I like Ron Paul but disagree with him here. His comparison to Russia saying New Mexico is Mexicos in relation the Ossetian conflict is clear spin. South Ossetia, while having declared independence, was not independent and no one recognized them. Ron Paul makes it sound as if Georgia invaded Russia, which is not true.

The IAEA is the International Atomic Energy Agency, the world body responsible for keeping track of nuclear capability.
They have more inspectors in Iran then in any other country. They have concluded Iran is not trying to make nuclear weapons.

we are not threatening the Russians they are threatening the nations of Eastern Europe and dont want to lose that ability to threaten those nations because of a missile shield. Secondly Russia already has an enormous missile defense system in their country so the argument that they dont want us to have the upper-hand as far as defense goes is a lame argument that they put out. Maybe he should actually stop and look at the military capabilities of Iran, because Guess what they do have missiles that are capable of hitting targets in Israel and Europe. Also the missile shield in Europe is defensive; it can only shoot down incoming missiles. That isnt threatening to Russia and would only affect Russia if they attempted to launch missiles into Europe.

I never watch TV, as in Never, because I hate corporate bullshit. I get all my news on events by googling for information or going on youtube. I like Ron Paul but disagree with him here. His comparison to Russia saying New Mexico is Mexicos in relation the Ossetian conflict is clear spin. South Ossetia, while having declared independence, was not independent and no one recognized them. Ron Paul makes it sound as if Georgia invaded Russia, which is not true.

You think the cold war was about being friendly? It was a constant state of hostility between the two nations. What worked was the ever present fear of total annihilation.
Everyone knows Georgia made the first move, but Russia's been waiting for the opportunity to attack to discourage Georgia, Ukraine, etc from NATO membership, to disrupt the pipeline that interferes with their stranglehold on Eastern Europe and to vent their frustration over Kosovo and 20 years of economic humiliation.

It wasn't about being the aggressor either. It was about being strong, not backing down and talking. I am aware of the hostility between Georgia and Russia and it goes back a long way. Russia supplies 80% of the oil that Europe needs, why are we sticking our noses in it? If Georgia wants to attack Russia then let them live with the consequences.
