song thing won't be to do with her.

Also- Vashta Narada are microscopic shadow things. 'It is returning through the dark' would be refering to an entity coming through a deep darkness.

to be honest, the only enemy who could kill the dr n make him regenerate is the master. chrimbo day he dies, then a week later, on new years day, enter matt smith, then the river song bit goes full circle, watch the library episode to find out what i mean by that
